2017 Hyundai Santa Fe
  • Date of Incident: Mar-27, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-27, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE

Engine is overheating causing vehicle to burn through oil. I take the interstate every day, putting myself and others at risk if my vehicle breaks down. My oil sensors do not work, and do not display or illuminate. They flash on for a brief second and then disappear.

  • Date of Incident: Mar-15, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-27, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE

Engine seized up on the interstate with no warnings. Almost got hit by 2 semi's as i tried to get off the next exit. I had 3 small children riding with me and it was terrifying. Got it towed 100 miles to the nearest dealer and they said the engine was consuming oil and the engine seized up. They said they are "well aware" of this problem, but without any recall, the bill is entirely on me. The recall does cover most hyundai models, but for some reason, it missed mine.. But clearly has the same issues.

2019 Hyundai Elantra
  • Date of Incident: Jan-02, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-27, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE

Vehicle stalls when coming to a stop or light. Very reminiscent of recall 21V30100, but when I called local dealership and Natl Hyundai Customer Service, I was told that the recall was not specific to my Vin Nbr. The vehicle stalls in traffic which is extremely dangerous and gives no engine light or OBD code. I have taken it to a few local mechanics and they cannot resolve the issue. They have changed parts that could possibly be the issue, but it solves nothing. The vehicle has 109,471 miles 2019 Elantra which is practically new still. I would like my Vin added to that recall so it can get fully checked out by Hyundai. Ived spent a few hundred dollars already and am tapped out, plus the stress of getting into an accident crosses my mind every day and worries me. Thank you.

2016 Hyundai Elantra
  • Date of Incident: Mar-23, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-27, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, and POWER TRAIN

Initial report on march 7, 2022 (approx. 94k miles), second report on dec. 12, 2023 (approx. 111,700 miles). Third report march 27, 2024: recent event occurred on march 23, 2024 (approx. 112k miles) when my vehicle suddenly stopped moving while driving 55mph on a freeway with child passenger in the vehicle, putting both of us at risk for collision. Vehicle did not have any warning lights turn on prior to or during event. The vehicle did not move again after multiple attempts to accelerate to exit freeway safely. After shifting to neutral and back to drive, the vehicle suddenly jolted and accelerated randomly while holding foot on the gas pedal (no control over timing of acceleration). We were able to exit the freeway safely. This same issue repeated multiple times while driving us to a safe area to call for a tow truck. The vehicle was towed to dealership location it was originally purchased at on march 26, 2024. Diagnostics appointment scheduled for march 28, 2024. I have completed oil change services on this car about every 1,200 miles to keep the engine running since there was no solution for any of my previous reports to dealership (even when opening a case with hyundai), their previous determination was to close case since the diagnostics report did not show error codes in report. Previous dealership advisor made a verbal comment that the real problem is something their computers do not scan codes for, and his recommendation was to "drive it til the wheels fall off" after paying thousands in services that did not solve the root problem. Hoping this appointment will lead to a safer outcome.

2023 Hyundai Tucson
  • Date of Incident: Mar-25, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-27, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, and POWER TRAIN

When pulling out of my driveway onto street, i lost acceleration. My vehicle would not go oer 35 mph and the rpms were revving up too 5000 without speed moving. I tried changing the drive mode to fix it, that did not help. I pulled over,s topped the car and restarted and all seemed normal. This has happened 2 other times since i bought the car. The other 2 times was while i was on the interstate the engine stopped engaging and i could not accelerate. Both times the issue corrected itself by the time i could get safely out of traffic. This is a major accident concern as there is no warning before this happens.
