I was driving my usual route home from work during rush hour on southbound interstate 5 in seattle, wa when my sunroof glass exploded on my 2021 grand jeep cherokee. My first thought was that a tire had blown, it was so loud! Experiencing no loss of control, i quickly realized that the sound was my sunroof glass disintegrating when i heard glass shards rattling overhead. Thankfully my sliding visor was closed as i usually have this open. Of course had it been open i would have had glass shower down on me causing an accident and possibly seriously damaging my vision! I got home safely where i called my car insurance to report what happened. I asked if they wanted me to send photos of the exploded sunroof glass they told me there was no need since it should be a simple fix. Well it has not been so. Insurance sent me to a local collision shop a few days later which turned me away since there was no collision. I called several glass places after this myself and was told by each one they don't deal with replacing sunroof glass. I contacted a jeep dealership told them my situation, what had happened. The dealership scheduled for me to come in 30 plus days for an inspection since that was first availability. I called several dealerships to try to get seen earlier they were all a month out give or take for appointments. Given the suddenness of the explosion and the apparent absence of any external cause, it seems to me that it was caused by a manufacturing flaw, or design defect, in the glass or its frame. Although i am a longtime owner and fan of jeep vehicles i find that this was unacceptable since this is obviously a potential safety issue, as well as a major inconvenience. I also feel jeep should cover the expense on this! I owned a jeep compass prior to my grand cherokee that had a sunroof and never had an issue. I don't want this to happen to others and this goes for anyone who has a sunroof that this could happen without any warning.

Bought my jeep used in sept 2023. For the first time hooked it up to my small trailer to pick something up. Pulled around and went to reverse and the rear park assist braking jammed on. At first i wasn't concerned. I knew there was a way to turn them off based on my jeep manual. Unfortunately, the park assist would not turn off. Neither the park assist button on dash nor the settings in the computer screen would turn them off. The light on the dash button would turn on for 2 seconds but then turn right back off. In the computer settings , i would click the rear park assist to uncheck it. It would uncheck for a few seconds then check mark would come right back again. I tried to turn off the front park assist in the computer just to see what would happen. I can't turn those off either. This is extremely dangerous. I was very lucky i discovered this before i left my property. What if i was in a busy place, road, parking lot, etc. So i do have an appt with my dealer tomorrow, who claims to have never heard of this issue before. . But after doing simple google searches on the internet, i found numerous instances of many mopar vehicles, like my jeep gc, dodge durango, chrysler pacifica, etc. Who have had the same exact issue when they try to tow something and cannot turn off the park assist feature to back up with a trailer attached. I also called the fca us customer service line to tell them about this and they said they had never heard of this problem. Yet in the many forums i found where people have posted about this issue, they have had to get software update done on the park assist module to fix this issue. So it is known, but fca is not admitting to it being an issue. This should be a recall, or if nothing else, considered a necessary upgrade. Also found you have a report in your system already on this issue and i found a jeep service bulletin related to this issue as well. I will see what the dealer says tomorrow.

The vehicle was leased in december 2023. At time of delivery the vehicle was making a clicking and clunking sound when turning. It took over a month to get an appointment to get the vehicle looked at. With 2,800 miles the vehicle was diagnosed with a right axle shaft. It took over two weeks for the parts to be delivered and replaced. The vehicle was picked up after 16 days and the issue persisted. Again, it took nearly a month for an appointment. The vehicle was with the dealer for 6 days and was not able to find diagnose an issue. The vehicle was picked up and the next day was returned to the dealer for the same issue. This time it was confirmed there is an undiagnosed steering/suspension problem. Also during this visit the check engine light illuminated. The fault was a hybrid battery cooling system failure. The dealer is unable to complete any work on the vehicle and a new service appointment was scheduled in 4 days. This will be the third attempt to fix this steering/suspension issue. Jeep corporate was notified with the first service visit and again with the second visit. They have since stopped communicating with me to come to a resolution for these safety issues. There is an open recall for steering bolts, i was notified that jeep is rationing these parts and only allowing 1 vehicle per week per dealer to be repaired. I was told it could be months before this recall is able to be completed.

  • Failed components: ENGINE

One day i smelled something burning after driving. I didn't see anything the first time but i kept smelling the burning smell and noticed a few days later oil dripping from underneath the car. Oil made its way all under the car, it traveled on various parts and created an oil coating. I made an appt to the jeep dealership (keffer jeep in charlotte, nc) and they said the oil cooler failed. There were no obvious signs other than a slow leak from under the car, no warning lights, no change in performance. However had i not noticed coolant could have mixe in with oil and ruined the engine. Less than 32,000 miles on the car when it occured.
