We bought the chrysler van new in 2018. One year (~10,000 miles) later, the van developed rough upshifting. It does not happen every time but it occasionally bangs into gear very violently under slow acceleration at 30 - 35 mph. We took the van to chrysler mechanics but they could not reproduce the rough shift so they would not do anything about it. Every time it happens, it scares me to death. It feels like a sledgehammer hit the van!

WE HAVE A 2018 Pacifica LIMITED HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING, IT BEEPED, THEN MESSAGE APPEARED TO SAY "SHIFT TO P". THE VAN THEN LOST MOTIVE POWER SHORTLY AFTER. ONCE STOPPED, SHUT DOWN ENGINE THEN RESTARTED, IT WOULD DRIVE AGAIN. THIS ALSO OCCURRED A FEW TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, I HAD TO QUICKLY GET TO EMERGENCY LANE/SHOULDER. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH CARS WHIPPING BY US WHILE WE STOPPED WITH VAN FULL OF KIDS. BUT IT ALWAYS RESTARTED BACK AND WE WERE ABLE TO KEEP GOING. ENGINE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON BUT THEN WOULD DISAPPEAR LATER. WE TOOK IT TO OUR DEALER (FRESNO CHRYSLER JEEP) AND THEY SAID "SOFTWARE ISSUE" AND THAT THEY WILL UPDATE IT. I DIDN'T GET TO TALK TO THE ADVISOR BUT LOOKING AT THE SERVICE BILL - UNCLEAR IF ANYTHING WAS DONE. THEY DROVE IT AROUND FOR 30 MIN AND ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON. THE VEHICLE ALREADY HAS DONE ALL THE RECALLS PREVIOUSLY. WE TOOK IT HOME - SHORTLY AFTER THIS HAPPENED AGAIN. NOT SURE WHAT CONDITION TRIGGERS IT. MY WIFE WILL TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER TODAY AND WILL ASK THEM AT LEAST CHANGE THE 12V BATTERY (NOT SURE IF THAT IS THE REASON BUT PER FORUM DISCUSSION, THIS CAN BE A CULPRIT). THE PROBLEM IT SEEMS IS THAT DEALERS ARE IN THE DARK ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND MOST PROBABLY DONT HAVE CLUE HOW TO ADDRESS IT.

I was stopped at light going straight and when the light turned green, i pressed on the gas pedal but the van wouldn't move as it had stalled out. The shift knob was stuck on drive which started blinking and the start/stop warning light came on. I turned the vehicle off and tried to restart it but it still failed to move. I tried to restart it a second time and this time it did start to move. Extremely inconvenient and unsafe when stuck in the middle of an intersection. Also have had issues with the left passenger rear door continously opening back up after trying to close it. Nothing is in the way of the door which i had confirmed multiple times so i'm not sure if something is wrong with the sensor or if it's part of the electrical system failing.

