Hi my name is joel lopez owner of the vehicle i have a problem with wondering steering wheel when i am at the highway it plays to much can you guys please help
WHEN I AM TURNING LEFT THE ABS LIGHTS AND STABILITY LIGHTS TURN ON. THERE IS ALSO A WEIRD NOISE. I WENT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID IT IS A CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY. THEY ALSO SAID IT IS COMMON FOR THE Jeep WranglerS TO HAVE THEM REPLACED.
Excessive play in steering wheel. There is a dead zone from 1-2" left and right. Very hard to steer on highways and the jeep wanders from left to right. Did not drive like this before and i've had it for two years. Affects it at all speeds but is especially dangerous on the highway.
Loose and wandering steering. I purchased this vehicle new in january 2019, it currently has 5,039 miles. Since new, the steering has been loose and wanders around the lane of travel at speeds over about 30 mph on paved, well maintained highways. If you take your eyes off the road to check gauges or controls, you have to quickly make an adjustment to keep it centered in the lane. It has low mileage in the 18 months of our ownership because we are afraid to drive it. We want to avoid a crash and injuries at all cost. The steering wheel can be turned either direction for several degrees without response at highway speeds. I reported this issue to my dealers and they have made three different attempts to correct the issue, but they are unable to based on the design. The last attempt, they advised they had spoken to their area jeep/fca representative and were advised that jeep is aware of the issue and a correction will be coming in the near future. The asked me to be patient. That was over one year ago and still no correction. I'm sure this issue has likely caused many preventable crashes and injuries and will continue to do so until it is resolved by the manufacturer. It's time for nhtsa influence.
I was driving the service drive of a major freeway in detroit going about 30 mph. I was driving straight.. No turns. All of a sudden the steering wheel began to shake violently. I thought the front drivers side tire was falling off. I pulled to the side of the road and stopped the car. I drove home with no further issues.
FRONT RIGHT BRAKE ON '17 Wrangler (CALIPER) FROZE SHUT WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY MOVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. SMOKE WAS VISIBLE ABOVE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL, VEHICLE SHOOK WHILE IN MOTION. VEHICLE HAS 19,000 MILES, ZERO INDICATION OF LOW BRAKE PADS WHICH SHOULD LAST WELL OVER 45,000 MILES, AND ONLY THE RIGHT BRAKE PAD WORE DOWN. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS LOW BRAKE PAD CAUSED ISSUE, THEREFORE WEAR & TEAR. DUE TO NO PRIOR BRAKE ISSUES/SLOW BRAKING/ SQUEAKING, AND CURRENT MILEAGE, I'M OF THE OPINION THAT BRAKES LOCKED DUE TO DESIGN OR MECHANICAL ISSUES RATHER THAN LACK OF MAINTENANCE.
THIS JEEP HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES PREVIOUSLY FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE. THIS INCIDENT, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ALL THE INSTRUMENTS STARTED GOING CRAZY (PREVIOUSLY HAPPENED MANY TIMES). SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. THE POWER STEERING WAS STILL WORKING, BUT THE WHEEL WOULD ONLY TURN AROUND 1 INCH IN EITHER DIRECTION. BRAKING WAS NORMAL. MANEUVERED THE JEEP OFF THE ROAD AND HAD TOWED TO RON CARTER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE DEALERSHIP IN LEAGUE CITY, TX. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THIS VEHICLE 4 TIMES IN THE PAST FOR THIS ISSUE. IN THE PAST THE STEERING HAS NOT BEEN AFFECTED, BUT THE VEHICLE WON'T START OR THE PARKING BRAKE WILL BE SET AND YOU CAN'T MOVE OR OTHER WEIRD DIFFERENT STUFF HAPPENS. THE STEERING ISSUE IN THIS PAST INCIDENT IS SERIOUS. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER INQUIRED WHAT HAPPENED HE TOLD ME HE HAS TOWED PROBABLY 20 OTHER NEWER Jeep WranglerS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME LAST TIME WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN AND IT WAS STILL ACTING UP THAT THERE WERE 15 FAULTS STORED. THE ISSUE USUALLY CLEARS ITSELF UP BY THE TIME WE GET IT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY HAVE TALKED WITH CHRYSLER AND CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG AND HAVE JUST BEEN THROWING DARTS REPLACING VARIOUS THINGS. IF THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER IS RIGHT ON HOW MANY VEHICLES HES TOWED WITH THIS PROBLEM THERE IS A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL / COMPUTER ISSUE GOING ON WITH THESE VEHICLES THAT IS GOING TO CAUSE ACCIDENTS.
THERE IS SOME TYPE OF ISSUE WITH THE STEERING WHICH CAUSES THE DRIVER TO KEEP ADJUSTING THE STEERING WHEEL CONSTANTLY. THIS ISSUE OCCURS AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS BOTH ON HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS. IT CAN FEEL LIKE THE Jeep Wrangler IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND REQUIRES A VERY ATTENTIVE DRIVER.
I swerved to miss a deer. I ran off a big drop off&hit on mainly the driver's side. There was over $26k damage repairs done. They have decided to total my jeep with a little over 36k miles. I ran off the raid&hit on mainly the driver's side. My air bags never deployed but most importantly my seat belt did not prevent me from hitting my face on the steering wheel. I have a gash above my right eye that the emts advised me to go to a hospital to have stitches. Butbwith the covid-19 epidemic fully in force i decided not to go to the next county for medical. Assitance since my local hospital is not equipped to preform the medical assistance that was needed. I missed several. Days of work for this incident. I'm asking for answers to why my air bags did not deploy but most importantly i'm wanting & needing to know why my seat belt did not prevent my face from hitting the steering wheel & also warping my steering wheel in the process. Please i need answers for i've always wanted & dreamed of owning a jeep. Then i finally was able to purchase one but i need to know that it is also safe for me & my family.

