2018 Tesla MODEL 3
  • Date of Incident: Apr-13, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-16, 2024
  • Failed components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, and FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

The most recent software update v11. 1(2024. 3. 10 9d92fb944d7f) was downloaded automatically and i installed it. The next time i drove, the car made uncommanded and unwanted lane changes, apparently because i could "go faster" if i passed the traffic in front of me. I did not want to go faster due to congestion and aggressive drivers where i live. I then discovered that "full self driving" had been activated after the download and without my knowledge or authorization. I believe that this was an unsafe condition and wish to report it. I immediately turned "fsd" off.

2023 Tesla MODEL X
  • Date of Incident: Apr-09, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-16, 2024
  • Failed components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The steering wheel only has a flat tiny horn button that is impossible to use in an urgent situation effectively rendering the car with no horn in higher velocity scenarios. Finding the horn button (which not only is not raised but actually not a button) while driving to honk the horn is a near impossible task. I’ve had several close calls where i couldn’t get to the horn in time. Fortunately i was able to avoid an accident. The steering wheel needs to be replaced with a horn pad or button that is immediately accessible in an urgent situation.

2020 Tesla MODEL 3
  • Date of Incident: Mar-03, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-15, 2024
  • Failed components: STRUCTURE:BODY and STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR:HANDLE:EXTERIOR

The door handles on the chrome version of the tesla model 3 begin to delaminate after several years of use. They delaminate along the door handle seam which creates an extremely sharp edge that can cut fingers. I've had the rear handle on my own model 3 rear door cut my kids finger when they tried to get into the back seat. Because the car is technically out of warranty tesla will not cover repair without significant cost. There is no warning sign or notification other than when you reach to pull the handle and the sharp chrome edge cuts you, the one door with this issue now has the handle partially protruding since the handle can no longer sit flush. There are several threads where similar chrome version model 3 owners have had the exact same issue occur with the exact same safety risks. Tesla has only repaired the ones that fell under factory warranty. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6)
