While traveling on the freeway at 70mph, the car suddenly started flashing warnings of "ev system required stop safely", "rbs service required! ", and the service engine soon light came on. Also, i wasn't able to accelerate over 20mph. I quickly exited the freeway and turned off the car. When i restarted it, the car seemed to operate normally as far as the acceleration, but the service engine light soon light remained and the "brake! " forward collision mitigation system started to randomly kick in. Interestingly, in the week leading up to the system shutting down the forward collision mitigation system had randomly kicked in a few times, but i assumed there was something low in the road i wasn't seeing. I've also experienced issues with the audio system and rear camera in the week leading up to this incident; the rear camera twice never appeared when in reverse and the audio source would erratically switch from xm radio to apple car play on its own. The vehicle had just under 1,700 miles on it when this happened.
Vehicle started having rough idle at about 70,000 miles when air conditioner would be turned on. Rmp's would fluctuate between 500-1000. Now at about 90,000 miles vehicle has rough idle whether ac is on or not. Vehicle has stalled when changing gears, while waiting at a stop or when sitting in traffic. Today 3/24/21 vehicle stalled while entering an intersection which could have caused an accident. Vehicle also has a hesitation when trying to accelerate whether from a stop or from a coasting speed. Vehicle was taken to dealership on october 2019 for cvt8-ecm reflash as per recall but it only solved the acceleration problem for a couple of months. There should be another recall on this vehicle as these problems can cause personal injury/accident.
I was at a stop sign turning onto a highway, i accelerated and my car was moved into the middle of the road and my car turned off and then turned back on just a second or so later and i was able to drive again. I am not certain what happened as there were no codes thrown and the car continued to operate after turning itself back on. I am wondering if there is something in the computer programming that is faulty. When i got home, i checked all the connections and did not see any obvious faults. I also checked all fluid levels and caps just to be certain it wasn't something related to any of that somehow. It is scary though because there were vehicles coming toward me from both directions.
Fcm keeps blinking and alarm sounding when i started the car. My car been service at car dealership since purchased. After 100k miles they now discovered catalic converter need to be replaced per dealership. But nothing about fcm problem.
I purchased this vehicle on september 4, 2020. It had 12 miles on it and to my knowledge i was the original owner. On september 21, 2020 i took the vehicle on a 3 hour drive. While traveling at 45 miles per hour, the vehicle hit a deceased small animal (roadkill) with the passenger tire. The vehicle then became completely disabled as the engine stopped operating. Per the insurance adjuster, the object was able to bounce off of the engine, as it is not covered by any plating, shielding or protection. As the vehicle sits very low to the ground, the insurance adjuster was surprised that the vehicle did not have this engine protection as a standard measure. As a result, the small object which should have just bounced off the car was able to cause the engine to completely disable and need to be fully replaced. The damage was over $9,900 in total. In conversations with the dealership, i was advised that this particular mitsubishi car only has a small strip of plastic kick plate under the bumper area, and there is no protection at all from elements or otherwise to the engine undercarriage. No remedies were offered to me in regard to the defective vehicle.
