THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V461000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 107,194.
Our dodge caravan is 2 years old and the passenger side door locks won? T lock or unlock with the fob or the actual door locks on the inside. It just stopped working. It was stuck in the lock position and we couldn? T get my daughter out of the car without using the other door. The van is not longer under warranty for this issue as it has 45,000 miles on it. We bought the van from hertz 11 months. This is a safety issue and is a known issue with dodge caravans. There should be a recall on it. The dodge dealership wants to charge $1700 for the actuator another ott that will probably break when they replace it and also an issue with the left control stick although working wasn? T registering with the codes. It is $1300 just for the actuator, master switch and labor. The van was stationary when we first noticed it. We got back to the van when it was locked and parked and we couldn? T open the passenger side door because it was stuck in the lock position.
Driver's side rear sliding door will not open. Per dealer, "found actuator internal fault. Replace left sliding door lock actuator and c pillar appliques. "
The sliding door on the driver side just quit opening about 6 months ago, last week the transmission has went completely out. I was getting ready to leave home and when i put the van in drive it pulled off and when i got up to the speed limit and the rpm's was going up the van wouldn't shift. I sent it to the shop and they just called me saying that the transmission is completely gone and i need a new transmission or a re-build. This van is a 2016 with 78,000 miles. I am still paying on this vehicle and i am having all these problems. I would like to know if there is any recalls or complaints about this vehicle.
7/21/2020 - DRIVING THROUGH A LEFT TURN ON A MAIN ROAD AND LOST ALL ELECTRIC- STEERING, BRAKES, DASHBOARD. COASTED TO THE LEFT TURN LANE. APPLIED PRESSURE TO BRAKES, BUT WAS STILL ROLLING. HAD TO THROW IT INTO PARK TO STOP AN ACCIDENT FROM HAPPENING. TURNED VAN OFF AND RESTARTED VAN. DROVE TO THE GAS STATION ACROSS THE STREET AND HAD IT TOWED. I HAD FIVE CHILDREN IN MY VAN, THIS MAJOR SAFETY MALFUNCTION COULD HAVE KILLED ALL OF US. DEALERSHIP HAD THE VAN FOR 10 DAYS AND CLAIMED ONE POSSIBILITY WAS WINTER GAS STILL AVAILABLE AT GAS STATIONS COMBINED WITH WARM WEATHER. OFFERED NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN TO PICK UP MY VAN. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO MY OTHER Dodge Grand Caravan MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL I FINALLY FELT LIKE I COULDN?T CHANCE MY LIFE ANYMORE AND TURNED IT IN. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN, DOCUMENTED DODGE ISSUE!! THE SERVICE AGENT IGNORED MY REQUESTS TO LOOK INTO IT. NO CODE SHOWS FOR THIS ISSUE AND IT DIDN?T HAPPEN DURING THEIR DRIVE, SO THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THEY ARE SELLING DEATH TRAPS. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN I PUMP GAS AND MY TANK IS ALREADY OVER A HALF OF TANK, THE SENSOR READS FULL AND THE HANDLE CLICKS OFF.
Drivers side sliding door stuck shut with my mom in the seat, she is highly claustrophobic, she almost had a panic attack by the time we were able to get the other side unloaded so she could slide out of the back seat. This was a serious health issue for my 76 year old mother, what if both sides had stuck shut, she probably would have had a heart attack before we were able to figure out how to get her out. This needs to be fixed and now. Door still stuck locked shut and there was no warning when it happened, it just did. She is scared to ride in my vehicle now because she doesn't want to be stuck inside again.
When i unlock doors, there is a buzzing sound. Passenger sliding door, actuator is going bad. It is loud, annoying and it could lead to a safety issue with lock working.
While driving to work, the driver side head rest deployed. I was not involved in an accident, just idling at a stoplight. Thankfully, i did not sustain any injuries. I called the dealership i purchased from and the service department said that the repair cost would be out of my pocket. How is this ok when it clearly has to be a manufacturer malfunction. I was involved on a accident on july 6, 2020 as i was crossing the interstation i was struck by another minivan on the driver side near frontal area. The impact of the accident had totaled my van as well as the other van. But my airbags near deployed i hit my head on the side of the door, i hurt my neck and my back pretty bad. BOUGHT A 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan FROM DEALER WITH ABOUT 56000 MILES ON IT. IDLED A LITTLE ROUGH, BUT HAD ONE IN THE PAST WITH SAME ISSUE. WITHIN 5000 MILES, MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2. TOOK TO DEALER, THEY CHANGED PLUGS AND COIL. WITHIN 500 MILES, SAME LIGHT CAME ON, MISFIRE CYLINDER 2. TOOK BACK AND THEY MOVED PLUG AND COIL. DROVE FOR PROBABLY 600 MILES AND LIGHT CAME BACK ON. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER AND AFTER DIGGING DISCOVERED LOW COMPRESSION IN CYLINDER 2. THEY TALKED TO DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE IN THESE MOTORS. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS TO BE TAKEN TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED SINCE THE HEAD HAS TO BE WORKED ON. MY DEALERSHIP DOESN'T HAVE THE TOOLS TO PROPERLY FIX. LUCKILY I PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY, HOWEVER IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, I AM REQUESTING A LOOK INTO MAKING IT A RECALL ACROSS THE BOARD SO NO OTHER INDIVIDUAL HAS THE SAME ISSUE.
The drive side sliding door locking mechanism gets stuck and will not open, close, or unlock correctly, presenting a safety issue if something were to happen and you could not get out quickly and safely. The only way to get the door working properly is to hold down the manual lock and press the button on the fob to open the door at the same time. It will work fine for a bit but then the same issue will happen. This does not seem to be an isolated incident in reading online reports.
The driver's side sliding door on our 2016 dodge caravan cannot be opened. It stopped working after having the vehicle for less than two years. It cannot be opened from the inside or outside which is a safety concern for passengers trying to get out of the vehicle quickly in an emergency. I was driving our automatic 2016 dodge caravan when it suddenly lost power and wouldn't accelerate. It felt like i was about to run out of gas. The mechanic has spent the last 3 weeks doing extensive (and expensive) testing to find out what is wrong. He said that it is going into 'limp mode' and is stuck in second gear. It is undrivable and unsafe in the current condition. The mechanic said it is a 'shift solenoid' issue and that we need a brand new transmission, which will cost $4000. We bought the vehicle brand new and have only put 73,000 miles on it. Seems early to need a new transmission so i am wondering if some of the power train components used by the manufacturer were faulty.
My rear sliding door on the passengers side will not unlock manually, with the key fob, or with any of the control panels from the inside effectively locking and trapping anyone inside who does not have access from another door. The drivers side, sliding door actuator stopped functioning. There was no way to open the door at all. Not from inside or outside of the vehicle. We researched online that this seems to be a huge problem that chrysler knows about but refuses to remedy. In fact, many people seem to have the problem again, even using the dealer to replace the actuator. It's a safety issue that would not allow my kids to exit the vehicle in an accident, fire, other emergecy.
