2018 Kia OPTIMA

It started with the car using oil but the mechanic could not determine where the oil was going. It quickly lead to the cadillac converter going out with a host of other things that cost me over $2900 to fix. Which only lasted a few weeks and the last incident occurred when i was on my way home and it would not pick up speed at all and would stall. The first time it happened i was on the free way and it lost speed almost causing a semi to run into the back of me. The second time i was at a red light and when i tried to accelerate in speed and it stalled and then began to jerk before it would pick up speed. Each time the occurrence happened it placed my life as well as my families life in danger as it was sudden with no engine light or any other lights coming on. The last time it happened it left me stranded with a child, over 2 hours from home and in the middle of the night on isolated highway. Every time i would call kia they would give me the run around on the issue and say it was due to my negligence but i beg to differ as i feel as if it is an engine error on the manufacturing. Please help. Currently the car is sitting in my yard and i can not afford to keep paying for repairs due to a faulty engine that they refuse to fix.

12-29-2023, the kia sorento started smoking on the way home. When i got home i opened the hood and saw fire. I put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. On 1-9-2024, i made an appointment with archer kia and had the car towed there for a diagnosis. After a month with no response, the service manager at kia advised me to contact kia corporation. I spoke to a representative and was assigned a case number. The representative stated that i should have gotten a software update but could not produce any information that i received a recall notice for the software update. All recall notices that i received were addressed and oil changes were regularly done at a major retail store. I was told that an investigation would be done and that i would be contacted. I didn’t receive a response for two months. I called kia corporation and was told that they sent information to an address that belonged to my mother which was calling her number instead of calling me. It was never determined why the information was sent to my mother. The car had been registered to my address for over 10 years. Once we established the correct information, i was asked to send service records. I was sent a letter before the representative received the service records stating that the cause of the fire was normal wear and tear. I went to the archer kia dealership to talk about the next step. The service manager stated that kia didn’t send him anything so i waited. This was may 2023. January 2024, i contacted archia kia for information. They had received a decline notice to replace the motor. I called kia corporation again. I discovered that the original representative no longer worked there. The new representative wanted to call the dealership on a three way call. The service manager was not available and the representative told me he would call me back. 2019 Kia Soul

Safety at risk:yes lack of visibility problem has not been reproduced by dealer. Smells are only warning signs: smell is like rubber but not very strong. Warning signs of the problem: turned on heat and extremely hot heat came out of vents; turned a/c and extremely hot heat came out of vents in both cases turned the vehicle off. After 5 minutes, i started to drive with a/c later there was still hot heat coming out vent since i had urgent appointment. After the appointment, over an hour, drove car and a/c worked fine. : april 16th, turned on defrost for front windows. Instead of defrost, windows fogged up completely and i was unable to see and pulled over to side of road. As i pulled over, black smoke came out of a/c vents and began to fill up the car with black smoke. There is a smell that happns right before the smoke comes out. April 17 took to classic kia. Unable to find the problem. Vehicle returned to me. :april 18 drove 4 miles. No problem. Drove 12 miles. The smells started and black smoke started coming through a/c vent and i drove home and parked. Called dealership told problem.

My car accelerates automatically and doesn’t stop unless slam on break this is happening occasionally yesterday i was about to hit front car after taking the exit. Even after breaking the car kept moving at full speed. It’s a huge safety concern i was with family and we all got so scared

Later, the AAA technician made the contact aware that the shifter had failed to engage. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V612000 (Power Train), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

2019 Kia Sedona

The contact owns a 2019 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle a strong odor of fuel was present inside the cabin of the vehicle and the check engine light had remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the high pressure fuel regulator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The high pressure fuel regulator was replaced but the failures continued to occur. The manufacturer was notified of the failures but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 39,000.

2018 Kia Soul gas pedal stopped working while driving on interstate 695. On April 7, 2024 my car displayed the following warning message on the dash while I was driving on the beltway. “Transmission Temp high please stop safely”. The warning light went off, but I took my car to the Koons Kia service on April 9, 2024. A few days later I was informed by the dealer that the transmission needed to be replaced and that the engine had sludge. I was later informed that the clutch actuator also needed to be replaced. The Transmission was covered under warranty and Koons Kia allegedly did the repair. I picked my car up on April 17th. The very next day (April 18) the transmissions started making noise. I contacted the dealer on the 18th and reported the concern. They told me to bring the car back on Tuesday , April 23rd. At no time did anyone warn me of the potential safety issue. I do not know what the mechanics at Koons Kia did, but the car was worse and more dangerous after the repair. Unfortunately, on April 22,2024 while driving on interstate 695, my car started to lose power and suddenly slow down. Cars rushing by and my car would not accelerate when I applied the gas pedal. The warning message “ Transmission temp high stop safely “ appeared again. I pulled over on the shoulder until the car cooled off. This time there was a smell along with it. When the car cooled off, I slowly drove the rest of the way with my hazard lights on. I contacted Kia dealership, Kia roadside assistance, and Kia customer service. No one warned me of the extreme safety issue nor did they offer any assistance with getting me home or with getting car back to service department. My car is back at the dealership. But this is a major safety issue. The gas pedal stopped working without warning while I was on interstate 695 going well over 50mph. There were other cars zooming by. very dangerous. I could have been hurt or someone else could have been hurt.
