I have a diesel that the scr tank that holds the diesel emission fluid has a faulty level sensor p203e error code. A. Check engine iight is always on. Bmw has extended warranty of 10 yr/120,000 miles. Several of the diesel bmw have this tank aspart of the extended warranty but not mine. Light has been on for a year.
It had been raining in my area the week of 4/16/2021. On the evening of 4/16/2021 my rear hatch control and rear hatch alarm started malfunctioning. I discovered water had gotten into the electrical compartment in the rear hatch. I brought my suv to the shop/dealer for repair and was told the sunroof frame was cracked allowing water penetration from the headliner to the rear hatch causing the hatch control unit to malfunction. My vehicle has never been involved in an accident and i have never stored or transported anything on my roof. The repair shop/dealer was unable to offer a reason for what could have caused the sunroof frame to crack. The only explanation that makes sense is that the sunroof was either installed improperly by the manufacturer or the sunroof frame is defective. It was $4,298. 08 to repair the sunroof and control unit. This is most concerning as my suv is less than 5 years old, only has 81,448 miles and there is no recommended maintenance for the sunroof.
MY 2019 BMW X3 WITH COMFORT ACCESS OPTION PACKAGE WILL OPEN THE HATCH WITHOUT ANY INPUT FROM ME. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES NOW AND ALL WHEN LOCKED WITH THE KEY IN MY POCKET AND I WAS WELL OVER 100 FEET AWAY. THIS CAN INJURE PEOPLE/KIDS IN PARKING LOTS OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO MY GARAGE OR HATCH. SOME PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED ONLINE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILST DRIVING!
I DROVE MY 2016 BMW X3 FOR ABOUT 30 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND CAME TO A STOP AT A LIGHT. MY REAR HATCH OPENED WHILE AT THE LIGHT AND MY VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE. I HAD TWO DOGS IN THE REAR AREA THAT NEARLY JUMPED OUT. WE DID DETERMINED THAT A KEY FOB IN A POCKET PROBABLY WAS PRESSED. WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE AND THE DOORS ARE LOCKED THERE IS NO REASON A REAR HATCH SHOULD BE ABLE TO OPEN. I WAS ABLE TO REENACT THIS EXACT SAME SITUATION WITH THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE, AND THE DOORS LOCKED BY PUSHING THE HATCH BUTTON. ITDOES ALLOW THE REAR HATCH TO FULLY OPEN EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE.

Aeb triggers with no car in front of me. Dealer service rep tells me her x5 does it too, that the sensor is mounted too low and a pothole can set it off. Advised to set to "late. " did it again. Was raining last time and car went into minor skid. (driver behind me wasn't amused). Has happened twice.
The vehicle's rear liftgate has opened randomly several times without notice or without input from the user. The first incident was when backing out of a parking spot, the rear liftgate opened suddenly. This is concerning because it was a busy parking lot and our dog was in the car and began to jump out of the vehicle and could have jumped into moving traffic. Another incident occurred in our driveway where the vehicle was parked and unlocked and unoccupied. We noticed that the hatch had opened by itself at some point without any input from anyone. I do not want to wait for an additional incident to occur which could lead to the injury or death of an occupant, human or otherwise. Our vehicle is outfitted with a factor tow hitch so we believe that the car does not have the capability of hands-free liftgate opening with a 'kick' motion. We do not know if the sensors for this feature are still installed but disabled and/or if they became enabled by mistake through a software update at the dealership.
My emergency brake keeps malfunctioning, i have been unable to use them for about 3 months now. Also starting around 2/20/21 when im at a red light for more than a minute and the light turns green, my transmission gets stuck and the car wont go, a warning sign comes on. Then i have to re put it in drive and can go.
We previously had an issue with this vehicle where the dashboard gauges were shifting a few inches to the left and lost visibility to the speedometer. This was resolved after a few visits with the gauge cluster being replaced. We are now having an issue where occasionally the dashboard gauge cluster will go completely blank for a few seconds. The idrive components remain on during this time. It's difficult to take a picture, as it only occurs while driving. There does not seem to be any consistency to when this occurs, but it does not happen when stationary. The times it has happened, it does seem to be while accelerating after a turn.
