Timing chain stretched which caused engine to seize and fail at 80,000 miles. Engines replaced along with new timing, chains and belts. Two months later, the turbo seized and failed. Turbo had to be replaced. This is a known problem with jaguar for this year and model car. There are two more with the exact same problem at my mechanics right now.

Since purchasing our vehicle, we have been beset with several problems. The battery system to the vehicle has been malfunctioning consistently since at least june of 2022. The entire electrical system in the vehicle did not respond. We had to have the vehicle towed to the local jaguar dealer. In june of 2023, we had another instance where the car was not coming on and we had been receiving notification about a “traction battery fault. ” we again had to get the car towed to the local jaguar dealer because the vehicle was inoperable. We were told that the electrical battery and the auxiliary battery needed to be replaced after a service inspection on june 30, 2023 and “that is why the vehicle would not start up for us. ” we received notice on june 28, 2023 along with other jaguar i-pace owners about an open recall of the electric suvs made from 2019 to 2024 in the united states. The recall notice number [xxx] was issued after the national highway traffic and safety administration (nhtsa) found that “the high-voltage battery overheating increases the risk of a fire. ” the nhtsa required the following remedy that “the battery energy control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (ota) update. In addition, battery modules will be replaced as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. ” our car received an ota update to the software of the vehicle following the nhtsa recall and was cleared for pick-up on [xxx]. Yet, this did not solve the problems with the car. The battery problems have only become more severe with the vehicle. In december of 2023, we again experienced an issue where we got a “traction battery default” message. We took the car into the local jaguar dealer out of fear of an electrical failure and the car becoming inoperable once again. The car stayed at the local dealer for over a month. The local jaguar dealer informed us that the parts to replace the battery were on back order. Please see attached letter. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of informati

I turned my vehicle on and it showed a gearbox fault detected message. I was able to put the car in reverse and accelerate to 2 mph while reversing. The car began to slow down even with my foot on the accelerator as if there was no power. I was fully reversed out of my parking spot and went to put the car in drive as i was in the middle of the very busy parking lot with cars waiting on either side to continue driving. The car would then turn on the parking break as i pressed the accelerator, no matter which gear i was in. I was stranded at an angle, causing traffic to be delayed with cars backed up all the way to both entrances of the parking lot and vehicles in the street at a complete stop to enter with a 40mph speed limit. I had to get my vehicle towed to jaguar dealer service and after diagnostic the harness for the parking pawl has failed and needs to be replaced. If i had been reversing out of my home into the street, or really anywhere else than the parking lot i was in, i would have caused an accident. We’re lucky an accident wasn’t caused from people being stopped in the street.

The check engine light hasn't worked on our jaguar f pace since we bought it despite taking it multiple times to multiple dealerships (due to moving to three different cities). We were told by each dealership that it wasn't a issue unless it was flashing. The final straw was in feb 2024 we were driving on a busy road (a1a) at 55 miles per hour and the car started jerking, making loud noises and then stopped. We had to have it towed and find transportation home. Thank goodness my husband was driving because i'm not sure how i would have handled it. The fields jaguar land rover of jacksonville says that we must pay $20,000 to repair the entire engine and jaguar north america won't do anything to help. Please help us and make sure this issue doesn't happen to anyone else. Defective indicator light like this is a major safety issue.

Windshield. The jaguar 2017 f pace windshield is very fragile. While driving down [xxx] on multiple occasions, a pebble has hit my window and caused a huge crack. On the most recent occurrence the pebble was still in my window shield after returning home. I was traveling around 70 to 75 mph when the pebble hit my windshield. I am now on my 5th window shield since purchasing the vehicle in dec 2019. When purchased, the vehicle had 31k miles and due to the shut down (2020)and work from home, the vehicles was barely driven. L-front tire showed a sidewall bubble. The tire could have blown out while running at a hish rate of speed, and caused loss of control the dealer (checkered flag, virginia beach, va). , has the tire. They think it was a curb hit. I have a photo of the tire issue. I was told, by the dealer service writer, this was not the first tire seen at this selling dealership with this issue. I inspected the tire and there is no way this could have happened by hitting a pothole or curb and not have any scratch or dent in the rim had i hit hard enough to cause this issue. Repair was to purchase a new tire at a cost of $346. 42

The center console gear shift has a lever to disengage the current gear to shift into another gear. However, if the lever isn’t fully pressed, the gear shift will still move, but the car remains in the original gear. So a driver may believe the shifted from reverse to drive (or vice versa) when it hasn’t. In theory, this lever should work like a manual transmission. One cannot shift gears in a manual without engaging the clutch fully. The automatic transmission/gear shift lever should work the same. In other words, the gear shift should not move/disengage unless the lever is fully pressed. Note: the vehicle (a former loaner vehicle) was recently purchased.

This car had about 27, 950 miles on it! While driving the low coolant light came on. Stopped at once and checked the coolant level. I was only slightly low. Added more coolant and light went out, this was about one week ago, 3/3/2024. The next day after two miles, low coolant light. Again added more coolant. The next day after a few miles, the car smelled of oil or something unusual, a burning smell, as my wife was driving it, no warning lights this time, this happened while stopped at a stop light. Suddenly the entire front of the car was covered with smoke! My wife said she thought the car was on fire. She pulled into a parking lot and stopped the car. The smoke subsided and she called me. The car did not appear to be overheated and the temperature gauge was normal. Adding more coolant temporally solved the issue. I have taken the car into the jaguar dealer and they immediately knew what the problem was, seems that all 2017 jaguars have this problem. An internet search verified the problem is so well know that jaguar changed the defective parts and issued a service bulletin addressing this problem, but even though our car is well within the warranty mileage, the jaguar dealers said that i would have to pay in excess of $3600 to get our car repaired! This is outrages! The car is not safe to drive and jaguar is well aware of the problem, yet they refuse to correct it unless the customer pays for jaguar's faulty design!!
