I was made aware that my car has a recall. I took it to the dealership (world car kia hyundai north, san antonio, tx) to get fixed and they told me that there is no remedy for it. I stressed to them that i was worried about my car and that i have a child that is always in the car with me. They told me to keep looking on google and that google would tell me when there is a fix. I would like a different car or my money back but it seems like they will not do that for me.

My engine auto start/stop feature. Yes its available for inspection. My safety and others were put at risk because this auto stop/start feature will shut the engine down comlpetely and teh system willm ake you do a full restart. I've had sveeral extreme close calls when i stopped at the light and this feature shut my car down completely and i was almost hit because i was stuck out in the middle of traffic. My car is at the service repair now. There were no warning lights at all, and upon looking online there has been several cars effected by this and genesis can't seem to pinpoint an exact problem. Many consumers have complained about this and genesis hasn't responded quickly enough given the safety issue.
The contact's father-in-law owned a 2022 genesis gv70. The contact stated while the driver was driving at an undisclosed speed during rainy weather conditions, the driver crashed into a ford fusion at an unknown location and there was a third vehicle impacted that crashed into a wall. The driver of the vehicle that crashed into a wall sustained fatal injuries and no further information was available. The driver's seat belt was fastened however it failed to restrain him during the impact. The air bags deployed. The contact stated according to the police report filed, the fatality of their father-in-law was caused by seat belt failure. The contact stated the father-in-law hit their head on the steering wheel causing blunt force trauma on impact to be the cause of death. The vehicle was towed and deemed a total loss. The failure mileage was unknown.
Oil sensor oil sensor in 2017 genesis goes bad & genesis knows it. When the vehicle is at a complete stop or is slowing down, oil pressure sensor comes on. Whenever you begin to accelerate, it goes off. Genesis already knows this…which is why they already issued a recall on “dh” body style models (like my 2017 genesis g80) in korea, where the cars are produced, but refuses to issue a recall in the us market. Upon googling i see that this is a common problem that an insane amount of people have also experience, again, enough of a problem to cause the korean market, where these are manufactured to issue a recall. It’s not covered under warranty & the sensor is located so deep in the engine behind the manifold, it typically is a $800–1250 repair for a sensor that cost less than $200 due to the labor involved to repair it, however some local genesis dealership quoted as much as $1600 to get it, replaced due to how much they charge per hour of labor. The quote from my local dealership in houston texas was $1250. This doesnt seem to be a problem w/ the new body style genesis vehicles but is for mine the 2017 genesis g80 (this body style is known as“bh” & was called the “hyundai genesis” in its 2015 & 2016 models, the 2017 model was 1st year as “genesis g80” when genesis broke off hyundai to be separate but its the same body besides the badge which makes sense why the problem continued into the 2017 & 2018 genesis g80) not only should this not be such a common issue where you have so many people talking about how it happened to their car (& who knows how many people this happened to who didn’t post anything online) but genesis owners in the us shouldn’t be on the hook to pay upwards of $1600 for an issue genesis already knows exists…which is why they already issued a recall on “dh” body style models (like my 2017 genesis g80) in korea, where the cars produced, but refuses to issue a recall in us market.. Clearly they know or wouldn't have issued recall in the korean market
Oil leaking on left side turbo from turbo oil feed line. No remedy for recall, manufacturer not willing to provide alternative transportation until remedy is available. If oil leak continues, fire is likely to occur.
The vehicle started smoking dec 2023. Placed it in the shop and got a diagnostic finding out about the turbocharge oil pipe leak. Two days after i got the car out the shop a recall was issued for the turbo oil pipe genesis recall 019g. Called genesis corporate office and the case worker says it’s nothing they can do due to me being the 2nd owner and my vehicle is a fire hazard smoking , shutting off while coming to a stop or reversing. I have a car note and have not been able to drive my vehicle in 3months. This is an big inconvenience and genesis isn’t trying to accommodate me for my trouble. T
Ongoing problem with vehicle ac been to dealer 10 times for repair but problem persist. Ac stops blowing cold air or has minimal blowing pressure after several hours of driving. Sometimes a noise behind the glove compartment like something knocking. Seems like system freezes as it will operate normally/properly after vehicle has been stopped for about30-45 minutes 1st issue occurred 3/24/21at 24143 miles and continues to occur when vehicle is driven long distance with ac running
Steering wheel stays in the turned position and must be pulled back to return the wheel to center. Genesis is aware of this problem and has issued a technical service bulletin #20-st-004hg on 10/2020. Genesis only covered the repair to vehicles while under original warranty which is now expired for all 2018 genesis models.
