This vehicle was rear ended with rear frame damage. The airbag light stays on and the seat belt was ejected and lock. The seat now will not extend to fit and latch. My wife the owner of the car nkenge samuel barker head and body was jerked extremely hard due to the lack of airbag not deploying. My wife completed all required maintenance with the bmw dealer prior to the accident. This is frustrating since we paid a lot of money over the years to maintain the car and we expect nothing less, but a safe vehicle for my wife. 2024 BMW I4
  • Date of Incident: Apr-09, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-18, 2024
  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM and SUSPENSION

Mechanical failure on the car air suspension especially on back left of the car. Car parked overnight and it automatically lowered and driving it out of the drive way there was no error that popped out on low suspension until driving out of drive way. That caused the scratch on left side under carriage. Dealer refused to run diagnostics to determine true cause of issue until we pay for the diagnosis although this car is newly purchased and covered under warranty period. Dealer is trying to put the blame on me although it is a malfunction with the cars air suspension. Read that this problem happens to i4’s often on forums and i don’t feel safe driving the car until this issue is resolved but i’m unable to proceed without proper diagnosis from bmw service.

Was driving down the highway at 70 mph when my sunroof suddenly exploded. There was no damage to the sunroof prior to the explosion and there was no outside object that fell onto the sunroof that could have caused it to explode. Thankfully i had the liner closed on the inside of the vehicle and i did not have the glass shatter on to me physically. However, if the liner had not been closed there could have been physical damage to myself and possibly caused me to have a motor vehicle accident. I took my vehicle to the dealership and the technician informed that he has at least 4 bmw vehicles per month with sunroof explosion. I also contacted bmw usa and notified them of the incident, and they stated there was no open recall on my vehicle. As stated before i feel this is a huge safety issue that warrants further investigation.

Vehicle displays transmission malfunction & dsc and xdrive malfunction, this vehicle is available upon request for inspection. Currently been to two dealerships and all i got from the first dealership is to replace transmission at 59k mile. I purchased a used transmission same problem exist in the replacement transmission. As i was driving on highway, the transmission began displaying message above and caused the vehicle suddenly slow down without warning lights causing me to avoid an accident by pulling over to avoid being rear ended. The problem has been reproduced by dealer: tech and service advisors manager( authorized to drive) and he charge me for a tow even after i mention to him i have aaa if he needs it. Service manager stated that it may need the mechatronics unit which $4k for part but they’re unsure because they didn’t take it apart but it’s a known issue. They mention that it’s a known problem for the tcm (mechatronic valve throttle body control module to go bad). Manufacturer has not inspected vehicle. So currently it’s at bmw of owings mills get a second opinion.
