We received notice of this recall, and while the manufacturer administratively states there is no remedy, they then list the remedy quite simply which is to replace the vanos bolts. I called around to dealers and other euroshops and every one of them has the parts to remedy the recall. Because of this it is clear that both the remedy and parts required for this recall is in fact available. Given this information this means bmw is either negligently prolonging listing the remedy as available or worse, purposely doing so in order float money that they do not yet want to shell out to dealers to fix these recalls. I have contacted bmw customer relations and while they do not dispute that the parts to remedy this recall are readily available, they refuse to administratively list the recall remedy as available. They refuse to offer to replace or refund the vehicle as well. This is a violation of federal law and our rights as a consumer, whereas the manufactures must proceed in a timely fashion and while they are granted time to develop a remedy and procure the parts needed, there is no part of the law that allows them to unilaterally administratively refuse to list the remedy as available when in fact the remedy is available as are the parts to repair it readily available. Resolutions we will accept on this matter are exactly what is required by the manufacturer by law. Correctly list the recall remedy as available so we can have it remedied at a dealer, and if bmw refuses to do that, they are violating our rights to repair this in a timely fashion and must either replace of refund.   please assist on this matter thank you so much

2022 BMW I4
  • Date of Incident: Aug-31, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Nov-29, 2023
  • Failed components: STEERING and UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I recently had an accident with the car. I was driving in a gated subdivision under very low speed, when i put the shifter in reverse in order to back up the car, the car failed to go into reverse and gave no warning, i assumed that the car was in reserve mode and tried to accelerate , the car lurched forward instead, hit some rocks and stopped. We requested bmw engineering team to inspect the car. They failed to identify any issue with the shifter or explain why the shifter did not go into reverse and gave no warning when it happened

My 2024 bmw caught on fire while i was driving it. A couple weeks prior my dashboard went out but resolved on its own in 24 hours. Before the fire i had no other issues with my vehicle. My insurance company was notified the night of the incident. However they didn’t start the investigation for 2 weeks until after i called to get an update. I then contacted bmw who has now started an investigation alongside my insurance company.

2020 BMW X4
  • Date of Incident: Nov-01, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Nov-28, 2023
  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, and FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

I own the car since brand new from dealership and never have incident. Couple weeks ago, started having issues with digital main instruments panel. Suddenly when i turn on the car in the morning the dash simply does not work. I got alert saying one the safety system is malfunctioning but not say what it was specifically. After 5 min the engine is on the main dash back to work normally, and all the alerts disappear. I have checked faulty codes and i see faulty code record to identify what would be. I would report as safety incident as the failure is randon and sometimes happen when i park the car in the office or anytime and i have to drive with no panel instruments working back to home. I have taken the bar back to dealership for investigation and they want to charge me $180 usd just for diagnose as it's out of warranty. I also taken to independent shop but it's hard to diagnose as the vehicle is reporting no fault on their system. A car with low milage should not been happening such major failure and i'm frustrated with the risk of driving a car couple miles without knowing my speed or fuel level. Appreciate your support.

  • Failed components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

The contact owns a 2011 bmw 328i. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle displayed the message "do not drive" with the low engine oil warning light illuminated and the contact pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway. After a visual inspection of the engine compartment, the contact became aware that the engine was extremely low on engine oil. The contact added half a quart of engine oil to the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 23v707000 (engine and engine cooling) for which the vin was included; however, parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 123,000.

While driving at city speed limit the headlights started flicking on-off very difficult to see in the dark. I pulled over to the side of the road for safety but now realized the turn signals not working and also the hazard lights are not working either. I was in a very dangerous situation sitting on the side of the road without any warning light on. Not only for mine safety but also dangerous for other drivers passing by without seen my car in the dark. Its due to well known bmw footwell module that has high failure incidents rate but bmw refused not to do a recall. Since this a safety issue nhtsa should request bmw to do a recall instead of just extended the warranty to 10/150k miles which my car is not qualify for. I've contacted bmw customer care but they refused to offer any assistance. I feel that bmw has deserted their customer and leaving a high cost burden on their customers although failure/flaw was directly from bmw.
