2018 Ford F-150
  • Date of Incident: Apr-18, 2024

  • Failed components: POWER TRAIN

The vehicle hesitates for several seconds and then very forcefully hard shifts going from 7th to 8th gear every time. If i am stuck in a steady flow of traffic where it is constantly shifting up and down for lights or people stopping to turn, the vehicle will sometimes lurch and hesitate multiple times in a row like it's playing tug of war. I've taken it to to the dealer for all my regular oil changes and ford keeps telling me it's normal because of the "adaptive driving". It has done this since i purchased the vehicle in 2019 and progressively gotten more aggressive as time goes. I currently have just over 75k miles currently. I can get online and search 2018 ford 10 speed transmission hard shift issues and people are complaining left and right. Many have said it has led to transmission failure prematurely, as early as 65k miles. Ford has no fix for the issue but all the ford service departments know about it. We have seen service bulletins released regarding the issue but no permanent solution to actually fix the issue. And yet, ford still refuses to issue a recall for this specific transmission issue. We already have a 2018 ford focus with a blown motor at 65k miles sitting in our driveway due to fords neglect and i doubt it will be long before we have a broken truck too if this is allowed to go unaddressed. I am terrified that i will be driving to or from work and the transmission will fail catastrophically and leave me stranded on a busy highway with no shoulders. I hope this persuades someone to take action. Thank you.

2015 Ford Focus
  • Date of Incident: Apr-16, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-18, 2024
  • Failed components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN, and ENGINE

Stopped to get gas. Turned off engine. After filling up gas tank, car would not start, or crank/turn over. No check engine light has been on, no warning lights. Disconnected battery for about fifteen min. Car started up. Took it to shop, they changed out the evap Purge system. It failed when they tested it so they changed that out. Car did not stall when they test drove it. Car stalled two more times. Once when accelerating from a red light, and second time when just sitting in idle. Car just shuts itself off but the radio stays on. This is such a safety hazard because of the fact that not only does it stall in the middle of me driving But I’m very lucky I didn’t get rear ended or T boned because of this. So I thought this issue was fixed but obviously not. After the last time it stalled after getting it fixed, I then had it towed to a Ford dealership. I know this has been a recall on other Ford Focuses. For some reason not mine which is a 2015 Focus. Last year I had to have the TCM fixed which was a recall so that was free however then they tell me that my clutch went bad at 60k miles? I shelled out almost $3k for that nonsense. Now This stalling it constantly Day after day at 75k miles? Thanks a lot FORD. Take your piece of crap back and issue this a recall. Either way it’s Ford’s fault and should pay for this safety issue for free.

2013 Ford Escape
  • Date of Incident: Apr-16, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-18, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE

This 2013 Escape has a 1.6L Ecoboost engine with a known engine design flaw that allows coolant to leak and be consumed through cylinders 2 and 3. This is known to cause car fires, overheating of the engine, etc.. I recently experienced the precipitous consumption of coolant through the engine which resulted in abrupt warning messages and an overheating message after which I stopped the car immediately. This could happen to anyone on a freeway or in bad traffic causing immediate safety issues for the driver/passengers. Thankfully I was very near home when this happened. I have had my vehicle inspected, pressure tested and documented confirmation that coolant is in fact leaking into cylinders 2 and 3. The only known remedy is an engine replacement (with one that was redesigned and released by Ford in 2022). I want Ford to recall all cars with the 1.5, 1.6, 2.0 and 2.3L versions of this Ecoboost Engine which has been well documented to have this flaw, and provide said engine replacement at no cost to the owner.

  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

A software update to the sync 3 system was sent out to my vehicle after the update took place the radio system as well as navigation, backup camera, and self parking all failed to work. And the system never turned back on again. After diagnosis from ford dealership it was declared that the apim needs to be replaced. I tried to voice my problem to ford corporate via phone calls, emails, and letter and they did not acknowledge that the problem was from the update.

2017 Ford Edge

Evap system purge valve problem after filling gas tank and leaving station, vehicle stuttering and stalled on road (safety issue). I had to wait to restart and then give it gas and brake at same time to get car moving. Engine light appeared. Took vehicle to o'reilly auto parts store 4-12-24 for diagnostic scan of problem. Code was p1450 unable to bleed up fuel tank vacuum repair canister purge valve/solenoid. Took vehicle to ford dealership on 4/17/24 with information on code. Ford confirmed repair was required. I googled the issue and noticed ford has recalls for this problem and asked if my vehicle was covered. Ford said "unfortunately your vehicle is not included", so i had to pay for repair. No choice as this problem is a driving safety issue. It appears from njtsa. Gov and other websites that many others have complained about this problem on this vehicle.

Violent front end shimmy (death wobble) at highway speeds. Seems to be worsening. Happened in interstate traffic near atlanta georgia. Extreme concern as i was among multiple vehicles with many behind me as well, all moving at highway speeds. I could not stop the problem until i had slowed to about 20 miles per hour.

This truck had the cam phaser cold rattle issue repaired at 42,490 miles. The new parts used were the same problematic part numbers as the original parts, intake part hl3z-6256-cd and exhaust hl3z-6c525-cd. The same issue has presented itself again while i am just over the 100k miles extended warranty that i had on the truck. Ford corporate and the local ford dealers are well aware of the issue and repaired the problem with the same defective parts. A new part number has been redesigned with a new part number that will actually fix the manufacturing defect, this is intake part ml3z-6256-a and exhaust part ml3z-6c525-a. I called the dealer and asked for the repair to be covered under warranty and was told no, i then was directed to contact ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673 and they admitted they are aware of the problem, but were not willing to help on the financial cost of the repair as the truck was nto under any extended warranty.
