  • Failed components: SERVICE BRAKES, POWER TRAIN, and VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

When taking off initially with the truck sometimes within the first 30 seconds of moving there is two yellow lights that come on the dash, while the center text window displays service brake system. The stored mil code is c0020-01. Also when going over bumps in the road the message will also return. Sometimes it stays on, and i do not have the ability to use cruise control. One time i was driving on the freeway and the surface was wet, as it had been raining. I needed to slow down rapidly because there was a sudden change in traffic. I went to hit the brakes and the truck had locked up the wheels, and then after the same lights and text were displayed.

  • Failed components: STEERING

The power steering completely stopped working. I originally noticed it was acting differently a few days prior. At that point, it was still working but, steering was ackward. The best way i can think of to describe it, is the steering wheel moved in the positions of seconds on a clock. Similar to a stepper motor. Luckily i was not driving when the complete failure happened. There would be no way to steer effectively. Today i went out for lunch, and the steering was locked up. When i tried to turn the wheel a load buzzing noise seemed to be coming from behind the steering wheel. It is currently at an auto shop but, i may move it to a dodge dealer to have a record of the problem, being there is an ongoing investigation with the nhtsa. The service power steering warning light came on after the total failure. It did not show up when it started acting up. I could possibly make it available for inspection if needed but, i need to get it back in action as soon as possible. Being i have no other vehicle.

  • Failed components: SERVICE BRAKES

Our antisocial brake modele has been out since november 2023. The light keeps coming on. We had it checked with a diagnostic check twice and it was confirmed. The dealer cannot get the part and we have tried to escalate the problem through chrysler, they refuse to do so. The mechanics can not tell us it is safe to drive so we are barely driving the truck. We are afraid we won't have brakes and if we are in an accident, it wouldn't be covered. They can't get the part and told us that they had more than 4,000 on backorder from our dealership. This is not covered and we have to pay over 450. 00 just for the part and they can't even get it in.

2024 Ram 1500

  • Date complaint filed: Mar-27, 2024
  • Failed components: WHEELS

2024 ram 1500. Approximately four weeks off the dealer lot new. Approximately 1,300 miles. The vehicle had never been involved in any sort of accident, hitting of a pothole or curb. As i was traveling down a secondary road at approximately 30 miles per hour, the rear-left wheel separated from the vehicle without warning. This caused extensive damage to both the ram and another vehicle that was later struck by the wheel. This occurred at approximately 11:00 pm. Upon inspection of the wheel, we noticed one of the lug studs was sheared off. The next day we returned to retrace the route i took that night to see if we could find any of the lug nuts. Approximately 500 from the point where i exited the parking lot, we located one lug nut with the stud sheared off still inside. Approximately three miles up the road from that location is where the wheel separation occurred. We were able to recover four lug nuts within 200 feet of that location. I had only had this vehicle for four weeks and had not, nor had i any reason to have loosened or taken off any of the wheel components. Manufacturing defect seems to be the only reasonable explanation. I have in my possession five lug nuts, one with the stud sheared off. The vehicle and wheel are currently at a ram dealership awaiting inspection by the manufacturer and insurance company. Our safety was put at risk because the vehicle experienced a violent jerking and lurching and could have flipped or collided into another object. The dislocated wheel could have killed the people in the car that were hit by it. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I do not know. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Currently ongoing. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No.

  • Date complaint filed: Mar-27, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE and ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

On numerous occasions since january 2024, the truck would not start or unlock, shut down while driving, power steering would go out, start up by itself, produce warning messages with & without codes for no reason, and the start/stop button flicker. We would have to set off the car alarm to get it unlocked then would have to disconnect the battery to make it stop. Every time we took it to the dealership, the technicians could not get the problems to repeat, even when keeping it for 10+ days. Once we got it back, the problems would start again. After further research and talking with the dealership, others have had issues like ours after it has rained. Upon further inspection, we found a water leak at either the rear sliding window or the taillight at the window. There was water droplets and wet carpet under the backseat. The truck has to "dry out" before it will start and run properly. Dodge/chrysler/ram really needs to put a recall on this issue as it is happening to multiple trucks and has had lawsuits with it. This is a safety issue!!

2020 Ram 1500
  • Date of Incident: Dec-09, 2020
  • Date complaint filed: Mar-26, 2024
  • Failed components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

The gas tank on the 2020 ram 1500 classic for some reason causes false fuel pump stoppages as if the tank was full. This causes fueling times to sometimes last 10 to 15 minutes and also causes a considerable amount of spillage due to the blowback of fuel. This creates a safety issue due to the possibility of fuel spraying back onto the driver. This is a known and recurring issue as i've seen it appear on several forums and pages numerous times from other ram truck owners. Mopar should make this gas tank issue a recall as soon as possible.
