  • Failed components: WHEELS and SERVICE BRAKES

I was driving n/b 101 freeway w my wife at approx 70 mph. I felt the rear end slip ever so slightly and thought maybe i somehow lost traction w the road. I continued driving and it occurred twice more in the span of a few miles. I then realized it was unlikely i continued to lose traction with the road. I told my wife something felt wrong and began to maneuver from the #1 lane to the shoulder. I slowed to 50 mph and continued straight w my foot off the accelerator and the brake with both hands on the steering wheel in a straight (non turning) position. Suddenly, the rear end of the vehicle came out and we went into a massive spin. It ultimately caused us to crash into a median wall. I have been through many driver's courses. I have been through many skid pad trainings. I have also been through precision intervention technique (pit) training. I have been in both the receiving end of a pit and the giving end of a pit. The force of this spin was greater than any spin i have felt. It felt like one side or perhaps both rear wheels locked up. I have no other explanation that could cause any vehicle to just spin out of control while driving straight at 50 mph.

2022 Porsche 911

  • Date complaint filed: Apr-15, 2024
  • Failed components: BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS

The cameras for the surround view incl backup and front and side cameras intermittent stop working, sometimes no camera is working, sometimes one or more are working randomly. Contacted porsche northamerica and even the topic is all over the internet forums already porsche denied that there is an issue. Talked to porsche dealership and they also denied that there is an issue. The backup camera and surround view on my car is not working, sometimes several days in a row, sometimes just for one drive, sometimes partly. I report this because i believe that the backup camera and surround view is a safety feature and not just a comfort feature. If the car is equipped with such feature it should work and the car manufacture should fi software or other issues related to it like other safety features.

2020 Porsche TAYCAN

  • Failed components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

On three separate occasions over the past year, my car's emergency collision avoidance system was triggered, (an alarm sounded, a red symbol was on my dash, and the brakes locked), erroneously. No accident occurred, but in the second case below, it caused the car behind me to lock up their brakes and just avoid hitting me... Thankfully they were very alert. The first two occasions happened two months apart, but at the same time of day and at the same location. On both occasions, i had driven down a street at approximately 7:30 in the morning. I slowed to make a left turn and then came to a complete stop because traffic was coming in the opposite direction. There was also a car facing me in the alternate lane of the road that i was turning into. Once all oncoming traffic had passed, i pressed the accelerator to make a left turn and turned and moved forward just a few feet when the emergency collision avoidance system was triggered and the car's brakes locked. Within a few moments, the system released and i was able to drive on. Both situations were identical in location and the traffic situation was as i just noted in both cases. The most recent occasion that the system was triggered happened this week. I was in a right turn lane with a car in front of me and one or several cars behind me. I had come to a stop behind the car in front of me who was waiting to make a right turn onto the road. Our turn signal was red. Once the turn signal turned green, the car in front of me moved forward and made the right turn. I accelerated and went about 25 feet and was about to join the road when the collision avoidance system activated, (an alarm sounded, a red symbol was on my dash, and the brakes locked). The car behind me skidded to a stop, luckily without hitting me, and then my car's system released and allowed me to drive on. This must be happening to other users. If so, porsche should be made aware and they should fix this.

Porsche dashboard leather shrunk and staples pulled out. I was told that if the vehicle was in an accident the airbag might not deploy correctly. The porsche dealer looked at it and recommended replacing it. This is a very common issue

There is an active spoiler that has a brake light built into it. There is a design issue with the wiring for the light in the spoiler. The brake light harness is worn out by the movement of the spoiler causing failure of the brake light. This meams there is no 3rd brake light when the spoiler is automatically activated.

This car completely shut down on a busy motorway and would not restart while blocking traffic. I called porsche auto service for a tow on a flatbed truck. They did not arrive for almost 5 hours while the car was dead standing still on a busy major intersection. Porsche has had this car in repair and have still not updated what caused the problem or scarier yet if it will happen again. This car has less than 1400 miles and is only. 3 months old.

2013 Porsche 911
  • Date of Incident: Oct-10, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-27, 2024
  • Failed components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The taillamp housing failed, and taillamp fell out of the vehicle. Online research shows that this is a design defect that porsche learned of early in the "991. 1" generation cars, as it is reported by multiple owners at multiple sites online. Well, happened to my early 991. 1 also. Porsche recognized the fatigue-failure within a year or so of launch, and instituted a fairly simple fix, by adding a metal reinforcement to the backside of the taillamp, to reinforce the insufficient plastic-only initial design. They launched this revised taillamp into 2014my or early 2015my cars (not sure when). No failures since. Porsche attempted to sweep this defect 'under the rug' by not recalling all earlier cars to institute a fix, but rather would just repair cars that failed under warranty. Porsche should not accept taillamps falling off of cars, especially at owners expense (and porsche pricing!! Ouch). Please investigate.
