TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 BMW X4. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER. THE VEHICLE DROVE OVER A CURB CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE SUSPENSION. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS A FAULTY TIMING CHAIN. THE SUSPENSION DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE ENGINE WAS NOT REPAIRED. BMW OF OWINGS MILLS (9702 REISTERSTOWN RD, OWINGS MILLS, MD 21117, (410) 902-8700) WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR THE ENGINE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
While driving, collision detection activates for no reason. Very random, sometimes just warning lights and sounds, and sometimes slamming on brakes at speed over 40 mph. No cars coming in other direction or any obstacles whatsoever. Weather clear. I almost got rear-ended once. Did not activate when fox ran in front of car. I can go weeks without this happening and then it comes out of the blue. It's in the shop for the third time for this complaint and service says they have no "error codes" and can't recreate the problem. Bmwusa told service to try to recreate the problem by driving it overnight. There's a 50/50 chance it will happen when they drive it, and there still won't be error codes! Bmw won't authorize any repair until they go through these steps. This has been on and off for at least 6 months. Date below was most recent occurrence. Obviously, obtaining any documentation of proof is impossible unless i have a camera crew on me all the time. It's terrifying and dangerous!
While driving out of a pkg lot at low speed and snow conditions, multiple warning lights turned on, while vehicle slided toward colision. The car went to park (by itself) while moving fwd direction, the rear tires were spinning and the front were locked into park without any traction. While the car moved toward collision, people helped to pushed the car away from other cars, as the car moved to "park". After few seconds of trying to control the car without sucess, (the car) it was turned off and restarted to try to reset the warnings and get it moving. Car still was not responding 100% properly; got car to reverse to get some steering away from other cars and put "autosocks" on front wheels (not per mfg's manual) to get traction on front axel and try to get the front wheels to move. Once the front axel got traction, and the panel was reset, the situation was under control and avoided collision. After this, took the car to the dealership and they said that the battery had aged and that this resulted in a fault dynamic system control. There was no battery health warning that advise to look at this prior engage on travels, or anything that mentioned that low battery could affect brake system. I changed the battery and i asked how to prevent this from happenining again, there was no good answers. Bmw only adviced to replaced the battery and told me that it should be fine for few years now, but there is no way to know the life of a battery and this particular case did not provided me any battery indicator as the battery was not fully dead. According to bmw, "it provided enough charge for the basic functions but not for the safety features such as dsc". I was lucky but this is not safe, i am not the first one with this issue, and this does not have a way to maintain or prevent safely.
Drivetrain malfunction twice check engine light came on 2 days after purchasing the car had it serviced abd the exact same issues are back car will not drive
ON MAY 03, 2019, I BOUGHT A 2019 BMW X4 M40I, AT BRAMAN MOTORCARS. THIS IS NOT MY FIRST BMW, WE HAVE 3 MORE BMWS AT HOME. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS BMW X4 VEHICLE HAS NOT PERFORMED WELL AS EXPECTED! ON MAY 27, 2020 I WAS DRIVING WHILE IT WAS RAINING WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED AND NEVER TURNED ON AGAIN, IT WAS COMPLETELY USELESS AND VERY DISSATISFYING. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED AND DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE I SENT THE CAR TO BRAMAN BMW SERVICE CENTER TO CHECK IT OUT AND REQUEST THE WARRANTY AND THEY SAID THAT THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER IT THE SOLUTION IS JUST TO PAY MORE THAN $30,000.00 IN REPAIR PLUS PARKING FEES. ALSO, MY INSURANCE CARRIER SAID MY POLICY DOES NOT COVER MECHANICAL ISSUES. ALSE SENT A LETTER ASKING FOR HELP TO BMW CEO AND THEY RESPONDED THAT THE WARRANTY DO NOT COVER " OUTSIDE INFLUENCES". SO THIS GRABAGES CAR CANT BE IN A RAIN. SO NOW I HAVE MORE THAN 1 AND HALF MONTHS WITHOUT THE CAR, ALSO CALLED BMW FINANCIAL SERVICES FOR HELP AND THE SOLUTION WAS THAT I CAN RETURN THE CAR SIGNING A VOLUNTARY REPO DAMAGING MY CREDIT HISTORY. ATTACHED TO THIS EMAIL YOU WILL FIND COPIES OF THE DENIAL OF THE WARRANTY AND THE ESTIMATE THAT BRAMAN BMW SENT ME, TO REPAIR THE CAR, WHICH BY THE WAY IS ABSURD! Sunroof exploded while driving on the highway
