2015 mazda cx5 2. 0 l, well maintained; recommended oil used at proper intervals, with 130,000 miles, mostly highway driven. With no warning lights and/or sounds, vehicle started loosing power at around 30 mph in the city and engine completely stalled. Aaa was called to start the vehicle to no avail, battery checked out ok. Towed to mazda dealership in wichita, ks. Dealer service examined vehicle and found a valve stem broken and lying on top of engine, visible through the spark plug well. As the owner, along with the service manager, i saw the broken valve stem in the engine but also notice my engine was extremely clean on the inside with clean oil as well, no evidence of dirt and/or sludge of any kind. Vehicle owner commented to the dealer how clean the engine and the vehicle was kept inside and out. Dealer responded by text to owner, new engine replacement, at the cost of $7000; used engine with 91,000 miles at $5000. Dealer stated after 60,000, vehicle of out of warranty. Owner researched and found evidence the failure is likely due too engine design. Mazda built an aluminum engine with high compression ratio, but built it lighter and with smaller component parts. According to engineers, that's a recipe for various component parts and ultimately overall engine failure. The skyactiv engine operates at 13. 0 compression ratio, by design; if not designed properly and being it's new technology, failures like internal component parts and the engine, are likely. Owner's vehicle at dealer for almost 3 weeks and they are offering no assistance to repair the vehicle. There needs to be an inquiry into the design of the skyactiv engine and address mazda alleging owner's are abusing vehicles and charging exorbitant prices for mechanical issues caused by their product design. Owner currently has two 2015 mazda cx5's. Dealer/mazda offering no assistance.

Brought it in nov 2020 regarding smells and engine issues as well as alignment. Neither were taken care of. Then march 2021,engine was leaking fluid and smoking, and the engine needed to be replaced at 20k. Did not provide a rental until later that week. After a month, i got my car back. After leaving the engine continued to smoke, brought it back. Gave no rental. Dealer said it was left over fluid from when they replaced it. Car is still having issues with the engine and smells. Under shield fell off and needed to be replaced twice. Tire pressure was going off and brought it in twice for them to say they cant find where the slow leak is or why so they wouldn't fix it even though i have the mazda insurance for tires.

My sunroof just exploded while i was driving down the road. I have a dash cam which captured absolutely nothing impacting the glass. It just burst?.

Daytime running lights stopped working

Infotainment system continuously rebooting / cmu goes bad. Cannot reboot with removing nav card, etc. This disables bluetooth, navigation, affects the camera. There are numerous reports online that this is an issue across the board.

THE FOLLOWING WARNING AND WARNING LIGHTS BEGAN AROUND 34,980 MILES ON MY 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 GRAND TOURING 2.5L SKYACTIV-G WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE: MASTER WARNING LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, POWER STEERING, KEYLESS SYSTEM MALFUNCTION, SMART CITY BRAKE SUPPORT MALFUNCTION, FORWARD SCBS DISABLED, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TCS/DSC INDICATOR LIGHT, TCS OFF INDICATOR LIGHT, BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) OFF INDICATION, BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT, ABS WARNING LIGHT, ELECTRIC BRAKE WARNING LIGHT, AIR BAG/FRONT SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT, TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT, LED HEADLIGHT WARNING LIGHT, AND THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO TURN OFF. USING THE LEFT BLINKER WILL CAUSE THE VEHICLES POWER TO RESTART AND YES, WHILE DRIVING! THIS STARTED NOVEMBER 14, 2020 AND WHEN I NOTIFIED MAZDA, THEY DID NOT SEEM CONCERNED AND A COUPLE DAYS LATER THE LIGHT WERE NO LONGER THERE. THIS OCCURRED AGAIN DECEMBER 15, 2020 AND MARCH 5, 2021 WHEN I DECIDED MAZDA NEEDS TO RUN A DIAGNOSIS BECAUSE CLEARLY SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. MY DEALERSHIP INSISTED IT WAS MY BATTERY (BASICALLY THE ONLY WARNING LIGHT NOT ON) AND MY REAR BRAKE PADS. THEN WHEN THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE, THEY SAID CORROSION NEEDED TO BE CLEANED WHICH WAS NOT SHOWN IN THE VEHICLE INSPECTION VIDEO. ALSO, MY CAR WAS JUST SERVICED AT MY MAZDA DEALERSHIP JULY 2020 WITH 33,706 MILES. SEPTEMBER 2020 MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND I RETURNED TO A LARGE CRACK ON THE DRIVER SIDE. AROUND 25,000 THE TIRED NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, NOW AT 36,666 MILES TIRE THREAD DEPTH IS IN THE YELLOW' MY VEHICLE ALIGNMENT HAS ZERO ISSUES AND MY MAZDA DEALERSHIP IS THE ONLY ONE WHO ROTATES THE TIRES (OR SUPPOSE TO).