Loose steering has caused several? Near misses? When taking curves, especially at speeds above 40mph. The steering wheel is very loose overall, but it is very dangerous at highway speeds.
Driving on highway at about 75 mph the vehicle started to shake uncontrollably. Had to slow down to about 30 mph to get vehicle under control. Vehicle has been driven less than 4,000 miles.
The jeep caught fire while driving normally yesterday on the i95 highway at normal speed.
My jeep has a serious safety issue. The vehicle has to much play in the steering wheel. Because of this, the vehicle wanders back and forth in the road. To correct this problem you have to constantly turn the wheel back and forth. The problem is exacerbated with speed, so at highway it is so unsafe, you fell like you are going to die. The vehicle has serious steering box issue. The vehicle is so unsafe i will not let anyone drive this vehicle.
2016 Jeep Wrangler 4X4 EXPERIENCING ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE WIPERS STAY ON AT ALL TIMES, WIPER SWITCH DOES NOT WORK. LIGHTS STAY ON AT ALL TIMES, SWITCH DOES NOT WORK. HORN DOES NOT WORK. BLINKERS DO NO WORK. HIGH/LOW BEAM ALSO INOPERABLE. DASH LIGHTS EXTREMELY LOW, CAN BARELY SEE THEM AND WE ARE 35 YR OLD OWNERS WITH GOOD 20/25 VISION. FOR LACK OF BETTER WORDS OR MECHANICAL TERMS, HAVING A VEHICLE WITH THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE IS LIKE DRIVING SOMETHING POSSESSED. TIPM ON THIS VEHICLES ARE KNOWN TO BE FAULTY AND FCA HAS AGREED TO RECALL CERTAIN VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN ISSUED CAME TO LIGHT.
2019 Jeep Wrangler JL SPORT-STEERING ISSUES I HAVE HAD MY 2019 JL A LITTLE OVER A YEAR NOW AND HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING CONCERNS WITH THE STEERING SINCE I DROVE IT HOME. BEING A FIRST TIME JEEP OWNER, INITIALLY I THOUGHT MAYBE THAT WAS JUST THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DRIVE. AFTER A FEW MONTHS, IT JUST DIDN'T SEEM RIGHT TO ME THAT A BRAND NEW JEEP COULD BE THIS SLOPPY IN THE STEERING. THERE IS A TON OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH MEANS CONSTANTLY OVER-CORRECTING TO STAY IN A LANE. IT IS NOTICEABLE AT ALL SPEEDS BUT EVEN MORE SO AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I FIND THAT I CANNOT TAKE ONE HAND OFF THE WHEEL AT ANYTIME WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE IT CAN WANDER. THIS IS AN EXHAUSTING WAY TO DRIVE NOT TO MENTION THE CONSTANT BUMP STEER THAT HAPPENS WHEN GOING OVER ANY MINOR BUMP OR HIGHWAY OVERPASS. IT'S NERVE WRACKING DRIVING IN TIGHT LANES ON THE HIGHWAY AND ESPECIALLY IN CONSTRUCTION ZONES. IT'S TO THE POINT THAT I HONESTLY DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT AND NEITHER DOES MY BOYFRIEND. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS UP NOW AT TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS FOR A TOTAL OF 5-6 TIMES. THE MOST RECENT RESPONSE WAS, "THAT'S JUST THE NATURE OF THE BEAST". I'M SORRY BUT THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THE FIRST DEALERSHIP PUT MY DAMPER RECALL PART IN UPSIDE DOWN AND SO I DROVE ON AN UPSIDE DOWN PART FOR 5 MONTHS BEFORE I EXPERIENCED THE DEATH WOBBLE ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER THAT INCIDENT I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP WHO PUT IN A NEW DAMPER THE CORRECT WAY BUT STILL EXTREME LOOSENESS IN THE WHEEL AND WANDERING ALL OVER THE ROAD. THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING IS THAT THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE JEEP AND IT'S SAFE TO DRIVE YET THERE ARE 1,000'S OF REPORTS HAVING THE SAME STEERING ISSUES AS ME. THIS IS MY SECOND TIME OPENING A CASE WITH JEEP CARE HOWEVER I'M NOT HOPEFUL THAT THEY WILL HELP AT ALL.
PURCHASED A NEW Jeep Wrangler SAHARA UNLIMITED 6/22/2020 WITH 340 MILES. THE STEERING IS VERY LOOSE, 1 1/2-2" OF FREE PLAY IN STEERING WHEEL, NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN THE LANE, THE LOOSENESS IS NOTICEABLE AT ALL SPEEDS, BUT BECOMES HARDER TO CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE BEEN IN THE NEW CAR BUSINESS FOR 34 YEARS AS A SERVICE MANAGER, 6 YEARS WITH JEEP, AND THE STEERING GEAR HAS SLACK IN IT. THE JEEP WAS SCHEDULED TO BE REPAIRED 6/7/20, AFTER BEING AT THE DEALERSHIP ALL DAY, IT WAS DELIVERED BACK TO ME, AND TOLD IT WAS NORMAL AND "JEEP LIKE". I SHOWED THEM A VIDEO OF ME DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL SIDE TO SIDE 2" WITH THE JEEP STAYING IN A STRAIGHT LINE, UNSAFE AND UNACCEPTABLE, I COMMUTE 110 MILES A DAY IN THIS VEHICLE.
Anti lock braking system and traction control activate at low speeds - at 5-10 mph. It applies the brakes without warning.
In last 4 years or so of ownership the rear brakes have gone bad twice. Service was performed at fair oaks jeep dodge ram in chantilly, va. This seems excessive. Reporting in case others are experiencing same issues.
