The contact stated that his daughter was driving and was stopped at a traffic signal, when the signal turned green the vehicle in front began to move forward but abruptly stopped. The contact's daughter crashed into the rear bumper of the vehicle at approximately 2 mph. The seat belt pretensioner was activated on the driver's side seat belt. The contact stated that his daughter was not aware of any warning lights. The contact stated that his daughter was unhurt, the other vehicle drove away with no damage. The police were not called. The contact stated that his daughter was pinned in the seat by the seat belt but was able to unbuckle. She then turned the hazard lights on. The contact stated that he arrived and he saw that the hazard lights were dim and when he attempted to start the vehicle it was not starting. The contact had the vehicle towed to a collision repair shop. The contact stated that the collision repair shop diagnosed and determined that the driver's side seat belt needed to be replaced, however the parts (part number: 04818tz3a01zc) was not available. The contact stated that he contacted a local dealer to source the part and was told the part was unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed. The failure mileage was unknown.
There are two parts to this complaint. The issue regarding the transmission is potentially a safety issue and could result in an accident, while the peeling paint problem is already addressed in the Acura Service Bulletin 19-029 for VINs other than mine. Both are well documented problems that have been experienced by other 2016 Acura MDX owners. The transmission issue is an intermittent problem while accelerating and decelerating. There is a abrupt hesitation, or surging. While coating down a steep hil, the transmission will stay in gear at very high revs instead of shifting. These are an annoyance, but the acceleration problem could cause someone to hit the car from behind in heavy traffic situations. Some individuals note on the internet that their engines would accually stall when accelerating. I have brought my vehicle into the Acura Dealership on a number of occasions without the problem being resolved. The paint issue involves the white diamond pearl paint coming off the roof and is already addressed in Acura Service Bulleting 19-029. It is unthinkable that only some VINs are covered while others are not, if the same exact problem seems to exist on non-listed VINs. Honda Motor Company indicated that they would not add additional VINS unless directed to by NHTSA. Please have Honda extend the warranty on ALL 2016 Acura MDX models with the same problem.
My rear back windshield shattered while the car was parked for no reason. The acura rep told me that the back windshields that we installed with faulty and had sent out a bulletin but i never received this bulletin. Acura is trying to not pay for the back windshield and trying my make me go through my insurance to get it fixed. This happened on 4/7/2024.

Manufacturer at two different locations report the are unable to make repairs due to not having parts.
When in reverse the passenger mirror dips to give a better view of the curb. Once the vehicle is taken out of reverse the mirror does not return to the original position. I have had the vehicle in the dealership and they say they cannot reproduce the error. I have brought it in with the mirror in the dipped position. I have shown them videos of the mirror as it dips and then as it fails to return to the original position.
All safety system alerts appeared while driving on the highway saying there were failures with all of the safety systems. Electronic steering suddenly stopped working and vehicle slowed down forcibly until its stop in the middle of the highway. I had to call roadside assistance to get the car towed to the dealership. All error messages came on, the vehicle electric power steering,vsa , hill start assist,trailer stability assist problem, collision mitigation & vehicle kept stopping itself while driving, road departure. Lane keeping assist all error messages came on.
While taking the vehicle on long drives and driving on a straightaway for a few miles possibly 3-4. The steering becomes very heavy to the sense it’s becoming stuck and electric power steering motor is failing.
