Consumers have filed a total of 27 complaints related to Land Rover VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL.
Loss of total acceleration when changing steady speed to a higher speed. Rpm gauge moves and the engine revs up as the gas pedal is pushed with no acceleration of the vehicle and the loss of present speed. No power at all as if the vehicle was in neutral. This issue started after the vehicle reached over 50,000 miles on the odometer. This has happened four times in the last five months on the interstate doing speeds of 50 mph to 70 mph, just recently at 50 mph on the interstate trying to merge into traffic.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED. THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE THAT ENGINE OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO JAGUAR LAND ROVER ANAHEIM HILLS (5401 E. LA PALMA, AVENUE, ANAHEIM, CA, 92807, (714) 646-7053) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED FAILURE CODES AT THE CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID AND THE OXYGEN SENSOR. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID AND THE OXYGEN SENSOR HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THE THAT THE VEHICLE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SET THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,028.
For two years this car as had numerous episodes of while driving completely shutting down with no advanced warning and at various speeds. I have driven on warm, cold, wet and dry days when this has occurred. Most recently i was driving on a main street when the car just shut down and was almost hit from behind. The car has been in for service many times with no resolution, they say they can not duplicate the problem. This is a dangerous and unsafe automobile and i am lucky that the car behind me was able to avoid the collision. I am afraid to drive this car, luck was on my side this last time, i could have been injured or worse. Besides the shutting down this car has had so many electrical/computer issues and always needs software updates which don't really fix the problems and sometimes cause other issues to occur. (ie, the infotanment center, the bluetooth, the cameras, the media, the navigation, the access height moves while driving, the list is endless. ) since september 2018 this car has been in the dealership with many issues. Again, this car is dangerous and unsafe.
ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASING MY Land Rover Discovery I NOTICED THERE WAS A LAG TIME WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHEN MAKING A TURN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT SHOULD BE RESOLVED BY UPDATING THE SYSTEM. THEY UPDATED IT BUT IT CONTINUED TO HAVE THE LAG ISSUE SO I COMPLAINED AGAIN AND THEY SAID IT?S THE NATURE OF THE CAR. I TOLD THEM THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND THEY CLAIM THEY HAVEN?T RECEIVED ENOUGH COMPLAINTS TO SAY IT?S AN ISSUE WITH CAR. I ALSO HAVE HAD OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SUCH AS THE NAVIGATION SCREEN GOING BLANK WHILE DRIVING OR NOT COMING ON AT ALL AND ALSO MY REMOTE KEY FOBS DO NOT WORK ALL THE TIME. EVEN WITH THE REMOTES IN MY HAND NEAR THE CONSOLE THE CAR WILL SAY THEY ARE NOT DETECTED. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY WERE FINE. TODAY, I RECEIVED A RECALL FROM LAND ROVER STATING THERE ARE VARIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH CAR WHERE THE VEHICLE COULD CUT OUT WHILE IN MOTION AND MAY LOSE ALL ELECTRICAL POWER. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT THEY ARE BOOKED OUT FOR 3 WEEKS SO I WILL HAVE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS UNSAFE CAR. I THINK IT?S VERY IRRESPONSIBLE OF LAND ROVER TO PUT OWNERS IN A POSITION TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE A VERY UNSAFE CAR. THESE CARS SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD.
I experienced an unintended powered rollaway. Specifically, as i was reversing out of my garage, i noticed something on the ground so i put the vehicle in park to pick it up. When i exited the vehicle, i was standing in the wedge between the driver? S seat and the open driver? S door, and the car unexpectedly rolled in reverse. I did not hear or see any warnings at any time that alerted me that i was in any danger. I quickly tried to get back into the car to stop it (my 4-yr-old son was inside) and, when trying to get back in, i was pushed out, fell to the ground, and found myself fighting with the door and the tire coming toward my head and body. I stuck my right hand into the car to press the brake pedal with my hand. Ultimately, my right hand fell out of the car, and the car rolled over and crushed it. The driver? S door hit my head, which caused a concussion and bleeding. The car dragged me from the garage into the driveway, causing tire burns and scrapes on my body. Ultimately, the car stopped when it rolled down the driveway and hit a post across the street. I was then transported to the hospital in an ambulance, where they ran multiple tests on my entire body and diagnosed my concussion and broken hand. I have since had to undergo reconstructive surgery on my right, dominant hand as the bones in my hand were crushed by the vehicle? S tire.