THIS VEHICLE WITH UNSAFE DEADLY DRIVING CONDITIONS BEGAN AS A NEW VEHICLE AT AROUND 1300 MILES. ACCELERATION OF Chrysler Pacifica WHILE DRIVING AT 55 TO 75 MILES PER HOUR WITH THE ENGINE OF VEHICLE DOES NOT SLOW DOWN BUT STAYS STUCK AND DOES NOT SLOW DOWN AND REMAINS AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. DOCUMENTED OVER 350 INCIDENTS OF THIS SUBJECT PACIFICA FOR 3 YEARS. OFTEN, I COULD NOT STOP THE ENGINE FROM RACING AT ITS HIGHEST RATE OF SPEED WHILE ON FREEWAYS AND OTHER ROADS. THIS VEHICLES ENGINE DOES NOT SLOW DOWN AND BEGIN FORCED PUMPING OF BRAKES MAKING THE VEHICLE RISE IN HEIGHT AND.. II COULD NOT STOP THIS PACIFICA ENGINE FROM SHUTDOWN RACING ENGINE UNTIL I PLACE THE SHIFT MECHANISM IN NEUTRAL TO SLOW IT DOWN AND KEEP IN FROM CRASHING INTO A FORWARD VEHCILE OBJECT. THE ENGINE GETS STUCK IN ITS FORMER HIGHEST RATE OF SPEED FOR 30 TO 45 SECONDS.ON A GOOD NUMBER OF OCCASIONS I HAVE TAKEN THIS SUBJECT VEHICLE TO RAY LATHEM DEALERSHIP IN DETROIT, MICHIGAN. THE DEALERSHIP PUT THOUSANDS OF MILES ON MY LEASED VEHICLE AND STATED THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE SAFETY STUCK ACCELERATION PROBLEM WAS. CHRYSLER WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ANY SAFETY ACCELERATION PROBLEMS AND I HAD MY VEHICLE TESTED BY SOFTWARE ENGINEERS AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE AFOREMENTIONED CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAS DEFECTIVE UT MODULES, POWERTRAIN CONTROL PCM REPROGRAM MODULE POWERTRAIN CONTROL. THIS PACIFICA ENGINE CONTINUED TO STICK CAUSING THE ENGINE TO RACE A ITS FORMER HIGHEST RATE OF SPPED OF 55 OR 70 MILES PER HOUR. DURING WINTER WEATHER LIKE RAIN, SNOW OR ICE THIS VEHICLE WOULD TURN SIDEWAYS WHILE GETTING OFF THE FREEWAY SERVICE DRIVE. WHILE THIS IS MY 4TH CHRYSLER MINI VAN I HAVE PLACED MY FAMILY CHILDREN AT HIGH RISK OF BEING INJURED IN A CAR ACCIDENT. I HAVE WRITTEN THE PRESIDENT OF CHRYSLER AND ALL THIS STRESS THIS COST ME OVER 9,500 ADDITIONAL MILEAGE PENALTIES OF .28 CENTS PER MILE.. .

The last couple of weeks noticed that while driving the steering wheel seems to lock, and have to almost jerk move it. Also it becomes very stiff. Called the dealer about anyone reporting this issue or any recalls, they say no.

Lst year our transmission began to make "clunking" sounds and felt like we were getting "rear-ended". Local dealer said it was a needed software update on a computer. Did the repair and worked well for a year. Now, it is starting to do that again but not frequently. I am reporting this because there seems to be quite a few other similar complaints about this.

Driver side door constantly opens. I hit the button to close and it opens right back up. My daughters car seat is right there, so when i go to put her in her car seat say while it? S raining or snowing and i hit it to close to walk away, bam it? S right back open. It never stays shut. It takes me 5 times to finally shut my door. This happens all the time. Anytime the van is running or off it does this.

Vehicle was brought to dealership 3/9/21 for nocking on l/f. Dealer diagnosed strut as problem. Part is on b/o. Chrysler mfg. Has been contacted for assistance to secure part and attaching parts to remedy the situation. Currently they have not done anything but promise dates that parts will be available. (they are still missing two parts). They have not answered my request to provide solution or a rental so i can drive a safe vehicle. All of this is strange since chrysler is actively building the car. One would think they have the parts on the assembly line! ............ Thank you carl / galaxy medical

When in motion, usually from first gear shifting to second gear, the transmission will jolt or bang, at which point i have to let off the gas peddle to allow it to let? S say, catch up, on the shift. It clunks fairly hard, not sure why chrysler has not recalled for this issue. We have also had issues when we go over the top of a hill with the cruise control on and start go down the hill and the vehicle will pick up speed and the transmission will downshift and the engine rpm will spike up to 3000-4000 rpm. As i know this is going to happen, i do shut the cruise off when this happens and it will settle back to normal operation. We have had it to our chrysler dealer for the transmission issue with the clunking and they just shrugged it off and do nothing at all. I cannot put a date on the actual occurrences because it is ongoing and still does it at random at times. Also, i cannot really give actually dates and mileage as to when this happens as it is random.

