Honda Complaints

2013 Honda Civic
  • Date of Incident: Sep-14, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-26, 2024
  • Failed components: AIR BAGS

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding a recurring issue with my vehicle's airbag system. Despite no physical damage to the vehicle and no apparent impact on the functionality of the airbag system, i am consistently receiving a "check airbag system" warning code. This message intermittently appears and disappears, causing significant uncertainty and raising serious safety concerns. Given the critical role of airbags in ensuring passenger safety, any inconsistency or potential malfunction in the system poses a significant risk. Even though there have been no visible signs of damage or issues, the persistent appearance of this warning message suggests an underlying problem that demands immediate attention. As a conscientious vehicle owner, i place the highest priority on the safety of myself, passengers, and fellow road users. Consequently, i implore honda, as the manufacturer, to conduct a thorough investigation and promptly address the recurring issue with my vehicle's airbag system. Ensuring that the airbag system operates reliably and consistently is paramount to safeguarding lives in the event of an accident. Regrettably, when i approached the honda dealership for assistance, i was informed that i would be held accountable for the cost of diagnostics and potentially the repairs. This response is unacceptable. Honda should assume responsibility for resolving a safety concern of this magnitude. I urge honda to reconsider their stance and take decisive action to rectify this matter without imposing financial burdens on their customers. By assuming accountability and prioritizing safety above all else, honda can uphold its commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. Thank you for your immediate attention to this pressing issue. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.

2022 Honda Civic
  • Date of Incident: Jan-01, 2024

  • Failed components: STEERING

Steering sticks, especially at highway speeds and driving slower after obtaining highway speeds. Sometimes sticking is worse than others and sometimes it can jerk the car around.

2022 Honda PASSPORT
  • Date of Incident: Mar-26, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-26, 2024
  • Failed components: POWER TRAIN, ENGINE, and UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Was driving at highway speed on the garden state parkway when the vehicle went into limp mode and many errors codes appeared. Was barely able to get on the shoulder then limp to a parking lot at an exit. Car had to be towed to the dealer where it is in the process of having a rocker arm spooler valve replaced that controls the vcm in the bank one cylinders. This created an extremely unsafe condition that nearly caused me to have a high speed accident

2018 Honda Odyssey

  • Date complaint filed: Mar-26, 2024
  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM and UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Right power door will not open or close with buttons or key fob. Must open/close manually. The doors are too hard to open manually for smaller children and even some adults making it a safety concern in case of emergency. This started intermittently a year ago and is now a constant. Tailgate has been opening and closing on its own, even when locked while parked as well as when the idle stop is activated while in drive. This is a concern that someone can get in the vehicle when unattended. It also shuts (and didn't stop) when someone was standing in the opening while removing something when it occurred. This started about a month ago. I was told to take it to a dealer and pay them to diagnose it. The dealers have a wait list and it's also not in my budget. These are real concerns and i feel honda isn't taking ownership of the dangers.

2017 Honda CR-V
  • Date of Incident: Mar-06, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-26, 2024
  • Failed components: SERVICE BRAKES and FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

The automatic emergency braking system activated unnecessarily. While pulling up to a light, i was preparing to apply the brakes when my car suddenly came to an immediate stop. The brake light flashed and the car came to a halt. It stopped so abruptly that i was concerned that i had been rear-ended. My passenger in the back seat got out of the car to check with the car behind me. No contact had been made with the car behind me. This event has not occurred previously or since as i have turned off the emergency braking system.

2016 Honda Pilot
  • Date of Incident: Mar-24, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-26, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE

The honda stop-start system in this vehicle has a flaw. On this day the engine shut down as normal at a light, but failed to start when the foot was removed from the brake. The engine sputtered and shut back off. This should be a problem if a restart could have been attempted but this failure was so severe that the car had to be put in park and shut off completely. Almost like a reboot of the computer. Once the car was shut off and then powered up again the car could be started and move under it's own power. Even thought i was quick to turn on hazard flashers, cars behind me became angry at the inconvenience, honking and swerving to get around me when the light was green. Honda needs to make a way to attempt to restart after an unsuccessful attempt by the auto start system. The engine has run fine since the event so no issues with the engine can be found. It had to be something minor that prevented the successful firing of the engine.
