YESTERDAY MORNING, I STOPPED MY SUBARU IN ORDER TO BACK INTO A PARKING SPACE. THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. WHILE MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE AND I WAS CHANGING GEARS FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE, THE ENGINE STARTED ACCELERATING FULL-THROTTLE. I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY HARD TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM GOING DOWN THE HILLSIDE BEHIND THE PARKING LOT. I PUT THE CAR BACK IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE REVVING FULL-THROTTLE AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. AFTER THIS INCIDENT THE CAR OPERATED NORMALLY ? UNTIL TODAY. TODAY, MY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY IN FRONT OF MY GARAGE. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE ? UNTIL, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, I ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE GEARS FROM PARK TO DRIVE. AGAIN THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY AND UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED FULL-THROTTLE. AS I WAS MOVING THE GEAR SHIFTER FROM PARK TO REVERSE TO NEUTRAL TO DRIVE, I AGAIN HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY HARD TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM BACKING INTO MY GARAGE DOOR. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY SUBARU DEALER BUT COULD NOT REACH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. AFTER 10-12 RINGS I GOT A MESSAGE INSTRUCTING ME TO LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR THEM TO CALL ME BACK SINCE THEY WERE CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING HEAVY CALL VOLUME DUE TO AN INCREASE IN RECALL ISSUES. I CALLED BACK AND GOT THROUGH TO SOMEONE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM TO THEM. THEY SAID THEY WERE UNFAMILIAR WITH THIS PROBLEM ON Subaru OutbackS.

Windshield spontaneous crack under wiper deicer connection vehicle was stationary
Substantial windshield crack with no visible previous damage. Vehicle was parked outdoors at approximately 2045 central time on 8/15/2019 facing west. At approximately 0900 central time on 8/16/2019 vehicle had a substantial 7+ inch crack descending from top of the windshield directly above and descending vertically down from near the driver eyesight camera. This is unacceptable behavior for glass which is meant to protect the driver and provide a view port from which most safety systems of the vehicle operate.
I was driving at approximately 45 miles per hour, coming down from a mountain range and just reached the bottom. I crossed a cattle guard and my sunroof shattered. I do not believe i rock hit as the dealership believes as their was no one directly in front of me and i was in a remote area of arizona. I believe the sunroof shattered for either no reason or possibly change in elevation and temperatures. This is not safe. Luckily my shield was closed, but the sound alone was startling and could have caused an accident.
Slowly pulling straight into parking spot at grocery store. Applied brake when car suddenly accelerated. I was able to control steering, but brakes would not work. Steered car into empty parking spot in front of me then turned hard right to avoid hitting parked cars in row across. Subaru hit a pick up truck that was reversing out of a diagonal parking spot. The car didn't stop upon impact, instead both right side wheels climbed up the side of truck at an angle. Air bags didn't deploy on impact. This was a very dangerous situation. The acceleration was uncontrollable and i am afraid to drive the car.
Hesitates for 3 to 4 seconds from a stop without warning. Has been occurring since we bought it new jan. 2017. Reported to service dept at dealership. Told it is the way i drive. Reported it to subaru corporate offices. They refuse to check into it and say it is not a problem. I am very careful about pulling into traffic as i never know when this will happen. It also has a rough idle. I know there is a problem with these vehicles in the throttle assembly.
Car was in motion and a loud pop in the windshield area was heard. After arriving home there is a crack in the windshield by the wiper blades that has extended about 6inches up. There did not appear to be rock or foreign object that hit the windshield. There seems to be a lot of issues with subaru windshields from what i keep reading.
At 65000 miles i had to replace a wheel bearing. I have never had a vehicle need a wheel bearing with this low millage. I am told others have had the same problem.
Subaru Outback 2016 4DR 2.5I - VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING LOUD NOISE WHEN DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY. NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. TOOK TO SUBARU DEALER IN CHANDLER AZ AND DEALER CHANGED RIGHT-REAR WHEEL HUB BEARING. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 67 K MILES.
