2020 Chevrolet BOLT EV
  • Date of Incident: Mar-23, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-26, 2024
  • Failed components: STEERING

The steering wheel does not return to center. When turning and then releasing the steering wheel to come out of the turn, the wheel stays where it is, causing the car to continue to turn. You must manually steer the wheel back to center position. This always happens when steering. It is not a one-time or intermittent. This is not safe as it makes the car go off the road. There is no warning light or alert from the car itself that something is wrong. I purchased the car used from a used car dealership and it is doing this when i bought it. They confirmed it. To my knowledge, no one else has inspected the vehicle's steering. Looking online, there seems to be many other chevrolet bolt owners complaining/experiencing the same steering problem.

Gm had informed about a safety recall on 2023-05-10 (almost an year ago) - nhtsa id - 23v334. I have been following up with gm as well as the chevy service dealer and have been informed that a remediation is not available yet. I am not able to sell my car at the price it deserves due to the recall. Also i have not been driving my car long distances due to the safety risk description: an inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. Can you please direct the manufacturer gm to remediate the issue at the earliest. I dont believe 1 year is a reasonable time to fix a safety issue which has the potential of diver death or permanent disablement. Regards, sharon philip

2019 Chevrolet BLAZER
  • Date of Incident: Mar-26, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-26, 2024
  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

While using my vehicle, twice in one day, my vehicle failed to recognize that it was in park. My 2019 chevrolet blazer essentially malfunctioned, and was unable to recognize that it was in park, which left me unable to leave the car to go into my office building. The car was in fact in park, but did not recognize this fact. I tried exiting the vehicle and closing the door, but the car still would not turn off. I was left to essentially babysit my car, while attempting to work the gear shifter back and forth between drive, reverse, and park, until it eventually finally accepted that it was set to park, and allowed me to fully power the car down. If i am unable to have the car recognize that it is in park, i am unable to leave it, as it can be started and driven without the fob due to the potential safety hazard of the vehicle thinking it is not properly shifted into park. The battery will also be drained, effectively leaving me with an inoperable vehicle. In the image i attached, please view the bottom right corner of the dashboard which indicates "p" for park, while the vehicle still states that i am not shifted into park. I have a video of this incident, and it appears many consumers with select models of chevrolet and gmc cars also have this issue. I find it appalling that many have already discovered this issue, yet no recall has been placed to fix this widely known issue (even by gm according to their bulleting regarding this).

2021 Chevrolet Traverse

  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM and UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I bought my 2021 Chevy Traverse brand new. Now it has about 44,000 miles on it and is just under 2 months of purchase date. I noticed that my battery light turned on yesterday while I was driving. Within seconds my vehicle stalled out and I was just coasting along in traffic, unable to restart my car. I was able to coast to the side of the freeway and jump my car. After doing so it started again so I proceeded to drive away. After about 4 more minutes my vehicle shut off again as I was driving in traffic. I was unable to get the car started again and was just a sitting duck in heavy traffic. I had the vehicle towed and a new battery was put in. My vehicle starts but the new battery is already loosing voltage. After a diagnostic test was done by the mechanics at the auto shop it looks like the alternator needs to be replaced. This is not only unheard of that such a new vehicle would already need a brand new alternator, but it was also a huge safety risk with how it all happened so quickly with VERY minimal warning and the vehicle completely shut off while I was driving in heavy traffic. So many people could have been harmed due to this malfunction.