Driving on expressway 65mph with just under a quarter tank of gas and engine cut off on its own. My son was able to pull off to the side of the road, but was very dangerous as it was a very busy highway. I feel that the fuel pump is defective at highway speeds. Had vehicle immediately towed to closest dealer. I was charged a diagnostic fee. Again, i feel it is a weak design of the fuel pump and dangerous to drive at highway speeds.

MY 2020 Mazda CX-5 SUNROOF GLASS SUDDENLY EXPLODED FOR NO KNOWN REASON AS I WAS DRIVING 45 MPH ON HIGHWAY 97 IN OREGON. THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED AND IT JUST SUDDENLY BURST. ALL THE GLASS BROKE AND THERE WAS A HOLE WHERE IT BLEW OUT. IT WAS A SUNNY DAY. THE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 55 DEGREES.

I was parked at a fast food restaurant that had an outdoor kiosk for payment. I got out of my car to pay and got back in. After about a minute or two my car accelerated forward, going over a sloped curb and down a short low grade hill, hitting a pole. I was confused to how the car would go forward because i was in park the whole time.

The car color is soul red and the paint is flaking off. I drive the car short distances under 40mph and it looks like the paint is chipping more and more. It's almost like big rocks are hitting the paint but there is no debris where i drive.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 Mazda CX-5. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS SHORT IN THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE THE MECHANIC WAS WORKING ON VEHICLE, THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. INVALID VIN.

I was driving on the interstate with my husband and our sunroof glass spontaneously shattered. We just heard a really loud bang and all of the sudden, we could hear the wind blowing and our sunroof cover was being forced open. We stopped immediately and found our sunroof broken to pieces. At the time of the incident, the weather was sunny/cloudy and in the 60s. There was no bridge or overhead pass, no big trucks driving nearby us. The environment outside was flat, dry lands.

I heard a very loud bang, sounding like a gunshot that went off, when the sunroof above my head violently shattered while i driving to work. I almost lost control of the car and got covered with pieces of glass. The glass scratched me on the face, close to my eye. I am in shock and i am still finding small pieces of glass all over my body even after taking a shower.

I was driving and was approaching a stop sign so i pressed brake to come to a stop. While i was pressing the brake, the car suddenly revved up and lurched forward. I had to switch the car to neutral gear to stop and then back up out of the way of oncoming traffic.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT CALLED JEFF WYLER EASTGATE MAZDA (1117 OH-32, BATAVIA, OH 45103, (513)752-3447) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

The car stalled while in motion on the highway with 56 miles left in the gas tank. This caused a very dangerous situation due to the fact that i could not accelerate at all, as the traffic was speeding past. I had to coast through traffic to the safety of the shoulder of the road. Once the vehicle came to a stop, it wouldn't restart and it seemed as if it never actually stopped trying to restart. I noticed a few things during this situation. 1. The check engine light came on 2. All the dash board lights appeared to come on 3. The emergency brake and hold button for city parking brake were flashing at the center counsel 4. The dashboard warnings rotated between, city parking brake, parking brake, cruise system disabled 5. The battery finally died after several minutes of this happening my family and i were brought to safety by a state trooper and had the vehicle towed to a gas station. We filled the gas tank, jumped the car and it has not had the issue since. Unfortunately the rear lift gate has only worked one time after the event but i am not sure what is going on there. I had this same issue happen once in 2019, and the vehicle restarted. I took it to a mazda dealer and they said it may have been bad gasoline. The vehicle issue seems to match a similar issue mentioned in recall 3719f.

Vehicle was on a city street traveling at 35-40 mph when the front left wheel (yokohama geolandar g91) spontaneously blew out despite not colliding with any objects or road hazards. As a result, driver side curtain and seat airbags erroneously deployed and the vehicle immediately shutoff, causing disorientation and temporary loss of hearing in one ear.

Transmission would not accelerate and automatically braked in the middle of an intersection. Would not advance and to the next gear and automatically kept breaking every few feet. Had to pull over and be towed. No advance warning or prior transmission issues. Car maintenance has been kept up. Lucky it didn't happen on a highway going 65.

AFTER THE REAR BRAKES WERE REPLACED THERE WAS A TERRIBLE GRINDING NOISE WHEN FIRST DRIVING UNTIL THE CAR WARMED UP. IT DID NOT HAPPEN WHEN FIRST REPLACED IN THE SUMMER BUT WHEN IT GOT COLDER IT GOT WORSE. TURNED OUT TO BE THE SAME CALIPER ISSUE THAT WAS RECALLED IN PREVIOUS MODELS BUT NO RECALL FOR THE CX-5
