2016 FIAT 500X EASY SPORT AWD. I TOOK MY CAR IN LAST YEAR DUE TO A CODE IT WAS THREW RELATING TO ENGINE COOLING FAN & FOUND IT WAS ON AN UPDATED RECALL; CAR WAS STALLING BOTH WHILE DRIVING & WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP, HAD EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION (1 QRT NEEDED EVERY 2 WKS), SHIFTED HARD FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND ALSO HAD ODD IDLING SOUND AT SPEEDS BTWN 15-25MPH WITH SUDDEN ?POWER BURST? AND LAST, EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM ENGINE RIGHT BEFORE IT THREW THE CODE. FIAT RECALL ASSISTANCE VERY HELPFUL AND GOT ME THE REPLACEMENT PART AND SERVICED AT LOCAL DEALERSHIP. RECALL NEVER SHOWED UP UNDER NHTSA EVEN TO THIS DAY. THE REPLACEMENT PART SEEMED TO CURE ALL EXCEPT FOR THE ODD IDLING SOUND. IT?S AS THOUGH CAR IS GOING TO STALL ANY SECOND, ALMOST A ?KNOCKING? IN ENGINE AND SLIGHT SHAKING CAN BE FELT. RECVD NOTICE TODAY FROM SAME DEALERSHIP THAT TOOK CARE OF LAST RECALL ON MY CAR. APPARENTLY IT HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE POWERTRAIN RECALL 16V529000, SO I WILL BE SCHEDULING AN APPT TOMORROW. WHEN I TRIED TO FIND THE RECALL, MY VIN SEARCH CAME BACK WITH ?YOU HAVE 0 UNREPAIRED RECALLS???? I HAD TO COMPLETE A SEARCH WITHOUT THE VIN TO FIND OUT WHAT CAMPAIGN IT WAS UNDER. IF DEALER IS SENDING ME ALERTS, CERTAINLY NHTSA SHOULD HAVE MY CAR LISTED FOR THE SAME RECALL AS THEY DO...YOU GUYS DO ALL GO OFF THE SAME RECALL DATABASE AS MFG DO, DON?T YOU?
This car in betwen oil changes burn the oil complete. We talk about 4 / 6 months. The first time my wife drive the car and the motor stop in the middle of the street, very dangerus. After aprox. 6 months later before change the oil burn one more time and the motor was empty, no oil. In both cases i add oil in order to move the car to the dealership. The dealership have service bolletin, they check the car, they said is normal for this car. Somebody need die in order to the dealership recognaize is a real problem.
At 15,595 miles i discovered more than an ounce of oil in the intake. I recognize on turbo and supercharged cars some blowby is to be expected. This is typically remedied by an engine oil separator (aka a catch can). The 2019 has a factory installed catch can (mopar part number 68320849aa) yet still shows signs of excessive blowby and oil consumption (google the complaints). The dealer (dayton andrews in clearwater fl) is telling me this is normal. Yet they can provide no service bulletins or any documentation from mopar/fiat stating this is acceptable. This amount of blow by and oil consumption can lead to fouled plugs, pcv system and significantly impacting emissions and overall engine reliability.
The matte black/heritage strip is absorbing water a d causing discoloration. I tried washing it off thinking it is a water spot but have been informed the protective coating over the matte black is the issue and it was a common problem in europe.
