2021 GMC SIERRA 1500
  • Date of Incident: Nov-23, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Nov-28, 2023
  • Failed components: WHEELS and UNKNOWN OR OTHER

5 days after purchasing and while driving down the interstate at 80 mph, there was a loud clunk at the same time the back wheels locked up for a split second, long enough to burn the tires and throw everyone in the vehicle forward then the vehicle continued on. It happened three more times, we trailered it and brought it to the dealer. They said nothing is wrong with it. However, i was able to locate the previous owners who stated they'd been bringing it to several dealerships to have it taken care of for the past six months and every dealer said that nothing is wrong with it. But the same thing happened to them for six months. One mechanic in idaho even replaced the motor trying to fix it and it still continued. The dealer i purchased from never mentioned it having a new motor, and i pulled the carfax report and it shows several times it was in the shop including the motor replacement, but the shop visits aren't detailed it just says maintenance. Several mechanics we've spoken with say it's in the transmission, drivetrain. But the dealer refuses to do anything unless it'll replicate when they test drive it. But they don't test drive it on the highway or for a long enough time. Multiple owners now in multiple states the same problem and no one will help. This could be a catastrophic incident if the roads had been a little wet or someone was close enough behind us when it happened it would have been a serious car accident, if not worse. I am not sure you can help but im reaching out to everything that i can find.

2021 GMC YUKON
  • Date of Incident: Nov-20, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Nov-27, 2023
  • Failed components: ENGINE

On monday, november 20, 2023, i was operating my vehicle on interstate 80 in western nebraska when suddenly and without any notice, apparently an engine lifter in cylinder 8 failed causing the vehicle to lose power while in heavy semi-truck traffic, while operating at approximately 80 mph, forcing me to avoid a collision. Since the incident, i have become aware that this is a known problem with gmc, and that they have extended their power train warranty under certain circumstances because so many engine lifters are failing, many without notice or warning. My vehicle is serviced every 6,000 miles at a gm dealer and also operates the onstar system. Neither the dealer nor onstar detected the failure or warned me of any issues that cause a stall while in traffic. Fortunately, i am an experienced driver and was able to safely pull the vehicle off the highway.

Driving down the highway and brake pedal became hard to push down almost causing us to wreck. Keep seeing there was a recall for the brake vacuum pump and also brake assist warning came on. Also when driving low speed like in parking lot it takes a while for vehicle to come to a complete stop

With the number of deaths and injuries reported due to the airbag malfunction, gm has done little to remedy this issue. At the time of the 5/10/23 notification of the airbag recall, my vehicle was "grounded" out of a concern for my safety. Since six months has passed since the recall was initiated, gm has appeared to have assessed the situation and decided that the price of one life will cost them less than the cost of one replaced airbag.

2022 GMC Terrain
  • Date of Incident: Oct-04, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Nov-27, 2023
  • Failed components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

We did the recall for the fuel module. Now the fuel guage goes to empty when tank is full. Took it in for repair they said couldnt find anything wrong. A few days later it did read incorrectly said quarter tank my wife ran out of gas in a bad area. Called preston the dealer we bought it from they wanted me to bring it in again i told them to order the part they replaced because we never had an issue till they did the recall. Was told it would be 6 to 8 months to get part. I feel this is a bad problem we have to watch our mileage to make sure we dont run out of gas. Brand new car and they cant get parts thats ridiculous. And now engine light is on

2018 GMC SIERRA 1500
  • Date of Incident: Nov-21, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Nov-27, 2023
  • Failed components: POWER TRAIN

I have a 2018 gmc sierra 1500, it is over 5 years. So we all know our warranties are either expired and meaning out of pocket expenses will come. I mainly drive back and forth to work so my vehicle only 43,924 miles to be exact. So tell me why gm allows us to purchase a vehicle with defect oil in the transmission knowing the torque converter will start shuttering causing some of us to purchase a new transmission and if we lucky a transmission flush. So yes i took it to the dealership causing me over $850 to have a diagnosis, computer hook up, and a transmission oil flushed and replaced. I was told this is an 45000 miles issue and it's not considered a safety issue. Personally, if i didn't know better i could had gotten rear ended and yes this should be a safety issue. Our family would like this issue addressed and be reimbursed for my expenses. Thank you!
