2024 Hyundai SANTA CRUZ
  • Date of Incident: Apr-17, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-22, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE

Our 2024 hyundai santa cruz se had a loss of engine power while attempting to accelerate into traffic after stopping at an intersection four times since purchase in november 2023. The engine did not go above idle for approximately 15 seconds while the gas pedal was pressed half way down. The vehicle barely moved into the road and then gained power after what seemed to be the same as limp mode. No codes were set, no warning lights, no unusual noises or vibrations. Vehicle runs great at all other times. These vehicles were recalled in 2022 for a faulty transmission pump and software that caused this issue. Why does hyundai still allow it for a 2024 model? Also, the backup camera stays on when driving forward now. We have the vehicle at the dealership awaiting their feedback

1) back end of the vehicle sways, bounces at any speed when going over slightest bump. Driving with failing shocks or struts has a direct impact on your ability to control vehicle. Research indicates known issue with 2020-2021 hyundai palisades - tsb22-ss-001h issued for part of the problem but no recall. Hyundai clearly knows about it but not issuing needed recall because it is a warranty item, hoping customers don't realize it until out of warranty. Mine still in warranty, 48k miles. Rear- self leveling shocks appear to be the issue along with upper insulator piece. See forum: https://www. Palisadeforum. Com/threads/shock-issue. 4349/page-2 2) another known issue with cracking windshields same model. Mine cracked oct 23rd while parked under cover - no apparent cause, hyundai wanted over 1k to replace - had to use insurance to replace it. Https://topclassactions. 2014 Hyundai Sonata
  • Date of Incident: Feb-15, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-22, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE, STEERING, and SERVICE BRAKES

On Feb 15th 2023 my daughter was driving my 2014 Hyundai Sonata at the posted speed limit of 55 MPH on a 2 lane blacktop when the car suddenly and without any warning at all, lost all power and became unresponsive while traveling with other vehicles behind her, in front of her and in the opposing lane of travel. Without enough of an improved shoulder to pull to the right and a steep embankment on that side of the roadway as well, she was forced to veer to the left with other cars approaching. She had minimal braking, steering and no response to depressing the accelerator pedal at all. She was able to direct the car onto a paved portion of a feeder road and finally got the car stopped. The cabin filled with smoke and there was smoke all around the car but no fire was ever found. These vehicles are dangerous to the public and have a known engine defect that because of this the manufacturer has implemented a software patch known as KSDS and with this recall in place should have allowed my daughter to reach a safer place than being stranding on the side of a busy hi-way. My car had this patch installed and I was assured that this recall would allow the car to be driven a safe distance and it would be obvious when this patch was active and the engine would be put in "Limp mode" This did not happen, the engine locked up
