2019 Tesla MODEL 3
  • Date of Incident: Mar-22, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-14, 2024
  • Failed components: STEERING

I started to notice a noise that kind of sounded like rusty hinge on door every time i turned the steering wheel. It did not matter whether it was left or right. I took the car into the dealer because i was concern it could be something serious. The tesla service center said my upper and lower control arms were "torn" and needed to be replaced. I find this hard to believe that control arms are failing only after 35, 000 miles on the car. The car is not even 5 years old yet. I am not abusive with this car and even so this should not be happening. I have many other vehicles over the years with hundreds of thousands of miles on them and never had issues with control arms.

2018 Tesla MODEL S
  • Date of Incident: Apr-14, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-14, 2024
  • Failed components: STEERING

My vehicle did an update and after update i have received an error message “steering assist reduced”. I am unable to drive my vehicle and the wheel feels locked. I have reached out to tesla and their soonest appt is over a week from now to even look at it.

2021 Tesla MODEL 3
  • Date of Incident: Apr-05, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-14, 2024
  • Failed components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL and FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

When using cruise control, auto lane assist and auto pilot, the vehicle will brake or slow down without apparent reason. This can happen suddenly and dramatically. This can happen when there are other cars nearby, but also when there is no other traffic on the road. It is distressing enough when there are no other cars nearby, but can be a hazard when there is other traffic behind me and they have no warning this is happening.

2022 Tesla MODEL S
  • Date of Incident: Mar-01, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-14, 2024
  • Failed components: STEERING, SUSPENSION, and SERVICE BRAKES

Recall issue for my vehicle. Have been having issues with the auto steer/auto pilot that comes in the car. The auto steer automatically goes off and whenever you make a turn, there's a weird sound.

2023 Tesla MODEL 3
  • Date of Incident: Apr-01, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-14, 2024
  • Failed components: VISIBILITY/WIPER

While driving in rain, the windshield wipers will randomly stop. This will happen both in auto and in manual modes, especially at night in poor visibility. I contacted tesla and they came and replaced the wiper motor assembly but the problem was not resolved. I believe it is a software issue. I nearly had a crash as this happened to me first at night in a very busy and complex highway intersection and resulted in me being stuck in the middle and blocking traffic until i could navigate the touch screen and find the wiper option to get it restarted.

2018 Tesla MODEL 3

  • Date complaint filed: Apr-14, 2024
  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM and STEERING

I have a 2018 tesla mode 3. It is one of the early model 3 on roads. I have had around 10 issues in the car over the past 6 years of ownership; and most of them were fixed during warranty. My car has no accidents, no water damages (only hand washed), single driver driven and well maintained. Around a month ago, i got an alert in the car “condition detected with controller”. Tesla service did remote check and stated that vcfront (front body controller) needs to be replaced for $900. I took the car for this fix and then heard that vcfront controller is fine, but i need a replacement of harness and steering rack for $4200, as they see corrosion. I told them that i have no issues with driving or anything else, as $4200 is around 25% of the value of the car. I was advised, pay for this amount or take the car. I got my car without fix. My concern include (i) if this is corrosion issue (model s 2018 and before also had the same issue and there was a recall), then is it their part quality or design quality issue or is it a normal car’s aging issue? (ii) i see malpractice of charging exorbitant $4200 for something i do not see any issues in driving or anything else, and importantly, not sure how are my future repairs going to look like $$ wise. I have request for nhsta – can i show my car to any entity like yours (and not tesla service) to get an advise whether (a) this is a corrosion issue by manufacturer or normal car’s aging issue (b) is it critical car to replace one or both parts (c) is this a malpractice to burden owners with this high cost of maintenance, once it is out of warranty? (please note that tesla never offered extended warranty for my car)

While using autopilot or beta self-driving - when a minimum speed limit sign is detected on i-75 in georgia, the system usually reduces to the speed of the vehicle to posted minimum speed (40 miles an hour) instead of maintaining current speed limit.

Rcm2_a636 front passenger safety restraint system fault

2019 Tesla MODEL 3
  • Date of Incident: Mar-01, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-13, 2024
  • Failed components: SEAT BELTS

After owning my new car for less than 5 years i started intermittently receiving a "safety restraint system fault" error. It seemed to most frequently occur when the driver's seat was raised. When lowering the seat the error would often go away. Checking the service menu's notifications there was rcm_a021 code. I researched online and found the following thread which exactly described my problem: https://teslamotorsclub. Com/tmc/threads/safety-restraint-system-fault-fixed. 159768/page-5#post-7717246 i opened up the connector and one wire was cut. I restripped and soldered it and the error went away. I consider this a safety issue since through normal use of different seat positions (including the easy entry option) the wire bends and gets cut, which causes the seat belt safety features to stop working.