The vehicle's dash and infotainment screens will flicker or stay off for a period of a few seconds, immediately after the vehicle will display various errors including but not limited to loss of power steering, loss of braking power, the transmission will get thrown into neutral, on some occasions the car will turn off. After a few seconds, you will regain control of the vehicle. This will happen randomly from pulling into a driveway or while in the turnpike, extremely dangerous. The vehicle has been in the service dept for over 50 days over the course of 3 months. Bmw has been unable to diagnosis the car. Electrical system ignighted and caught fire while car was off, locked and parked inside the garage.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 BMW X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER ASSISTANCE PACKAGE FAILED AND THE WARNING VIBRATION WHEN THE CONTACT ALMOST CRASHED. THE SYSTEM WAS SUPPOSED TO VIBRATE WHEN AND IF THE CONTACT WAS ABOUT TO CRASH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PACKAGE VIBRATION SIGNAL WAS VERY LOW AND THE CONTACT COULD NOT FEEL IT ACTIVATE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO KRITZ BMW SAVANNAH (7009 ABERCORN ST, SAVANNAH, GA 31406, (912) 354-7000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW VIBRATION MOTOR AND COMPUTER UPDATE WERE NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD ESCALATE THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,321. *BF THE CAR WAS ROAD TESTED AFTER REPAIR. DEALER REPAIRMEN STATED CONTACTS VEHICLE AND OTHER X 4'S ON THE LOT PERFORMED THE SAME. CONTACT STATED THAT THE "REPAIRS" DID NOT IMPROVE VIBRATION WARNING EVEN WHEN SET ON "STRONG" A VIBRATION THAT CAN ONLY BE FELT ON A SMOOTH ROAD WHEN THE DRIVER PURPOSELY CROSSES THE LANE MARKINGS IS NOT A "WARNING" AND IS UNSAFE. THE ESSENCE OF MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE LANE DEPARTURE SYSTEM WHILE "WORKING" IS NOT PROVIDING A STRONG VIBRATION THAT SERVES AS A WARNING. THE DEALER STATES MY VIBRATION MATCHES OTHERX4S AND IS THEREFORE REPAIRED. I FEEL ALL X4S ARE NO NOT PERFORMING AS DESIGNED AND ARE THEREFORE A SAFETY HAZZARD. I PURCHASED THIS CAR WITH THIS SPECIFIC FEATURE TO ASSIST MY DRIVING SHOULD I DRIFT INTO THE ON COMING LANE WITHOUT A SUFFICIENT VIBRATION (WARNING) I FEEL THE CAR IS DANGEROUS AND SOMEDAY THERE WILL BE ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS MISS REPRESENTATION. MY LAST CAR, A 2017 MERCEDES HAD A GREAT LANE DEPARTURE SYSTEM THAT REALLY WARNED WITHOUT A POSITIVE WARNING! THE DRIVER BMW HAS SOME HOW RELEASED THIS NEWLY DESIGNED MODEL.*JB
While driving during morning rush hour traffic approximately 0645, the vehicle became sluggish and eventually began shake vigorously. I was in the passing lane with vehicles driving at at speeds up to approximately 65 to 80 mph. The drive train error came on and indicated? Drive moderately.? Given that i was 3 miles from entering the monitor merrimack memorial bridge tunnel i had to make the decision to stop in the past lane or coast to the center lane between and on ramp and two lanes of traffic whizzing past. The vehicle would not go any further so i placed it in neutral to get to the safest possible scenario (between the traffic an on ramp).
Left brake lamp malfunction. Car has less than 40,000 miles and in perfect condition.
Brakes were unresponsive when trying to slow from 35 mph for stop sign. Could only depress brake pedal about a half-inch, car essentially coasted to a stop in the middle of an intersection causing a near miss. Car started to shudder violently before coming to a stop. This was the first of 2 serious brake failures for this car.
After exiting highway onto offramp, i applied brakes which did not slow car significantly, reapplied brake hard and again car car would not slow adequately. Braking power seem to be approx 10% of normal. Car began to shake and engine revved as car finally stopped in middle of intersection, near miss vs oncoming traffic.
I just got my car 3 days ago. Mileage is 275 miles. My rear brakes disc already have circles in it as if it is worn out by a piece of metal grinding against it. This has never ever happened on any of my previous bmws. This usually happens only when the brakes are worn out and procrastinating not to fix it. Why does this happen to a brand new car????
Vehicle was set with incorrect rear camber/alignment/toe-in leading to very premature inside edge rear tire wear with both rear tires. This creates unsafe handling conditions, premature tire wear, and a safety concerns when tires fail.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
This is was on highway, no truffick. One accident happened before me, was no flash lights or stop lights, when i find out what this vehicle not moving, pressed fool brake. In 150 feet of fool brake car didn't stop. I hit the car in front of me, the abs didn't work during the braking, the air bags didn't pump out. Thanks god, no body didn't get any serious injuries. That's was so scared.
