Diesel fuel found in unexpected areas including wiring harness, fuel injectors, pressure sensors, turbo charger component, dde, egr, etc. Unable to locate source of fuel leak into electrical system causing potential fire hazard or serious vehicle malfunctioning. Advised by bmw service manager that cost to perform repair more costly than value of vehicle. Bmw not supportive in correction or assistance with issues. Over 2. 5 years of ownership, vehicle serviced >5+ times for engine warning light and drive train malfunction alerts. Egr valve replaced x3, exhaust pre dpftemp sensor, etc. Service performed on recalled flex disc b27, and egr cooler (multiple times)per advisory. Regular and timely maintenance performed on vehicle.
While driving the vehicle at freeway speed it suddenly and unexpectedly lost power causing me to have to take action to cross lanes of traffic to the shoulder. The dealer replaced the fuel rail and additional components however this did not prevent rerepeated recurrence of the issue. I am concerned that if the issue is not resolved it will lead to a dangerous and unsafe situation. This is a recurring issue even though the bmw repaired it. Car displays drivetrain malfunction message and check engine light.

Recall campaign 18v-755 (egr). No remedy. It has been almost a year since the recall has come out and bmw has not fixed my car
Recall campaign # 18v-755 exhaust gas recirculation (egr). I had waited 7 months to get the fix completed. I wrote a letter to the ceo of bmw usa. They had a representative assigned to my case. I told them that this defect is a safety issue for my family and gave then 30 days to fix it which expired on july 15th. They inspected it which doesn't show failure but it is still a concern as it says - "it would increase the risk of a fire". They still don't have a fix that has been broadly rolled out. I am in fear of driving this vehicle. I have asked them to buy back my vehicle as i am the original lessee. They have refused to correct the problem as they are prioritizing the fixes to their resale vehicles and not vehicles already on the road. If you need copies of my correspondences with bmw i will be happy to provide it. *js
This recall nhtsa recall number 19v349 has been open on my vehicle since april and bmw has not repaired my vehicle yet. I went into the service department yesterday and asked them to complete the repairs and they said they do not have the parts to complete the repairs. I have a 10 month old baby that sits in the back seat and do not feel safe in the car due to the recall. I am in a lease, how do i get out of this car? I feel like bmw is not taking this recall seriously. Thank you. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).? *pm

I then booked an appointment at bmw encinitas on monday, 6/3 to get it fixed. They diagnosed the check engine light and quoted me that it was all part of the recall and that there would be no charge. I signed the paperwork, and my service advisor joey said that due to the service department? S backlog, the car wouldn? T be ready until tuesday 6/4 in the evening. They didn? T give me a loaner vehicle, so i had to call my mom to pick me up. Later that afternoon, i got a call from my service advisor saying that the car wouldn? T be ready until friday, 6/7. On wednesday 6/5, i received a message from my service advisor saying that my egr cooler was faulty and was replaced free of charge, but that the part that tripped the light, the egr valve, wasn? T covered under the recall and that we would be charged $416. 00 + tax to get it fixed. This was after they had quoted me? No charge? To have it all fixed. Even if the part in question is not part of the recall, if bmw would have had egr coolers in stock and taken my car in sooner, the egr valve probably wouldn? T have broken. We agreed to pay the charge to get my car out of the dealership, but this is ridiculous. My whole experience with the recall has been nothing but a disaster. This is by far the worst recall i? Ve ever been a part of. On thursday, 6/6, i received a call that my car was ready. I went to the dealership to pick it up, and they charged $448. 50 for the faulty valve, which was caused by the faulty cooler.

When i first heard about the recall for the egr cooler, i checked bmw's website and it said that the remedy was available. I took my car to the dealer, only to have them say parts weren't ready. I got a "drivetrain malfunction" error when i was driving to school a few months ago. After i got out of school, i was driving home when the check engine light came on. I took the car to my mechanic who diagnosed the problem as the egr cooler recall. He reset the code and sent me on my way. A few weeks later, the same thing happened again. My mechanic reset the code and sent me on my way again. I checked bmw's website again and they said parts were ready. I took my car into the dealer again, and they told me that parts weren't ready. Just today, i got another "drivetrain malfunction" error and the check engine light is staying on. I took it to my mechanic and he reset the code, but now the light is persistently on no matter how many times we reset the fault code. It has been over 6 months and bmw does not have parts ready. Every time i drive my car, i worry that it'll catch fire or something and leave me stranded along the side of the road. I almost feel like bmw should buy my car back, since it has had the same problem 3 times in a row.
Recall 18v-755. After waiting since dec 2018 the parts arrived at my dealership for this recall. The care went in for service and the dealer "inspected" the egr cooler and pronounced it "fine". I want to know what happens down the the road when it fails and burns up my vehicle and or garage? If the part is a defective design shouldn't it be changed? Who is liable?
Received letter from bmw in the fall of 2018 stating the nature of the recall and that parts would be available in december 2018. As of this morning, parts are still not available and was told it's at least 3-4 weeks away. Is this typical wait time to address recall issues?

I was driving on i-91 at normal highway speed and the car suddenly started decelerating on its own with no warning lights or other indication of a problem. I pulled over immediately and shut the engine off and got out to investigate and saw smoke under the hood. I called 911 and the car was visibly on fire by the time they arrived.
I was driving appx 45 mph (speed limit) on a suburban street when the car ran out of power, slowed down to a crawl and became totally limp. Meanwhile, the image on the navi screen stated, "powertrain failure, drive moderate speed" or something like it. I managed to make a very slow left turn onto a cross street b/c i was in shock. I was almost killed by an oncoming car going 45-50 mph. I had the car towed to rusnak bmw; after investigation, they stated it had a "bad fuel pump," and that they have "countless fuel pump problems with bmw diesel cars". The car now has a new fuel pump. I could have died!
This car was purchased new with the optional "active cruise control" (acc). Under certain conditions the car accelerates unexpectedly. When the brakes are applied by the driver, the acc engagement should always be terminated. In certain situations the acc remains engaged despite the driver's use of the brakes. When the acc is engaged and detects an object ahead, the brakes may be applied automatically by the acc. If, while the brakes are still be applied by the acc and the driver also presses the brake pedal, the acc should be disengaged and remain off. However, if the object previously detected ahead has cleared and the driver releases the brakes, the acc control is restored and the car accelerates. This is a dangerous and confusing response. Drivers instinctively expect any cruise control to disengage immediately and remain disengaged upon brake application. The bmw active cruise control does not perform this way in the situation described. This acc response is a repeatable defect that has caused me to experience a hazardous situation while driving.
