Consumers have filed a total of 7 complaints for TT models.
The trim on both sides of the front seats is loose and broken, i am concerned that the airbag won't deploy properly if not addressed by audi. The dealership wants $2700 to fix this issue. I have contacted audi customer care and they have advised that it is customer pay due to being outside the warranty period.
Driver seat: the plastic housing on both sides of the driver's seat, near the headrest, have popped open and pulled away from the seat. The is the area where the side airbags are stored and deploy from during a collision. Passenger seat: the plastic housing has popped/pulled away on the passenger seat, near the headrest. This is where the side airbags are stored. Vehicle has been stationary. Occurs with temperature changes or worsens when passenger/driver in respective seat.
THE SEAT BELTS IN THE 2018 Audi TT SERIES HAVE BEEN PLACED TOO LOW ON THE FRAME SUCH THAT THERE IS A STRONG TENDENCY FOR THE SEAT BELTS TO RIDE DOWN FROM THE OCCUPANT'S SHOULDER THEREBY CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION. IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT.
The brake system on this car is not vented properly and thus overheats under heavy braking, resulting in excessive wear, melting of electronics, and potentially catastrophic failure which could result in injury or death. I know a number of people with this same model car who have had similar issues, and i have read reports of people across the us with the same problem. In my case i was on a closed circuit driving at a high-performance driving school and the brakes failed without warning because the pad sensor warning system had failed and the excessive heat wore through the brake pads very quickly.
Adaptive headlights: error popped up for adaptive headlights when starting car. Error went away the next time the car was started. Previously had software updated for side marker recall in december 2016. Took car to audi dealership (july 13, 2017) and they said there was a second recall, and proceeded to update the software for the headlights. I have not seen a recall issued for this problem / software update.
TAKATA RECALL - DRIVER SEAT: THE PLASTIC HOUSING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT, NEAR THE HEADREST, HAVE POPPED OPEN AND PULLED AWAY FROM THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, PARKED IN A GARAGE OVERNIGHT. CLEAR WEATHER AND ABOUT 70-75 DEGREES THE DAY BEFORE, IN THE 50 DEGREE RANGE AT NIGHT. DISCOVERED THE ANOMALY WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE THE NEXT MORNING WHEN GETTING INTO THE CAR (JULY 9, 2017). DISCOVERED THE ANOMALY WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE A FEW DAYS LATER (JULY 13, 2017). I HAVE CONTACTED A NEARBY AUDI DEALERSHIP.