This vehicle is a handicap conversion van modified by revability / vmi in the modification - revability has replaced the factory fuel tank with one of their own design and construction. In doing so - they use the chrysler factory components such as the fuel pump, fuel gauge sender unit, emissions connections, etc. However - the fuel gauge has never worked properly since i purchased the van and it gives misleading information about the fuel level. It registers only 3/4 full on the dash when in fact the tank is full. If you try to add any more fuel (as i found out when i first purchased the van) - it affects the emissions controls severely and makes the van un-drivable; in fact the engine will stall unexpectedly in traffic which is a severe hazard. Further - the low tank level is unpredictable so you are never sure when to refill, if the fuel gets too low then the engine can also stop in traffic. The company is well aware of this problem but cannot fix it. I have had it to the original selling dealership (jay hatfield mobility in lee's summit missouri) several times as revability said the repairs were covered under their manufactures warranty. The dealership has been unable to fix the problem and has since not renewed their contract with revability. So the problem still exists and the powertrain 'check engine' light comes on periodically - which jay hatfield mobility said they had nothing to do with and would not do any further repairs. My wife is handicapped and in daily rehab treatment - so i need this van every day and need it fixed properly - however the van conversion manufacturer has no instructions or information that they can supply for a correct repair. I believe that revability / vmi should be responsible for fixing this problem properly or replacing this van as it is / can be a safety hazard to operate without a properly functioning fuel gauge.

Multiple times while stationary when starting the car, the push button starter will fail to start the engine. Upon second attempt to start the car the starter has a prolonged series of cranks and finally starts. The concern is this has happened multiple times after just purchasing the car. This could be a safety issue if it happens while driving, and engine shuts off, or could strand us without the the ability to start the car.

Occasionally, when accelerating from a stop, or low speed, the engine seems to increase rpms while the car temperarily slows, and then the car lurches forward and emits a loud mechanical clank. The whole sensation is similar to my car being "rear-ended" by another vehicle.

I was driving straight at 40mph. The engine turned off, but electrical maintained. After a couple hundred feet the engine came back on. Without pushing on the gas the engine accelerated the car over a short distance, break was inputted and full control was restored to the physical. We took the vehicle to the dealer, but nothing was done as they couldn't replicate the issue. This vehicle has had numerous electrical issues.

Loss of power steering when driving

The vehicle is an electric and gas hybrid vehicle. While driving the vehicle at highway speeds, the vehicle goes completely dead. There is no power to accelerate, no power steering, reduced braking. This happened in june of 2020 and the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. The dealership had the vehicle for approx. 3 weeks to repair and a new electrical inverter was installed. A similar event happened on 04-13-2021, however this time once the vehicle went dead and the vehicle coasted to a stop, after trying to turn the vehicle back on it was again under power. The vehicle was able to be cautiously driven to the dealership and at the time of writing this it is being services for this issue. In both the june 2020 and current situation, there was an error code stating "service charging system". In both circumstances, this has occurred at highway speeds with significant urban traffic. My wife was driving the vehicle this last time with our child in the vehicle. When this happened she was on a one lane express lane where people travel at the highest highway speeds. She was so concerned about getting struck by another vehicle she considered having both of them depart the vehicle and cross multiple lanes of traffic to get to safety. It is extremely dangerous for the people in the vehicle and for cars around the stalled vehicle. Thankfully they did not get struck.

Intermittent stopping of rear ac/heating unit.

The power steering would go out, a notice would come up stating " power steering unavailable", then the power steering would work for about 60 seconds and go out again and then repeat the problem. This just starting happening on 4/10/21. We had just gotten into the van and started driving, we went about 1/2 mile, it happened a total of 4 times. We turned around and brought the vehicle back home and it happened 2 more times

Issue with horn, lights, coolent, engine gaskets, park brakes sticking, turning signal,, electrical al connected some how but 4 chrysler dealers and they can't duplicate it even with pics and video i've shown. Paying for car i can't use. Any other similar issues or am i the only one driving the ghost car.

From a stop at a stop light, when light turned green accelerated to about 18 mph (going straight through light) then lost all power (with accelerator still depressed) while in middle of the intersection. At that same time a notification displayed on the dashboard for about 5 seconds stating "adaptive cruise control (acc) off". After about 5 seconds notification disappeared and power returned to vehicle. This exact issue happened twice in the same day.