My rear trunk door opens on its own when i'm away from the car and it is locked. My coworkers have witnessed it while on break in the parking lot. I've taken it to the dealership to address and it has not happened as often, but it continues to happen, just not as frequently.
Tailgate opens on its own. Once in motion more often after loading dogs in the back, closing it and then it opens as i open the drivers door. A fix is to start the car first the open the tailgate and close that seems to help.
While driving, heard a explosion. Stop and the sunroof glass had exploted.
While driving, sunroof exploded
Bmw is using inferior parts and metal. I recently had engine work completed because the transmission heat exchange is faulty and stays open which overheats the vehicle's engine. The service manager at otto's bmw told me that if the heat exchange is open it can seize the engine. To repair this it cost $1802. 74 and this shouldn't happen to a bmw. I had had bmws in the past and no engine was ever a problem until now. They should be reprimanded for these latent defects. I was riding and the light for the engine went on and immediately brought it to otto's bmw. The car has always been maintained but this costly repair should be paid by bmw-usa. These cars are supposed to be high end vehicle that can last for over 175k miles. Not this vehicle. It is problematic and there are two class action lawsuits out there regarding this exact problems. Bmw must be fined and make good on these problems. Anything less we the consumer gets compromised.
While driving at 60 mph the electronic dashboard completely shut off. It restarted itself after some 30 seconds. When it reappears it does not show correct speed, it starts at 0 and works its way up to the correct speed. I have been unable to get a picture of the dashboard as it has happened while driving at speeds this car had previous dashboard problems with the dash sliding to the left. This was brought to the dealer for correction. This is different. It is a momentary complete dash failure.
My husband was driving my infant son and i as we were merging onto the pa turnpike. We hit some small road debris at about 50-60 mph. The debris was so small that we didn't feel a bump or anything, just heard a loud bang and figured we had a typical blow out. The car did jerk to the left moderately but we were able to safely pull over. Upon inspection, the wheel split in half across the entire circumference in the direction of roll. There was a small bend on the inside edge of the wheel at the point of impact but the split was several inches away from this damage. There was also no crack or split at the point of impact. We would have expected there to be a crack in this area perpendicular to the road but instead the crack was in the opposite direction, away from the damage. The tire had no damage to it and was the only thing holding the wheel together as it was in two separate pieces. The wheel contacted the brake caliper, rotor, and dust shield causing abrasions and dents in these parts. Luckily, the brakes held together but this could have been much worse. My husband has seen bent wheels before but this looks like a possible casting problem with the alloy wheel itself as it literally sheared apart. There were 3 vehicles immediately behind us that struct the same debris and only suffered punctures and no broken wheels. The bmw is equipped with no spare but has run flat tires which were completely useless in this scenario. We would not have expected this kind of damage from some road debris, pothole, or any other normal circumstance.
MY 2015 BMW X3 HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON IT AND THE DRIVER DOOR CLOSURE PULL IS DETERIORATING TO A STICKY UNTOUCHABLE MESS. ALSO THE FRONT GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR LEATHER IS PULLING AWAY FROM THE BOX LEAVING AN OPEN GAP. I DID RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE WITH BMW OWNERS. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BY BMW TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE INTERIOR. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT TO AVOID HEAT OR SUN DAMAGE. WHEN I CONTACTED MY BMW DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WOULD RESULT IN 800-1000 REPAIR COST. THE LEATHER INTERIOR IS NOT THE QUALITY I EXPECTED FROM A 48,000 VEHICLE.
Alarm spontaneously triggered (whistling sound and flashing lights) twice. The first time, the vehicle had come to a stop and was in park (passengers in vehicle), with the engine running in drive-ready mode. The alarm turned off by itself after about 10 seconds. The second time, the alarm triggered while driving on a city street. It stayed triggered for several minutes, even after stopping and turning the vehicle off and on several times. (we didn't try to lock the vehicle. ) the alarm was finally turned off pressing the alarm button on the key fob.
