Back in 12/2020, my low coolant warning message came on. I went to the dealership and told them they found nothing wrong, as of yesterday 02/2021, it happened again, this time, the engine was overheating. The same dealership said it was the coolant hose leaking. I see online that bmw has this issue with 2018 modes.
I purchased a new 2020 bmw 230i in may 2020. Its first and only servicing was on 12/9/20 for a 10,000 mile oil change and "multi-point inspection," in which one of the inspection items was "inspect sunroof operation and check for leaks. " 12/11/20 i was driving to my office northbound on estrella blvd when at approximately 8:53 am, i heard what can only be described as an explosion. My initial reaction was that perhaps a tire blew out. As i then looked around at the windows and the dashboard, i heard something scraping against the roof of the vehicle. I slightly opened the interior sunroof hatch and saw the sunroof glass was completely shattered and there was a large hole visible. I closed the interior sunroof hatch and then heard glass blowing off of the sunroof towards the back of the car. There were no other vehicles around me as i was concerned the blowing glass would cause additional damage. I pulled to a side road as soon as safe to do so and messaged my wife about the incident (adriana valenzuela @ 8:56 am). As the car was still functional, i drove the approximate 3 1/2 miles back to my residence. At 2:32 pm, the vehicle was picked up from my residence and transported to arrowhead bmw. At 3:30 pm, i received a telephone call from arrowhead bmw. "....... Your car just arrived and you may want to call your insurance company because it looks like it was hit by a rock..... " i advised gomez under no circumstances would i accept that "a rock" had hit my vehicle. I also advised that in my 23 years as an fbi agent, i knew what an 'explosion" sounded like and what i experienced earlier that morning reminded me of a "flashbang" (used by swat teams). In addition, it is very clear from the photos that the glass had been forced outward and upward from the force of the breakage she advised that she would not have an update for me until at least 12/14/20.
I have a 2018 2 series xdrive convertible with 18? Pirelli run flat tires. This is my second 2 series. I have had 6 of these tires blow due to potholes over the two cars i have had over 4 years. The last one that blew was on friday on i65 just south of louisville. I had to wait 4 hours for tow truck to take it to bmw of louisville. I proceeded onto nashville. I picked the car up on the following monday. The tires are 18? Pirelli cinturato p7 a s rft run flat. This is a chronic problem with this car. My bmw service person says this happens so often with these cars. This blowout pattern is not acceptable. I need not to be to be worried all the time that a tire is going to blow when a pothole is hit. Especially on the highway. I must get them changed. I think this could be a deadly problem. It should be looked into by nhtsa.
In the last 12 months i had to replace 4 run flat tires at a cost of approximately $1300. The tire were coming off the car, there were bubbles in the tire. Bmw said "that happens with 2-series cars. " they said the low profile causes this when you hit potholes. I didn't hit any potholes. The car thumps whenever it hits even the smallest of bumps. I live in the burbs where the roads are relatively smooth. I have never had a problem like this before with the many cars i leased before. Bmw of mt. Kisco was totalling uncaring and did not offer any solutions despite the unsafe conditions, not to mention the cost. I want to get out of the lease after 1 year of the 3 years but they wouldn't even return my call.
Driving down the freeway at 65mph, car engine just shuts down. No power steering, no way to get over. Car display says drive train error. Car got towed to the dealer for service, dealer "fixes" issue. 2 days later, exact same thing happens again on the freeway at 65mph. Engine just shuts down. Towed back to the dealer. Still there, no fix yet. However, how is my wife supposed to feel safe in this car now. It can die on the freeway at anytime and you have no power and traffic is zooming by.
I have ordered my car with help by bmw of north america (bmw na) representatives by calling 800-831- 1117, to whom i expressed that i want to have 3 safety options, namely: 1) blind spot detection, 2) automated braking and 3) front camera. However, once i received the car, none of the desired options have been included on the car. Note that the representatives advised me that the automated braking is not available, but that there is front collision warning, which primes the brakes, ad which i accepted. All of which is available in driver assistance plus package, which came with navigation as well as additional options bundled, and which i have purchased. However, when i received the car, none of the desired options were included on the car. I have called bmw na and they told me that i will have to discuss it with the dealer. When i have called the dealer, they told me that none of these options were available on my car, and that they could not been ordered. Provided that the car has been provided to me without the options for which i have specifically asked and which were supposedly included, namely driver assistance plus, and provided that the bmw na representatives misguided me by telling me to buy this option, i believe that this is enough to open the case. In addition, note that bmw of lincoln, ne, in which i have purchased the lease of my car, has stopped calling me back, even after i have called bmw na numerous times and they told me that they have requested the dealership to call me, in order to resolve the problem.
