2 door handle cover broke under normal use.
The reverse lighting is inadequate for reverse camera in dark, which produces grainy backup camera image. The camera works fine in daylight. This may require proper lighting or camera that works well in dim light condition. Also, the camera is exposed to weather conditions, such as rain and snow.
The vehicle accelerated as if i had pressed on gas pedal when it came to a stop just before putting it in park gear. This is a safety issue, as it can hit someone or something. This happened at about 6400 miles and again at about 6600 miles. Both times it happened in my driveway, which is flat.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 Kia Niro. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. IN ADDITION WHILE TAKING THE EXIT AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY STEERING THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE AND INTO A PARKING LOT. THE CONTACT STATED ALL WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED WHEN THE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER (POMONA KIA SUPERSTORE LOCATED AT 8 RIO RANCHO RD, POMONA, CA 91766) WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. While parked and engine off, the transmission slipped out of park and rolled back into another vehicle. No one was in the vehicle at the time. When i returned to the vehicle, it was still showing it in park and off.

Pulling into my parking space, barely moving, car suddenly lunged forward and to the right over a concrete barrier and uphill. This happened with another kia - forte- a few years ago. Same trajectory. Low speed turn, i did not accelerate.
When i was going to la using 110 express lane. Car stop unpredictably totally and i parked the car left side 110 express lane. I was stayed 3 hours until tow coming.
The vehicle will sometimes go forward eventhough the gear shift is in the r position for reverse. And the opposite happens. I may go in reverse eventhough the gear is in the d position for drive. -- i believe the above happens if i shift gears too quickly before the car finishes its system check. -- that is my own troubleshooting effort/opinion. The wrong motion happens when starting from a stationary position. For example starting the car and wanting to drive forward out of a parking spot or wanting to go reverse to back out of a garage. ---- it's happened several times. I notified the deal sales rep back in oct. When it first happened. It's happend a couple other times and finally i found this website after it happened again this week.
MY BRAKES FAILED AS I TRIED TO STOP FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON A CITY STREET. THERE WAS A CAR ALREADY STOPPED AT THE LIGHT, WHICH I BUMPED INTO. AS I WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT ?GAVE?, AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD; I WAS UNABLE TO STOP. LUCKILY, I HAD ALREADY SLOWED CONSIDERABLY PRIOR TO THE BRAKES FAILING, SO NO ONE WAS HURT AND THERE WAS MINIMAL DAMAGE. THE OTHER DRIVER LEFT THE SCENE WITHOUT EXCHANGING INFORMATION, AND NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE KIA SERVICE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE: NO CODES SHOWED UP REGARDING ANY PROBLEMS; NOTHING WAS IN THE ONLINE HISTORY REPORT; NO LEAKS OR DAMAGED BRAKE COMPONENTS WERE OBSERVED; TEST DRIVING FAILED TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH HE SAID I COULD PICK IT UP, SO FAR I HAVEN?T ? I WON?T DRIVE IT IF THE BRAKES ARE NOT RELIABLE! THE ACCIDENT COULD'VE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS; SOMEONE COULD'VE BEEN GRAVELY HURT OR KILLED... I FOUND AN ARTICLE ONLINE THAT DESCRIBED A RECALL OF KIA OPTIMAS FOR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE THE PRECISE PROBLEM: THE ?SOFTWARE FOR FORWARD COLLISION WARNING (FCW) MAY PREVENT THE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING (AEB) SYSTEM FROM ENGAGING AS EXPECTED WHEN FCW SENSES A POTENTIAL COLLISION WITH A STATIONARY VEHICLE.? NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V539. ARTICLE AT WWW.CONSUMERREPORTS.ORG/CAR-RECALLS-DEFECTS/KIA-OPTIMA-RECALLED-BECAUSE-AUTOMATIC-BRAKING-COULD-FAIL/ WHEN I BROUGHT THIS ARTICLE TO THE TECHNICIAN?S ATTENTION, I WAS TOLD THEY COULDN?T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNLESS A RECALL SPECIFIC TO THE Niro WAS ISSUED. I THEN CALLED THE KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER IN THE ARTICLE I FOUND, AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD INITIATE AN INVESTIGATION; SO FAR I HAVEN?T HEARD BACK FROM THEM.
2018 Kia Niro PLUG-IN HYBRID, 16,235MI. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN 5 TIMES IN LAST SEVERAL MONTHS FOR A TOTAL OF OVER 30 DAYS IN SHOP. TRANSMISSION WILL DO A VERY HARD DOWNSHIFT INTERMITTENTLY WHEN STOPPING. MAKES VEHICLE DIP HARD..NOTICEABLE ON DASH CAM VIDEO. ON HARDER ACCELERATION, POWER TRAIN HAS TROUBLE DECIDING WHAT TO DO AND OFTEN THERE IS A NOTICEABLE DELAY IN ACCELERATION. FEELS SORT OF LIKE IT IS SLIPPING, BUT IS A DELAY IN POWERING THE ELECTRIC MOTOR FULLY AND STARTING THE GAS MOTOR.THIS HAS CAUSED A COUPLE CLOSE CALLS WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC EXPECTING THE CAR TO REACT APPROPRIATELY. SOME ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON OCCURRENCE. DEALER HAS REPLACED A HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR, BLED SYSTEM AND REPROGRAMMED PCM. THIS FIXED A SQUEAK NOISE IN POWER TRAIN BUT NOT THE HARSH/ERRATIC OPERATIONS. AS FOR THE BRAKES, RECENTLY, DEPRESSING THE BRAKE WITH MORE THAN LIGHT PRESSURE CAUSES A RUBBERY GROAN SOUND FROM UNDER DRIVER'S DASH. THIS HAPPENS MORE WHEN THE CAR IS COLD OR SITTING FOR SOME TIME, LESS AFTER IT HAS WARMED UP. DURING THESE EPISODES, THE BRAKE PEDAL TAKE MORE EFFORT TO PUSH AND BRAKE ENGAGEMENT IS DELAYED. THE NOISE WILL HAPPEN WHEN YOU STEP ON THE BRAKE TO START CAR OR WHEN DRIVING. DEALER HAS BEEN DISMISSIVE ABOUT THE ISSUES. WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD GET A 'FLIGHT RECORDER' TO HELP THEM DOCUMENT THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND RECORD VEHICLE DATA FROM THE COMPUTERS. TODAY WE WERE TOLD WE WILL NOT BE GETTING IT AND TO COME PICK UP THE CAR. KIA CORPORATE IN IRVINE, CA HAS BEEN NOTIFIED AND A CASE HAS BEEN OPENED. WE ARE WAITING ON A RESPONSE NOW.

