  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

2011 town and country started stalling while driving up to 40mph! The problem is intermitten and unable to be diagnosed by mechanic. This happens in the middle of traffic and power steering is lost. This is a known problem and was recalled in the several years before mine. This is a safety issue to everyone on the road and is a matter of time before there is an accident.

Car has had on going transmission issues with slipping and power loss that dealer was not able to diagnose. The car check engine light came on, and at the dealer the code was for cylinder failure and on inspection at the dealer the left 4th cylinder has failed and the car will need a new engine with only 80,000 miles and proper maintenance. This is available for inspection. Our safety was at risk that the car has had difficulty shifting and has lost power in traffic.

The contact owns a 2022 chrysler pacifica hybrid. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, the drivers’ side rear door opened unexpectedly. The contact’s daughter had to grasp and hold the door until the contact was able to pull over the vehicle to the side of the road. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle started to drift and noticed a failure with the transmission. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the transmission was previously repaired by the dealer, but the failure persisted. The dealer was contacted but a diagnostic test was not performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure from the dealer and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 23,756.

2013 Chrysler 200
  • Date of Incident: Feb-09, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-18, 2024
  • Failed components: AIR BAGS, UNKNOWN OR OTHER, and ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The active headrest restraint (ahr) failed. It deployed without cause and was inspected by the dealer. The issue was a small piece of plastic used in the manufacturing process. My wife was driving the car and out of nowhere a loud noise and she was struck in the back of the head. Luckily, she was driving at a slower speed and no other cars were around, she nearly went completely into the other lane. Had other cars been on the road, there would have been an accident. We took the car to the dealership when it happened with the passenger headrest a couple of years ago and the guy told us he ordered the parts to fix it, but it would take six months. We went back and he no longer works there an never ordered any parts. Since only my wife drives this car, we just let it go about the passenger headrest and moved on. I believe this is in regards to recalls s61 & t56. Both headrests are deployed and cannot be reset. To make matters worse, now the airbag warning light is illuminated at all times. An issue with airbags can be very serious and very dangerous if not addressed. After speaking on the phone with fca customer care, i was told this was fixed in 2014 (2-3 years before the recall was issued) & that it was out of warranty. I do not believe it was fixed, maybe someone inspected the car, but it was not repaired. The dealer wants to charge me $1,000 to replace the headrests and that is something i cannot do. The recall site states "safety recalls include any problem encountered with an fca us llc product related to the safe operation of the vehicle or the safety of the occupants. Fca us llc will correct the problem, at no charge, even if the vehicle is out of warranty and you are not the original owner. " this clearly does not matter to chrysler. I have no other choice but to drive the vehicle with the airbag warnings on. I am hoping you can help. This is my last resort. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer and there were no warning lights prior to this.

2018 Chrysler PACIFICA

  • Date complaint filed: Apr-18, 2024

While driving a message came across the dash to "service charging system" and then a second message appeared that said "speeds limited" and the vehicle slowed to 44mph entirely out of my control.

2019 Chrysler PACIFICA
  • Date of Incident: Apr-18, 2021
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-17, 2024
  • Failed components: POWER TRAIN

The van started with very jerky shifting around 70,000 miles. The car would, at times, lurch hard forward when shifting. Eventually, a chrysler dealer looked at the transmission and determined it needed replaced. The replacement transmission started with the same problems after about 20,000 miles. Van currently has only 115,000 miles.

2018 Chrysler PACIFICA
  • Date of Incident: Apr-08, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-17, 2024
  • Failed components: SUSPENSION

There is a loud creaking noise coming from the front end, most likely suspension. It seems worse when the car is turning and even more so when backing up and turning steering wheel. I am aware of the v15 recall for the pacific and from what i have read the symptoms are nearly identical. Along with this there are at times more of a clicking sound.

2018 Chrysler PACIFICA
  • Date of Incident: Apr-08, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-17, 2024
  • Failed components: STEERING

The steering wheel seems to "lock" or become stiff when traveling over 50 miles an hour. It does not happen all the time, but causes over correction which is scary at higher speeds

2019 Chrysler PACIFICA
  • Date of Incident: Mar-27, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-16, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE

Engine failure; engine light p0306 error, cylinder 6 head gasket blown. Mileage 62k, year 2019. Yes, vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle was a danger to my family and others, as it unexpectedly overheated on the freeway, and there were no known engine problems to that point. I drive a minivan for my family (2 parents and 3 children), and i am also a carpool parent for two other children, and regularly drive children to and from school, twice a day. An engine failure with no warning is a massive danger and a huge compromise to safety to the families involved and those on the road around us as it occurred unexpectedly on a freeway, at freeway speeds. Upon inspection by a mechanic, it was discovered that the vehicle had no coolant, the coolant had been leaking into the engine, causing mis-firing of cylinder 6, and the car overheated due to low coolant levels; the cylinder head gasket and exhaust manifold gasket was replaced. Additional engine components in poor condition and also replaced: all spark plugs, coolant housing, timing chain tensioner a and b, front crank shaft seal, timing cover gasket, oil filter housing, and rear engine mount. Additionally the cylinder head needed to be resurfaced. The vehicle/component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance reps. The vehicle and faulty components have been inspected by a mechanic. Leading up to the engine failure, there were no warnings of low coolant, as there is no coolant sensor; the engine light only turned on the day of engine failure; and a few days before engine failure, the only symptom observed was slightly stronger idling than normal, almost imperceptible.
