2015 Kia Sorento
  • Date of Incident: Oct-06, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-23, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE

1. The engine seized and lost total power at 74,795 miles due to faulty rod bearings manufactured by kia and due to metal shavings left within the engine compartments. Yes, i have the vehicle in my possession. It is stored at my apartment garage and it is available for inspection. 2. I was driving my vehicle on the highway prior to sudden engine seizure and loss of power. The check engine light appeared for the first time on 10/6/23. I immediately took my vehicle to my mechanic (same day on 10/6/23) where it seized and lost complete power on the road. It had to be pushed into the mechanic's garage by hand. Total loss of power of my vehicle could have resulted in a catastrophic accident and injuries to myself and others. I could have lost control of the vehicle and i could have been rear-ended or side-swiped at a high speed on the highway or the street. Additionally, my vehicle was recalled due to a faulty hecu/abs module, which could have resulted in engine fire and it was recalled due to increased theft risk because my vehicle was manufactured without an engine immobilizer. Kia did not notify me of any recalls nor did they notify me of their self-proclaimed and self-manufactured ksds and "product improvement campaign - p11802". Kia corp (irvine, ca) only provided a sample letter on 11. 13. 23. 3. Yes, the defect was confirmed by my mechanic, kia corp, and by the grand kia dealership in thornton, colorado. 4. Yes, the vehicle was inspected by the grand kia dealership in thornton, colorado. Grand kia confirmed that there was no rotation of the crankshaft and no power or codes detected upon scanning the engine. Grand kia confirmed that the engine failure was due to their faulty rod bearings, but denied engine replacement because i did not upgrade my engine with their ksds/"product improvement campaign", although they upgraded my car with the ksds upon diagnosis to cover up. Grand kia stated that engine seizure is not a safety issue. 5. Yes, check engine light.

2018 Tesla MODEL S
  • Date of Incident: Apr-22, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-23, 2024
  • Failed components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER, STEERING, and ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I was driving on the dallas north tollway (dnt) northbound to for a work meeting on monday, april 22, 2024, at about 3 pm (central). My 2018 tesla model s shut down while driving on the freeway. The power steering went off and so did the hazard lights. I pulled over to the shoulder. Unfortunately, the shoulder is not too wide on dnt. I was driving at 70 mph or so when this happened. The only warning that popped on the tesla screen was “vehicle shutting down pull over safely”. The battery still had about 175 miles left to empty. So, this was an unusually unsafe incident that could have been life threatening.

2019 Ford Expedition
  • Date of Incident: Mar-19, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-23, 2024
  • Failed components: POWER TRAIN, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, and ENGINE

My Ford Expedition has lost power 4 times requiring me to pull off the Interstate and have the car towed. I have been driving 75-80 mph each time this has happened. It is as if the car takes a big deep breath, and then loses all power. It failed most recently on Halloween 2023, and then again in March of 2024. Prior to these two times, the car has lost power 2 other times. It has always been serviced at a Ford dealership. All three times INCLUDING this last time the dash lights on the car have read, "powertrain failure" and "pre-collision brake assist not available". When it failed in March, even though it registered a code both on my dash and in my Ford Pass App, the dealership said they could not reproduce the problem therefore, there was nothing they could fix. I am scared to get behind the wheel of this car. I also do not want to sell it to anyone else for fear they will have the same problem. Cars don't just lose power while driving 75 mph. It is dangerous and a definite safety concern. It is not like I am driving a pinto. This was a brand new car, is fully paid for, has clean maintenance records, and is an expensive vehicle. It has been well taken care of and should not have power failure four times at only 4 years old. It is terrifying to be driving at high speed and lose power. I have been very lucky to not have caused a secondary accident on the freeway, or been in an accident myself when this has happened.

2017 Ford Escape
  • Date of Incident: Oct-15, 2021
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-23, 2024
  • Failed components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The headlights on my escape constantly go out. The bulbs are never burnt out but the headlights will not work. I have seen countless Ford Escapes that are the same style (so I assume a similar year) that are driving on the road with the same issue. I’ve had two shops look at it and say the bulbs are not burnt out but could not find the issue. This is a severe safety issue and needs to be recalled.

2023 Honda HR-V
  • Date of Incident: Jan-15, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-23, 2024
  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM and VISIBILITY/WIPER

Back in mid january, there was a winter storm in our area that hit overnight. Mild snow, but predominantly ice. Heading into work the next morning, i needed to use my defroster (both front and rear) to allow visibility with my windshields. I was able the clear the ice off my window and arrived safely to work. 8 hours later i headed home and again there was still some ice on my rear-windshield which prompted the use of my rear defroster. On my way home (less than 15mins from work) i did not notice any changes in visibility. Once i arrived home, i discovered that my entire rear-windshield was uniformly shattered, still intact, but shattered. Seems as though my window shattered sometime during the work day. The next day i went to my dealership as my car is still under warranty and had only been purchased less than 15 months prior. The service advisor informed me there was nothing they could do for me. Informed them of my research, as i was not the only 2023 honda hr-v with this issue and stated that this was something that needed to be addressed by them or american honda. At the start of february i got a response from the service advisor that my case was approved at the district level, but there were no windows available. Unrelated to the window, i was in a separate accident which prompted removal of my broken window to fix the body. The repairs were completed within two weeks and was released with crash-wrap hoping i could immediately transfer it over to honda, but there still was no window available. I reached out to american honda hoping for some assistance and still have no results. While i now get weekly updates on status, there is no guarantee of product delivery. It is now end of april, i have been without a window since end of february (broken window since mid-january). While my case is classified as critical, i still have no answers as to when i can/will have a window.

2018 Honda Accord
  • Date of Incident: Apr-09, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-23, 2024
  • Failed components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, and FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

I have 2018 Honda Accord sport 2.0 manual transmission. I’m dealing with the ABS module malfunction where the abs module board is detective due to the pins being unsoldered due to intense heat in the engine area. To repair the ABS module it costs around $1200. But Honda has not made the abs module better. Mechanic states even the new module will not be guaranteed after replacing the module. I need help to get this item recalled. As this issue has been going on for any Honda from 2011-2022 veichels.

2016 Kia FORTE
  • Date of Incident: Apr-23, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-23, 2024
  • Failed components: SERVICE BRAKES and ENGINE

I was attempting to park in a parking spot that i use regularly at dollar general. As it was coming to a stop, the brakes failed. I was pushing the brake pedal down. The car started to rev up and speed forward on it's own. It lunged forward jumping the curb and into the pillar. It wouldn't stop going forward. So i had to put it in reverse. As i did that, i put the brakes on as well as the ebrake. It was wanting to speed in reverse for a second. So i threw it into park and turned it off. My family and i went into the store to let the car settle down. Then we was able to drive it home and park it. So it's currently sittling in our driveway here at home.
