Engine made a clicking sound, i complained about it for nearly 10 months to dealership and other mechanics until i forced a mechanic to drive around with me. They first found metal shavings in my oil pan, found that rod bearings 2/6 are fully scorched and it now needs a new engine. Engine stopped twice on the road similar to eco mode, but wouldn’t turn back on the same way. Nearly causing collisions. No warnings whatsoever, vehicle had regular maintenance per its light warnings. Complete failure on hondas part to correct this.
Vehicle has about 8,120 miles on odometer. When going straight at 45 mph for 1/4 mile, turning either right or left requires greater force to turn the steering wheel - it gets "stuck" in the straight position. This is referred to as the "sticky steering issue". It causes the driver to use more than normal force to free the wheel from stuck, but then when free, wheel turning resistance goes much lower. Sometimes this causes the vehicle to move over in the lane more than the driver intended, when the steering wheel "unsticks". The local honda dealer has confirmed the problem, but, now says replacement steering parts to fix are a 7 month wait... This is quite unreasonable to wait for a warranty repair on a potential safety issue.
The radio intermittently changes volume, brightness level, turns off/on all by itself. This has caused the volume to get so loud i have to take my eyes off the road. There has been several other complaints online about this. It's dangerous to be driving to have the radio all of a sudden startle everyone and the driver tries to fix it while driving
On 4/4/2024 i filed a complaint about my sticky steering. Today 4/15/2024 about 10 minutes into my drive my tpms light came on. 10 seconds later my car wobbled a bit but it kinda felt like my sticky wheel so i thought i was ok. About 10 seconds after the wobble it did it again only harder this time. The steering wheel got locked at the 10 position and made me smash into the concrete highway barrier.
When i'm driving at highway speeds, and have been in a lane for some time, if the lane starts to arc to the right or left, i find that i have to exert some force to get the car to follow the lane. In other words, the steering wheel seems to be stuck to keep the car going in a particular direction, and requires me to "un-stick-it" to stay in my lane. This issue also occurs when i'm managing a highway overpass, wherein, if i have to change the arc of the turn tighter or looser to stay in my lane, i'll have to exert some force to un-stick the steering wheel. I can't remember when i haven't had this problem with the car, since i typically don't drive highways that often - most of my driving is on city streets, however, i believe i started noticing this problem since the fall of 2023. I'll drive to check on a project i have in arlington, tx or to an office building i manage in farmers brach, tx from my home in plano, tx about one or twice a month, and that's when i'll notice it. The most recent time i noticed it was this past sunday april 14th, 2024 as i drove from my home in plano to farmers branch (approx 15 miles one way).
I received a letter from honda indicating a recall for the fuel pump impeller. The only thing honda failed to say was for me to go to a dealership to get this fixed. Instead they sent a letter saying that they know the recall is needed but they didn’t know when they would have the piece available. I believe the letter was received in january 2024. Still to this date i haven’t received a letter from honda indicating to take my vehicle in for repair. I am not sure how honda is not prioritizing this as according to their letter our cars can stall while driving causing an accident. I would like my vehicle fixed as i don’t want to drive everyday and worry that my car will stall and possibly kill me. I have felt my gas pedals to feel weird as there’s times that i push the gas and my car accelerates too fast and there are times when i take my foot off the gas pedal it like shakes a little. My car has been feeling very different with regards to the gas pedal. I am concerned that it has to do with the recall.
No warning messages on dashboard. The drivers side mirror goes off like there's something there but there's nothing. Same with the braking display light comes on when i'm no where near anything, yet i've had cars pull out in front of me thankful no crash has happened because it doesn't go off then. I plan to take it into the dealership soon. I can't give an estimate of how long exactly it's been doing this. Especially side mirror warning. That's been going on. The braking thing has probably been a month now
I was driving my car in the city going 40 mph down a 4-lane road. There was no other traffic on the road at that time ahead of me, and the conditions of the roadway were dry with sunny weather. My vehicle's dashboard flashed and indicated automatic emergency breaking a couple of times, and suddenly slammed on the brakes. If the driver behind me had not been paying attention, then they could have rear-ended me causing injuries to the occupants of both vehicles. I was able to keep the vehicle in my lane, but the seatbelt knocked the air out of me due to the abrupt nature of the stop. I called the dealership, and they were not sure what caused it but informed me that i should wait until it does it again before bringing it in to be recalibrated.
