I have had this car for 4 years and have had to replace 7 door locks. All quit working. The doors will not lock when the buttons are pushed which is a major security issue.
Vehicle frequently shows the error "Shift to Park" when I attempt to turn off the car after it is placed in park - which is confirmable via the instrument panel. The vehicle electronics will not turn off until the error is cleared. At times I cannot clear the error and I've had to set my parking brake and leave the car electronics running while I go into a store, which leaves car unsecured and drains the battery. The car has gone into my local GMC dealer for repairs. The first time I took it in (August 2020), I was 365 miles outside my warranty and GMC refused to pay for the repairs. The dealership felt certain a recall would be issued and suggested I have harness switched which they admitted was a band-aid fix and that it wouldn't fix the issue, but it would allow a period where the error disappears (which it did) - until a recall is issued. The Shift to Park error reappeared about 1.5 years later. I took my Acadia back to the dealership and was told they could not replicate the error and therefore there was nothing they could about it. The error is happening much more often and I've scheduled another repair appointment to address the problem.
Vehicle lifters failed early february 2024 while driving. Lifters were replaced and returned to us. One week later the entire engine seized while at 75 mph freeway. Vehicle currently in for repairs for 30+ days and still not fixed. Have had the yukon in the shop 8 times for electrical, engine, computer failures all previously identified in complaints listed on this website. Family was put at risk on a known chronic engine failure as told by the service department and technician.
We are not able to get a recall completed with a problem known to cause death or injury if left unrepaired - the recall was listed publicly last may 2023 and no remedy is available to dealers to repair yet
Our airbags have been recalled since may 2023. There is no remedy available. I requested gmc to buyback the vehicle, and they denied. They said they have no solution for me.
In march 2024 i received a letter from gm saying "that parts are now available to repair your vehicle" relating to the 2023 airbag recall. However, the local gm dealer advised me that while it placed an order for these parts 11 days ago, it still has not received the parts and told me that gm has provided no "eta" for when these parts would be received. Gm has failed to replace the airbag component(s) within a reasonable period of time and as of this writing i have no idea when the parts will truly be available. As a result, our family continues to be at risk from a potentially exploding airbag.
I was driving on the highway with my kids and my car suddenly shuts off. There was no warning messages or other symptoms of the problem... No signs! This took place on february 25, 2024. It was towed and taken to the gmc dealership (coral springs) for 3 weeks now.
Driving at 50mph on straight road. No traffic in front. Truck brakes activated. Went down to 29mph. Then picked up speed on its own.