WE HAD OUR FIRST SPONTANEOUS CRACK ABOUT A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING OUR Outback IN NOVEMBER 2018. I?M NOT SURE WHERE IT HAPPENED BUT WE HAD NOT HAD ANY ROCKS HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED IT WAS A CHIP (THEY USED A BALLPOINT PEN TO INSPECT AND I BELIEVE THEY CREATED A SMALL CHIP ALONG THE CRACK LINE) BUT THEY REPLACED IT FOR FREE. THE SECOND CRACK OCCURRED ABOUT A MONTH AFTER THE NEW WINDSHIELD WAS INSTALLED. I WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME AND HEARD IT HAPPEN; THERE WAS NO APPARENT ROAD HAZARD THAT CAUSED THE CRACK.THIS TIME I DIDN?T ALLOW THEM TO INSPECT WITH A BALLPOINT PEN AND, SURE ENOUGH, THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS A SPONTANEOUS CRACK AND SUBARU REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD FOR US. THE THIRD CRACK JUST OCCURRED AND I BELIEVE IT IS ALSO A SPONTANEOUS CRACK THAT HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT. THERE IS NO APPARENT CHIP. ALL OF THEM START IN THE BLACK AREA BELOW THE WIPERS. I WONDER IF THERE COULD BE A DEFECT IN THE STRUCTURE OF THE CAR THAT CAUSES UNDUE STRESS ON THE WINDSHIELD. I WENT TO A LOCAL SUBARU DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AND THE FIRST THING THEY DID WAS GET THEIR BALLPOINT PEN OUT. I WILL WAIT TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR AND WILL ALSO PURSUE ISSUE WITH SUBARU CUSTOMER RELATIONS.
TL THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 Subaru Outback. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN THE PARK POSITION, THE KEY FAILED TO EJECT FROM THE IGNITION WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CALLED GANLEY SUBARU OF BEDFORD (123 BROADWAY AVE, BEDFORD, OH 44146, (440) 439-3444) FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 146834249388. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
Was sitting at a traffic light on a city street, the light turned green and i accelerated through the light and after 100-200 yards, the car accelerated wide-open on its own. I hit one car on the right rear and rear-ended another which stopped the vehicle. All the airbags deployed.
While driving on the highway 8/10/19 a very small stone hit the windshield in the lower left corner. Within 10 minutes a large crack had formed from the extreme left edge to the middle of the driver vision section of the windshield. By the next morning the crack had extended to the middle of the windshield. There was a very small chipped area where the stone hit, barely visible. I even had zurichshield glass protection applied to protect the windshield, which was useless. About 21,200 miles on the car. I previously had a honda pilot that would have pits, even a crater from stones, but never a crack. I've owned many cars and have never had a crack until now. Very disappointed a small pellet hitting the windshield resulted in a crack that was so big that i had to entirely replace the windshield. My car is only 1 year old, and a small stone cost me over $500, plus the cost of a protectant program that failed as well. Dealer (williams subaru) said it was an auto insurance issue, not covered under warranty, or under the zurichshield (fixes up to 6 inch crack- mine never quit growing), they wouldn't do anything. I'm checking into getting a refund on the zurichshield policy...
Wobbling and shaking occurs when the car is in motion (when accelerating). Happens on street and on highway. Service advisor recommended transmission replacement. Please see attached extended warranty offer from the manufacturer as a result of previous complaints.
My wife was driving on i-80 in nebraska. With no traffic around, her sunroof spontaneously exploded while driving. There were no warning signs or anything ahead fo the event. Luckily the headliner shade was closed so the didn't get hit by glass and were able to pull over safely.
Sunroof spontaneously shattered/exploded while driving without impact or other vehicles around. Outside temperature was 86 degrees at the time. Was at highway speed on an interstate. Nothing was overhead. Glass exploded up and out.
On my way to work i heard a loud pop! Like a rock hit my windshield. Never saw a pit or any evidence. Pulled out of the garage there was a crack coming from the bottom of passenger side up the window. Now the crack has spread out like nothing i have ever seen.
Driving on highway with no one around at 7 am on sunday at 75 mph the sunroof exploded. Our sun shade was closed so all glass was blown across roof taking paint with it. Subaru replaced under goodwill not warranty.
Vehicle would not start. After jumping the battery vehicle started, aaa performed roadside testing and determined the battery and alternator are working properly and are sufficiently charged. Car would not start for unexplained reasons. Previous service history leads me to believe there is an ongoing electrical issue with this vehicle. Previously the airbag light would frequently illuminate. Dealership stated it was due to electrical interference and that nothing was wrong.
