The contact owns a 2015 mazda cx-5. The contact stated the tires deflating abnormally. The contact stated that the tires needed to be inflated on a weekly basis. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the rims were improperly fitted to suit multiple tires, causing the tires to deflate. The vehicle had not been repaired. The tires had been replaced by several other brand tires however, the failure persisted. The dealer confirmed that the failure was not a tire failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
I was driving on the highway and decided to switch int the left lane so i sped up and heard a big bang and what sounded like my bumper being dragged against the ground. I see on my dashboard that there’s an electrical and engine malfunction so i pullover and pop the hood. A bunch of smoke comes out and i see a little fire so me and my friends run and call the police. The police and firefighters arrived just as the fire was getting large and it had engulfed the front right side of my car. If the notification that there was a malfunction didn’t come on, i feel as if we could’ve been hurt much worse or even have died. I’m not much of a person that knows about cars and it sounded like my bumper was scraping and by the amount of times i’ve scraped my bumper, i believed it until i saw my notification. The vehicle is still being inspected for cause of fire and this vehicle has never had this problem before.
As i am accelerating to merge onto the highway from an on-ramp, while the gas pedal is depressed, i will get a series of sensor alerts simultaneously (city brake malfunction, park assist malfunction, lane assist malfunction, etc. ) and my gas pedal becomes non-functional at 60-70mph. It is terrifying especially when there is other traffic around my vehicle. This exact issue has happened 6 times within the past 12-18 months at seemingly random intervals but always when i am accelerating onto the highway at 50-70mph. I typically pull off to the side of the highway and turn off the vehicle. After letting it sit off for ~30 seconds, i turn the vehicle back on and all of the sensor alerts have cleared and the vehicle functions properly including the gas pedal and i am able to rejoin the highway. I took the car to the mazda dealership in my state of vermont a few months ago to have them diagnose and address the problem. They had never heard of this issue and were unable to find the root cause or fix it. Please help, this is dangerous!
The vehicles infotainment system has what is called ghost touches. Which is very distracting while driving the vehicle. This is a common issue mazda does not seem to have a recall for. The infotainment system behave erratically, and won't allow the user to change settings in the vehicle.
The vehicle's battery has gone dead on several occasions since replacing the oem battery. The oem battery which was approximately 3 years old, also had gone dead, prompting its replacement. The battery has gone dead within 1-2 days of not using the car. Charging the battery by running it is only a temporary fix as the car needs to be constantly driven in order to charge the battery, which is not usual and customary for the maintenance of a vehicle. This cannot be functioning to manufacturer's specifications, as i find it extremely difficult to believe that manufacturer's specifications stipulate to drive the car with more frequency. This is a safety issue. Should this happen during the winter months, an individual may be left stranded. The nhtsa must demand mazda to issue a safety recall to fix this safety issue.
Just noticed coolant leak during oil change. Vehicle has 77,000 miles. Power train warranty is only to 60k. The vehicle is undriveable without major engine work or engine replacement.
On 8/7/2023 i noticed that there had been intermittent engine oil level alarms on my phone's mazda app over the previous several weeks starting on 7/14/2023. In none of the instances did the low oil level light on the instrument cluster light up. I checked the oil level and it was at the bottom of the indicating range on the dipstick. I added 1 quart of oil to bring the level to the top of the indicating range. The oil had last been changed by a mazda dealer on 10/31/2022 at a vehicle mileage of 13,699. On 8/18/2023 when i took the vehicle in to the mazda dealer to check this issue the mileage was 20,432, a difference of 6,733 miles. That mileage was well within the owner's manual prescribed service interval mileage. There is no oil on the floor of the garage under where the car is parked leading me to believe the oil has been leaking into the combustion chamber. My vehicle is covered under mazda technical service bulletin 01-012/21 which offers a possible explanation. I suggest my vin should be added to tsb 01-003/23 which covers the repair. Without fixing this oil leak, my engine is at risk of catastrophic failure due to low oil level.
I just had my engine replaced due to a cracked cylinder head that allowed coolant to leak into cylinder #3 & #2.
Oil leak. Smoke from the engine. Inspected by the local body shop, we were told that the leakage would probably come from cylinder head. Https://mazdas247. Com/forum/t/cracked-cylinder-head-with-oil-leaking-how-common-is-this. 123876197/page-1
The infotainment lcd screen has "ghost touch" issue. The screen randomly appears to move around as if a ghost is touching the lcd touch screen. After researching online this is a common problem mazda will not address.