Door handle cane off and vehicle sometimes can not be licked
Car failed to stop twice - almost ran a red light. Brakes depressed and felt no pressure in brake line. Dealership has fixed brake issues with car only being 6 months old in 2018 - same brake issues but now the car is not stopping sometimes.
2017 Kia Niro. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SEVEN SAFETY RECALLS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED A RECALL WAS NOT COMPLETED DUE TO NOT HAVING THE PARTS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS BECOME SLUGGISH. THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED EVEN WHEN THE TIRE WAS FILLED.*JS
A FEW MONTH AGO, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE FELL OFF WHEN TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED/STATIONARY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THE HANDLE AND COVER WERE REPLACED. TODAY, 10/22/2018, THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE POPPED OFF WHEN TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. BOTH TIMES THE DOORS WERE UNLOCKED, AND THE PRESSURE APPLIED TO DOOR HANDLE WAS MINIMAL (NORMAL). THE HANDLE BROKE IN THE SAME PLACE AS THE FIRST. WHEN CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP, WE ASKED IF THE OTHER HANDLE (RIGHT REAR PASSENGER) COULD ALSO BE REPLACED, AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT THEY COULD INSPECT IT WHEN REPLACING THE OTHER HANDLE, BUT COULD NOT ORDER PARTS UNTIL IT IS DETERMINED THAT IT IS BROKEN. UPON RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, WE FOUND THAT KIA HAD ISSUED TSB #TSBBOD180_R1 NHTSA ID #10151899, AND TSB #TSBBOD186 NHTSA ID #10151901 IN REGARDS TO THE DOOR HANDLES ON 2017/18 NiroS, AND SAID THAT ALL THREE PASSENGER HANDLES WERE TO BE REPLACED (NOT THE DRIVER). WE THEN CALLED BACK THE SERVICE DEPT AND INQUIRED ABOUT THE TBS, AND WERE TOLD THAT IT WASN'T FOR OUR VEHICLE. 2 HANDLES IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS WOULD WARRANT THE REPLACEMENT OF ALL HANDLES. WE DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY A RECALL HASN'T BEEN DONE, IF THIS IS AN KNOWN ISSUE, OR WHY OUR VEHICLE IS SUPPOSEDLY NOT INCLUDED IN THE TSB. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS ACCESS CANNOT BE OBTAIN FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE.

THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. *AS
The problem that i? M i? M having is a code p0456 (evaporative emission system leak detected, which is a small leak. The reason why i? M worried is because the gauge for the rpms goes all the way across as far as it can go, in other words it? S like as if i? M pushing down on the gas pedal as far as it can go , it does this when i? M driving on the highway, when i? M about to leave a signal light from a complete stop , when i? M driving up a hill is when it? S worst.
