AIR CONDITIONER ON DRIVER'S SIDE NOT COOLING/BLOWING WARM AIR. HONDA DEALER PERFORMED DIAGNOSIS AND FOUND SYSTEM SLIGHTLY LOW, AND FOUND AC COMPRESSOR IS LEAKING. COST TO REPAIR IS $1900.00. OUR 2016 Honda Civic HAD 33K MILES AND IS GARAGE KEPT AND WELL MAINTAINED. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THE COMPRESSOR LEAKING IS A COMMON PROBLEM! THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A CAR WITH 33K MILES ON IT!!! I HAVE BEEN A HONDA OWNER FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND EXPECT HONDA TO ISSUE A RECALL OR EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THE COMPRESSOR/COOLING SYSTEM FOR THIS KNOWN DEFECT. THIS SYSTEM HAS NOT LIVED UP TO THE REASONABLE EXPECTATION OF RELIABILITY OF HONDA CARS, AND THAT AN AC COMPRESSOR SHOULD LAST MORE THAN JUST A FEW YEARS WITH LOW MILEAGE. THIS IS WELL BEYOND WHAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED AS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR! I AM DISAPPOINTED AND UPSET THAT HONDA SO FAR HAS NOT DONE THE RIGHT THING IN ADDRESSING A KNOWN DEFECT AND DOING RIGHT BY THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR IN THE MIDDLE OF PANDEMIC WHEN MANY HAVE BEEN UNEMPLOYED OR FINANCIALLY IMPACTED. DO THE RIGHT THING HONDA!! COVER THIS REPAIR UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY!!! *TR
Phev burning smell econ (ev) driving. It happened 2 times after the battery drops to two bars, which means mode was changed to hybrid from econ. There were big vroom sounds from engine room when ev mode converted hybrid mode at the speed of 60-70 mph. Even at the speed of 5-10 mph, the engine sound was really big (it sounded like really high rpm at the low speed). Around 2-3 min driving as hybrid mode from econ, i felt very strong burning smell from the engine area. I googled and found i'm not the only person who experienced this problem. There would be problems with ev, ice, hybrid system. Also it could be fire hazard when being charged.
Started smelling an odor of fuel inside the vehicle then noticed the oil level was over the full mark. The dipstick smelled like fuel mixed with the oil. I had taken the same vehicle in for a recall that was supposed to take care of this issue. During the cold months the vehicle never really warmed up the heat guage would hardly warm up with one bar and sometimes the bars would go down as i drove with the heat on full blast. I took it back on april 19. 2019 and found gasoline was in fact mixing in with the oil. The dipstick was a quart over full. According to the dealership there is currently no fix out from honda.
