Kia Complaints

2015 Kia CADENZA
  • Date of Incident: Nov-14, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-26, 2024
  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, and UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I received a recall letter dated november 14, 2023 with nhtsa recall #: 23v652 for 2015 kia cadenza vin# knaln4d72f5182127. I contacted kia's customer care number on or around january 17, 2024 as i had started having more and more electrical problems associated with this recall. My compass direction on my rear view mirror has not worked for well over a year and a half. I cannot lock my car with my key fob going on a year now. If i do lock it with the key fob, my car alarm randomly goes off multiple multiple times. Now my interior lights are not properly going off when you shut the door, and flicker when manually turning them on. The letter clearly states that a fire could happen either while parked or driving. This is my primary means of transportation, but at this point it is going on 5 months since the recall was issued. I definitely have safety concerns at this point, and feel that this has taken far longer than should have. What are the next steps to actively get the ball rolling to get this taken care of so that we don't have to move forward in far more complicated ways? Thank you for your time, and i look forward to hearing from you with an active solution. : )

The oil pressure switch fails, dumping large amounts of oil out while driving and after parked which could cause engine failure. The 2014 models are covered under a recall for this exact problem but there are 2013s with same issue. I contacted kia customer service and they will not help. My oil pressure switch failed on 2/19/2019 at 69,000 miles, on 6/21/2023 with 99,000 miles and again on 3/25/2024 with 110,000 miles. I included repair statements of the first 2 incidents.

2017 Kia Soul
  • Date of Incident: Mar-22, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-26, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE

Engine failed - active codes P0300 and P0303 Cylinder 3 spark plug coated in oil. Only had 10PSI of cylinder PSI. Russ Darrow Waukesha Kia - Wisconsin concluded that a new engine is needed, quoted $9,000. Kia declined to cover the cost, the codes above aren't covered by engine warranty. Before the engine failure, I reported an unusual oil consumption for the vehicle. I researched and found many other 2017 Kia Soul owners who experienced the same incident (engine failure). I believe Kia needs to be held accountable for this engine scam. It's not isolated incidents.
