2023 Acura INTEGRA
  • Date of Incident: Apr-11, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-17, 2024
  • Failed components: STEERING

This vehicle was sold 4. 10 with an issue commonly referred to as sticky steering. A bulletin went out july 2023 (23-037) directing dealers to replace the electronic power steering gearbox with a new one. Sticky steering occurs at most speeds. The steering has what i can best describe as pixelated movements rather than smooth. When you are trying to maintain control while driving straight or turn the wheel slightly it seems to jump to the next notch instead of slide smoothly. This often results in slight overcorrection and is very scary at higher speeds or in thicker traffic. You have to fight the steering wheel to maintain control. This condition is extremely dangerous and causes the car to pull to either side with diminished control of the steering.

Paint. Delaminating at the sealer. Paint flakes randomly fall off car over the years. Acura verified this was a factory defect and the common area is occurred was the roof. This was covered for my car 03. 2019 under an extended warranty but was only limited to the roof. I specifically asked to fix the whole paint job since this was a factory defect and they stated they will only fix the area with the current damage. Well now time has passed and this has now happened on my left passenger door and acura will not cover any part of fixing their factory defect. Terrible on acura for selling a product they know has a factory defect and they will not stand by their product.

2016 Acura MDX
  • Date of Incident: Jan-01, 2018
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-16, 2024
  • Failed components: STRUCTURE:BODY and POWER TRAIN

There are two parts to this complaint. The issue regarding the transmission is potentially a safety issue and could result in an accident, while the peeling paint problem is already addressed in the Acura Service Bulletin 19-029 for VINs other than mine. Both are well documented problems that have been experienced by other 2016 Acura MDX owners. The transmission issue is an intermittent problem while accelerating and decelerating. There is a abrupt hesitation, or surging. While coating down a steep hil, the transmission will stay in gear at very high revs instead of shifting. These are an annoyance, but the acceleration problem could cause someone to hit the car from behind in heavy traffic situations. Some individuals note on the internet that their engines would accually stall when accelerating. I have brought my vehicle into the Acura Dealership on a number of occasions without the problem being resolved. The paint issue involves the white diamond pearl paint coming off the roof and is already addressed in Acura Service Bulleting 19-029. It is unthinkable that only some VINs are covered while others are not, if the same exact problem seems to exist on non-listed VINs. Honda Motor Company indicated that they would not add additional VINS unless directed to by NHTSA. Please have Honda extend the warranty on ALL 2016 Acura MDX models with the same problem.
