2023 BMW 540I

Car did not fully stop when brakes engaged. Caused collision with a wall. Mechanics are currently evaluating the braking system but it appears to be consistent with the brake recall issued for other 2023-4 bmw vehicles—loss of power brake assist or antilock brake to not function properly. (see national highway traffic safety administration campaign number 24v-104 reported on february 12, 2024).

The contact owns a 2013 BMW X5. The contact stated while driving the vehicle was sluggish. No warning was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for routine maintenance and to address the vehicle driving sluggish. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle stating the valvetronic camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to cost an existing recall on the year, make and model of this vehicle, however the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

Repeatedly getting warnings of "secre vehicle with parking brake"

2011 BMW 528I

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 528i. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard a ticking sound emanating from the engine compartment, after which the vehicle inadvertently lost all motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. The check warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the vanos bolts. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to nhtsa campaign number 23v707000 (engine and engine cooling), and the vin was included, but parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 115,000.

The driver restraint system malfunctioned out of the blue. It’s still at the dealership where i’m paying to have it diagnosed. This problem is so common it is a running joke on twitter, yet there’s no recall on my car that is only 8 years old.

The local dealer was contacted and it was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had experienced the failure in which the engine light had illuminated while driving. The failure mileage was 75,000. The vin tool confirms parts not available.

Remedy is still unavailable. Nhtsa released recall in october 2023 and bmw notified me of the recall in december 2023. It has been 6 months since the initial recall without remedy which i consider to be an unreasonable period of time. I am concerned that this issue could cause an accident as stated in the recall notice.

2024 BMW XM

The contact owns a 2024 bmw xm. The contact stated when driving 60 mph the vehicle was shaking. The roll over, chassis and improper steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the shaking. The vehicle was repaired by removing and replacing the tires. However, the failure recurred. The also stated the control arm needed to be replaced, however, the part was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,200.

2012 BMW K 1600 GTL

Motorcycle has 45000miles and the transmission started to stutter in 4th gear, the symptoms match the recalled transmission for 2017 bmw k1600. This is very dangerous and in 4th gear the vehicle is traveling at around 50mph, when applying throttle the whole bike bucks and becomes unstable
