MY 2016 Subaru Outback ALL OF SUDDEN HAD WARNING LIGHTS SUCH AS: BRAKE, ABS, AND STABILITY TRACTION CONTROL POPPED UP ON THE DASHBOARD WHEN THE CAR WAS IN PARK ANS WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND WILL NOT GO AWAY. IT HAS MADE MY STEERING WHEEL REALLY HARD TO TURN.
Since purchasing vehicle on 6/16/2016 we have had a recurring problem with drivers side window engaging the auto-reversing (anti-entrapment) feature causing an inability to close window. We have mentioned this issue to dealership numerous times sometimes documented, sometimes not. They reset switch, only for the problem to return. On our last visit6/31/2020 we were told there was a tsb (12-272-19r) but we would be charged $276. 22 for the repair. This is a safety issue and should be covered. We also purchased an extended warranty for $2547. 00 good until 6/16/2026 or 126000 miles and were turned down on coverage from them as well.
While heading home from a trip driving down highway 69 in michigan our windshield decided to start cracking. We did not hear any impact with the exception of the occasional bug. Of course taking it to the dealership the immediate response was. A rock or foreign object had impacted the windshield. Wrong. I have always feared when getting hit by a rock the windshield would crack. My wife actually witnessed the cracking process thinking at first it was rain again hitting the windshield. Within 200 miles the crack escalated from a couple inch crack to almost a 2 foot crack starting to make a u-shape around the eye-sight camera system. I would hate to think a bug's impact would cause such damage.
Windshield seemed to spontaneously crack from the top passenger side while parked. There was no evidence of any kind of impact. The crack progressed over a period of several hours, increasing while driving or with temperature changes. This is the second windshield in 2 years due to spontaneous cracking, and it is less than a year old.
BRAND NEW 2019 Subaru Outback WINDSHIELD MAJOR CRACKING DAMAGE FROM SMALL STONE IMPACT OR JUST A BUMP IN THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING? UNREASONABLE AND NOT RIGHT AT ALL.
TL THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 Subaru Outback. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT IMPACT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEAN TEAM VOLKSWAGEN OF BALLWIN (15121 MANCHESTER RD, BALLWIN, MO 63011) WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED AND DETERMINED THAT THE WINDSHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, 7 MONTH LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WITHOUT IMPACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.
During vehicle operation, both stationary and in traffic, the driver window intermittently does not close normally. Upon activation to raise the window when in open position, it rises only partway, then bounces back down. Only after repeated efforts, using multiple maneuvers of the power control, sometimes requiring pulling over on the highway so as not to further drive distracted, can one finally raise the window. This is a safety issue in that it requires driver attention during vehicle operation. It is also a hazard when needing to close the window rapidly to avoid dust, debris, weather precipitation, or strangers approaching the vehicle. We have taken it to the dealer to fix it on multiple occasions and each time are told that 1) nothing was wrong (again, it is an intermittent issue that we have documented with video 2) it was software-related and that they updated it to fix it and 3) it was the power window regulator and assembly (replaced twice). None of these efforts have solved this issue and the dealer has not been forthcoming with a reasonable solution over the past 2+ years while we are approaching our warranty expiration.
SIX MONTHS AFTER BUYING MY 2018 Outback THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED DOWN BY THE DEFROSTER. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF AN IMPACT. I REPLACED IT WITH SUBARU GLASS BECAUSE OF THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM. COST WAS $1000. ONE YEAR LATER ANOTHER CRACK APPEARED AT THE TOP MIDDLE PART OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE IS EVIDENCE OF A SMALL DING. THE WINDSHIELD SEEMS PARTICULARLY FRAGILE AND I UNDERSTAND OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE REPLACE THREE OR FOUR WINDSHIELD IN 40 YEARS OF DRIVING OTHER CARS BUT NOW HAVE TWO IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS ON THIS CAR. CAR IS OTHERWISE GREAT BUT CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELD.
I I HAVE A 2019 Subaru Outback LIMITED WITH APPROXIMATELY 16,700 MILES ON IT. PURCHASED IN 11/2018. WHEN I GO AND LOWER THE PASSENGER WINDOW, PUTTING IT BACK UP ON THE ONE TOUCH AUTO FUNCTION IT WILL GO TO THE TOP AND THEN BACK DOWN HALFWAY. THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW SWITCH BECOMES INOPERATIVE. I HAVE TO RAISE IT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE SWITCH SLOWLY TO GET THE WINDOW CLOSED AGAIN. THIS APPEARS TO HAPPEN AFTER THE CAR IS RUNNING FOR 30 MINUTES OR MORE AND HOT OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS NOW. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR NEXT WEEK AT THE SUBARU DEALER TO LOOK AT IT.
The windshield cracked spontaneously one day while driving. No other cars were around. Took into the dealership and they told us it was a rock chip that had cracked the windshield but the crack started at the top of the window and went down. No impact point is visible. We have also has another subaru which did the same thing but while sitting in garage.
Won? T let me remove the key when in park. Diagnosis is the shifter plate assembly needs replaced.

SINGLE ROCK CHIP TO WINDSHIELD OF 2020 Subaru Outback LIMITED XT WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY RESULTED NOT JUST IN CHIP BUT IMMEDIATE MULTIPLE EXTENDING CRACKS SPANNING MOST OF LENGTH OF THE WINDSHIELD. HAVE NOTED ONGOING CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT OVER THIS ISSUE.
There was a tiny rock chip that was about 7 inches from the bottom of the windshield in the center. I was at a complete stop and it cracked. About 14 inches from that chip across then down. It also spidered up about 7 inches. So now my whole windshield will need to be replaced. There is no way that little of a crack could spider crack like that. Mind you, i have an appointment tomorrow morning to get the chip filled. I was planning on taking care of it but now i will need a whole new one.
I PURCHASED MY 2017 Outback BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN 2017 AND IN THE THREE YEARS OF OWNING IT, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD 3 TIMES. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WHERE THE WINDSHIELD APPEARS TO CRACK FOR NO REASON OR BY THE SLIGHTEST TOUCH OF LOOSE GRAVEL. EACH TIME THE WINDSHIELD CRACKS I HAVE BEEN IN MOTION, ON A HIGHWAY GOING SPEEDS OF ABOUT 60MPH. THE CRACK WILL START SMALL AND THEN SPREAD VERY RAPIDLY WITHIN A MATTER OF MINUTES, THUS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE CRACK FILLED BEFORE IT SPREADS.
The battery prematurely dies, typically after using the radio or other accessories for only a short while (10 minutes) without the engine running. This has happened to my vehicle 2 times in the last 4 months. In both cases, the battery has been tested and shown to be fine.
When going over small bumps there is a cracking sound in the front and rear suspension or brake area, it does not happen when going at high speeds just small bumps and braking.
The battery in the car has failed 4 times in 4 years. Subaru cannot find the reason for the failure. This is not normal and appears to be defect in the car. I am not getting any answers from subaru on why is this happening. The car was parked at home over night the other 2 times just after arriving at our camp site. We stop the car and then shortly attempt to restart the car and nothing happens. Each time the car has been driven hundred of miles. Each camping time we were hundreds of miles from home and without cell phone service. I have reports from subaru and auto zone on replacing the batteries.
Cannot remove key from ignition once vehicle is turned off and put in park. Reference subaru service bulletin 16-112-18r.
