  • Failed components: SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, and UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Car was being driven normally within a parking lot of a shopping center. Proceeded to park the vehicle in a parking space. Upon pressing break and holding break pedal pressed, went to push the parking button on gear shifter and car erratically jolted and drove forward and stopped upon impact with barriers/debris/crash. Multiple alerts and warnings illuminated right prior to the incident. Reviews of other drivers of this vehicle reveals similar incidents of unintended acceleration while breaks are actively being applied. No parking button options were stopping vehicle, impact/crash stopped car. Property of shopping plaza/target was damaged, my vehicle, audi, was damaged and another vehicle parked next to claims their vehicle was involved/hit as well. Safety was critically in danger as breaks did not work and car accelerated on its own without accelerator being pressed rather break was actively engaged and pressing of parking break to shift car from drive to park. Audi pre sense, parking break, tpms and caution symbol alerts displayed. Problems confirmed and reviewed by audi dealer service. Paperwork is attached along with pictures. Alerts from car has been present for sometime and car has been taken to audi numerous times with no action by dealer, car is new and is a lease. Audi is aware of these issues had took no action to audit/fix cars systems. Shortly after those visits to dealers this incident occurred. Believe these control modules having a correlation with cars sporadic behavior. Audi service documents: story: 5354 tsb 2070571/2 duplicated customer concern during the initial test drive. 2017 Audi Q7
  • Date of Incident: Jul-25, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-22, 2024
  • Failed components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Audi 2017 q7 premium plus: july 25, 2023 - got a notification "front right side marker light defective. " the car had just passed the 50k manufacturer's warranty. The current mileage at the time was 51,426. Contacted dealership for assistance and they informed there was a recall on this issue but unfortunately my vin did not qualify for it, also that the vehicle was no longer under the manufacturer's warranty. I then emailed audi customer support explaining my concern and how i felt this was a safety issue that should be the manufacture's responsibility to repair. I received a call back from them and pretty much what they said was, "we apologize for the inconvenience but unfortunately your vin does not apply to the recall and the vehicle is no longer under warranty. " i got the same response as the dealership. I've taken my car to two different shops and the cost varies from 5k-6k. This is insane for a car that was barely over 50k miles. I've never experienced any other problems with my car in the 4 years i've owned it. This was the very first time. I maintain my car very well and it is always up to date with the maintenance services. This is a safety issue that can affect my safety and others as the purpose of these lights are to inform other drivers about my vehicle when observed from the side. Especially at night. After several attempts with the dealership and no luck i gave up. I found a european auto shop to look into this and they are now working with my extended warranty in hopes they can get this fixed for the safety of others and myself. I strongly feel audi should have made this recall apply to all their 2017 vehicles experiencing this problem. Thank you.

Front left side marker light defective. See owners manual. After checking with the owners manual - it says contact your audi service. Checking online reveals that several other audi owners with an audi q7 2017 model have experienced this exact same issue. When the issue happens under warranty the headlight in question is replaced for around $4,000. If not under warranty it is an out of pocket expense - a very high cost. According to audiworld online this exact issue is covered by audi recall campaign 97cb (nhtsa id : 16v642000) but only for some vin numbers and not for my vehicle

The pcv valve malfunctioned and required an extensive repair bill to solve. I've learned that this very engine (3. 0) is already a subject of a recall for this concern, but the recall cuts off at 2016 audis, and mine is a 2017. Please update your recall list to include all audi models with this 3. 0 engine, as the problem is the same regardless of the year.

I talked to an audi representative and it appears there are recalls for sunroof leaking in various cars it was installed upon that include volkswagen and audi. My 2019 audi was not included and the representative cannot explain why even though i have an identical issue with leakage from the sunroof. The exact problems that plagues other cars that were already given a recall. Instead of a recall, a tsb, was offered for my car but because it is not an actual recall, audi will not pay for any repairs. From my online search, it looks like there was a class action lawsuit from a law firm called milberg with my model included that was settled for extended the warranty of 8 years (2028) or 80k miles to repair the leaking sunroof. My car has a tsb and acknowledgment in the class action lawsuit that there was a faulty sunroof but because my car has 94k miles on it, audi refuses to pay it. I believe that nhtsa needs to make an immediate recall for 2019 audi e-tron for leaking sunroof because it is the same recall other cars have had with the same sunroof system installed, a class action lawsuit that offered payment for those not able to get the recall on their car, and audi issuing a tsb because they know there is the same problem on my car. Audi keeps using the excuse that nhtsa didn't force them to make a recall on the 2019 audi e-tron even though it suffers from the same problem as the other cars with the same sunroof system, so they are refusing to cover any costs to fix it.
