The transmission has given out. There are recalls for the same year (2014) on different nissan vehicles. There are issues that i have never had. One minute it will go then it'll shudder and not move at all even with the pedal pushed down. It goes into limp mode. There are threads and pages created just for this issue and nothing has been done about it. The car gave out on me while in traffic, pulling out into traffic, and nearly avoided causing a crash that could have ended in death or sever injury. Why is this not being addressed??? I've had the transmission flushed by nissan and also after the incident. The vehicle is available for inspection but will need to be towed. I should not have to fork out thousands of dollars to fix a major nissan issue. This happened with no warning. Just failure. No warning lamps or symptoms.

2024 Nissan MURANO
  • Date of Incident: Oct-09, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Dec-04, 2024
  • Failed components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

While driving on the highway i decided to pass the vehicle in front of me. At the same time i had hit the button to resume the speed i had set on the cruise control. I pushed the pedal all the way to the floor to quickly pass the vehicle in front and when i got past him and let off the peddle my vehicle kept accelerating. I tried turning off the cruise control but that didn’t help. I finally put the car in neutral and coasted to a stop with the engine racing. I tried to pull the accelerator up thinking it was stuck but that didn’t work. Finally i turned the vesicle off and restarted the car and it started working normally. I don’t know what/why that happened and i’ve been afraid to try to duplicate that incident by pushing the accelerator all the way down again. I think this is dangerous and thus i’m reporting this.

On [XXX] I was driving back down [XXX] , stopped at red light and when light changed to green, I proceeded to take off and as I got under the interstate overpass my vehicle abruptly started slowing down as if it was going to shut completely down and the panel in the dash turned red with a symbol of a car. There was a vehicle coming directly behind me and I am thankful they were not following me closely because it may have caused them to hit me from behind. A few seconds later the vehicle picked up speed and the red warning light disappeared quickly. 11/11/24 I made a call to Nissan Consumer Affairs to create a case (case#[XXX]) and representative opened and closed the case without escalating to a specialist for review. On 11/13/24 I took the Vehicle into a Nissan Dealership to perform a diagnostic on the vehicle and no code was found. I was told to bring the vehicle back in for a full day to troubleshoot. With all of the safety features this vehicle has, I thought issues like this would be recorded. I asked the service advisor if anyone else has reported this issue and he stated not on the 23 Murano but have received reports of other Nissan vehicles just shutting down. This could have been a very bad situation and Nissan Consumer Affairs did not seem to care when this issue was brought to their attention. Also have reported issue with brake pedal squeaking and wheel slipping when making short turn on driver's side. Issues are never found by the dealership in most cases, until the warranty runs out which is very short (3yrs 36,000). I attempted to upload document to support my trip to dealership, but received message that file is too large. When trying to merge onto the interstate, the car didn't accelerate, causing other vehicles on the road to swerve around me. Afterwards, I noticed that the car was shaking or juddering at low revs (about 1,000 RPM). I internet searched for possible causes and found that this shaking was caused by a known problem with the CVT on my car (Nissan Murano). I bought the car (a 2015 Nissan Murano AWD SL) in 2018 as a certified pre-owned vehicle only used by that Nissan dealership, it now has 63,841 miles on it. I needed the vehicle so I had the transmission replaced (I was told that 'fixing' the problem was not an option), at a cost of $7,157.19. There was no warning, no lights on the dash, etc. I had also just had the car serviced at the dealership (on 8/3/24, which cost me $2,618.55) where they replaced the CVT fluid as part of the service. I'm just lucky that the transmission didn't fail while I was actually going at a higher speed. Nissan needs to recall and/or replace these transmissions.

The contact owns a 2010 nissan murano. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the same diagnostic test result was provided and the contact was informed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

My sunroof exploded but i don't know why. There was no warning. Might have been a rock but i didn't see one. I had the sunroof closed but the fabric cover was open for light. I heard an explosive noise and then glass started raining in. I closed the fabric cover to keep the glass out of the passenger compartment. No real injuries other than a couple of glass shards being sharp. Mostly just got some skin irritation. Some areas on my car have scratched paint and plastic parts. I had my nissan dealer look at it. They will clean up the glass and replace the sunroof for about $2000. I feel like it should be replaced for free as a warranty item. I also got an estimate from a collision shop for about $7500. There is scratched paint and plastic as well as the headliner certainly has glass in it. Their estimate was much more detailed. Filed an insurance claim today, so hope to have it all fixed up soon.
