  • Failed components: SERVICE BRAKES and ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

While driving in a straight line my brakes and brake pedal were activated without any pressure being applied and maintaining about 45 mph. I pulled over to check the car and see if there was anything stuck in the wheel well and saw nothing. I got back in my car and proceeded to drive 2 blocks where i then went to park and upon turning left to pull into a parking spot my car immediately stopped and indicated that the emergency brake had been activated. I had not touched the brakes or the hand brake whatsoever and using the handbrake to turn on and off the emergency brake did not fix this i had to just wait until it was released. Upon researching this other drivers of the same model and year have experienced this problem in more dangerous situations on the freeways and at high speeds. I believe the problem has to do with the emergency brake being activated due to an electrical problem.

2020 Hyundai Elantra
  • Date of Incident: Oct-11, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-21, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE

The vehicles engine has gone through a gradual decrease of power and then the car went into "limp mode" and began burning oil. I have taken it to dealer multiple times and they would run diagnostic and never find anything significant. When it went into limp mode i took it back to dealer and they ran diagnostic and said the engine was bad. They said that the car is out of warranty and they would not cover the repairs. When i look into the problems that the vehicle was exhibiting there was a recall 203 that describes my problem exactly. When i look it shows this was completed at around 6000 miles. I believe this was done to early in the vehicles life and it didn't exhibit any of these issues. Now at 80,000 miles the engine now has all the issues described in the recall and the manufacturer will not replace or repair the engine

2021 Hyundai NEXO
  • Date of Incident: Mar-02, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-20, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, and POWER TRAIN

It has become more frequent for there to be a delay in acceleration of about 3 to 4 seconds when traveling uphill. My car lost acceleration while going uphill. As i was gradually accelerating from a red traffic light to climb a hill, my car became stuck at a certain speed, around 50 mph on april 3rd. Even when pressing the acceleration pedal to the maximum, it wouldn't accelerate. On march 2nd, while entering the freeway on an uphill section, my car suddently lost acceleration and slowed down for about 4 seconds before finally accelerating again. At the moment, a car was traveling fast in the right lane, and i narrowly avoided being hit by it. I quickly moved onto the shoulder and then returned to the right lane when it was safe. Posing serious safety concerns for both myself as the driver and any passengers in the car. My car has been towed in and is currently being investigated by technicians at the hyundai dealer (tustin) since 4/05/2024.

2023 Hyundai Tucson
  • Date of Incident: Apr-16, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-20, 2024
  • Failed components: SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, and LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST

While driving 35mph on a 3-lane street in the far left lane, a driver of a Ford F-150 was in the center lane about two car lengths ahead, decided to make a right turn onto a residential street (as if he were driving a semi). As I got closer, the forward collision warning suddenly alerted and immediately initiated emergency braking system causing all 3 passengers to be thrown forward. I hit the steering wheel before seat belt caught me. I was not even within distance and he was turning in opposite direction of my lane. There also seems to be sensitivity issues with lane keeping feature as in Phoenix, there are never ending freeway construction with make-shift lanes not always marked well. On several occasions the steering wheel was jerked out of my hands because it couldn’t detect the lanes any longer. It has caused me to avoid freeways all together and has made me miss the exit off the freeway twice now. I thought this feature only activated during active cruise control, but apparently it does it regardless. Now I’m beginning to have problems with display going out at the worst times. I will be taking my Tucson to a dealer to have them deactivate both systems & advise of display. I shouldn’t have to pay for this. I’ll take over the driving, thank you very much!
