While the vehicle was stationary, in my home garage, the media center unit(mcu) screen flickered and went black. The screen has not turned back on, which is preventing from using my back up camera.

WENT TO THE CAR ONE MORNING, WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS BUT FOUND THE PRIMARY SCREEN WAS COMPLETELY BLANK AND NON FUNCTIONAL. UNABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. FORTUNATELY THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE GARAGE AND NOT MOVING. SCHEDULED A REPAIR VISIT WITH TESLA WHO IMMEDIATELY ORDERED A MCU WHICH IS NOW KNOWN TO FAIL AFTER TIME IN ALL Tesla Model S'S AND X'S MANUFACTURED PRIOR TO A CERTAIN DATE. I NOW NEED TO ARRANGE FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE TOWED TO TESLA FOR THEM TO REPAIR A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM.

On july 23, 2020, at around 1:00 pm, i was highway driving at 65 mph on east bound i-70 near blue springs, mo. When my touchscreen failed and went blank. I lost access to all my touch screen features and it rendered my tesla app on my mobile phone in operable. I was able to drive it to the tesla service center in kansas city, mo. On same day. On july 23, 2020, around 2;05 pm, i was advised by tesla that my touchscreen failed and will have to be replaced. My tesla was not drivable as it could not be charged and the air conditioner could not be turned off. I left my car with the tesla service center mentioned above and i authorized replacement of the tesla touch screen. I was informed by tesla that my car was out of warranty and the cost of the touch screen replacement would be at my expense. I authorized the repair. The mileage on my car is about 25,000 miles. Tesla presently has my car in their service shop as it is not safely drivable. The replacement screen has been ordered and should be installed and my tesla ready for pick-up on or about august 4, 2020.

I DROVE TO A STORE WITH NO ISSUES. UPON BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT I HEARD A 'BREAK' AND THEN FELT THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE RUBBING AGAINST THE CAR. I NOTICED THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS POSITIONED FURTHER BACK THAN USUAL AND DETERMINED SOMETHING BROKE UNDER THE CAR. TOWED THE CAR HOME, AND USED A CAMERA TO CAPTURE A BREAK IN THE FRONT FORE LINK. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURES, I WASN'T INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT, NOR DID I HIT A POT HOLE OF ANY SORT. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO TESLA WHERE THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM, BUT STATED THAT THIS WAS NOT A RECALL OR COVERED UNDER WARRANTY (I WAS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY). I DISCOVERED ONLINE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH Model S AND X'S. I SUBMIT THIS TO YOU FOR YOUR REVIEW AS I BELIEVE THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. ALSO, ATTACHED IN THIS INVOICE FROM TESLA. THEY REPLACED THE BROKEN PASSENGER SIDE FORE LINK AND ALSO REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE FORE LINK AS I BELIEVE THEY FELT IT WOULD FAIL IN THE FUTURE.

WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY CAR?S (2015 Tesla Model S) EMMC (MULTIMEDIACENTER) FAILED. THE CHIP DIED AND I WAS UNABLE TO USE THE TOUCHSCREEN INCLUDING THE CLIMATE CONTROL. THE CAR STILL WORKED BUT I COULD NOT DEFROST MY WINDOW AND IT WAS HARD TO SEE OUTSIDE. LUCKILY, THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND ME AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. IF THIS FAILED ON A COLDER DAY, THE DEFROST FEATURE COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. TESLA NOW WANTS ~$1500 TO REPLACE THE ISSUE WHICH USA SAFETY HAZARD.

Tesla touchscreen went black while i was driving and i had to drive home without possibility to control most of the functions of the car such as lights, rear view camera, etc. This is known as the tesla mcu failure. Tesla does not want to own this issue and is asking customers to pay 1,500$ to replace with a refurbished mcu which will present the same issue 2-3 years from installation.

The mcu has a black screen a month ago. Which cause almost all car functions useless. Some safety functions such as turn signals, and backup-camera are not working. Car is drivable but it is not safe without stated functions. Charging takes a very long time.

2015 Model S WITH 48,000 MILES - TOUCHSCREEN STOPPED WORKED, NO ABILITY TO CONTROL CAR OR HAVE ACCESS TO REAR CAMERA. SCREEN IS TOTALLY BLACK, WITH NO OPTION TO RESET. I WANTED TO DOCUMENT AS THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE THE NHTSA IS CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING.

Approximately 6 weeks ago the computer wouldn't respond and wouldn't reboot when i started the car. I can't control things controlled by the screen (back up camera,etc). I've had two repair appointments but no part available so no repair. I haven't been driving the car for 6 weeks now. They keep reporting "part pending".

Screen that controls the entire car (large screen) stopped working completely. I have owned this car from new & the car is well taken care of: always garaged. This happened 07. 13. 2020 when i was going to the supermarket. I have no. Turn signals, daytime running lights, backup camera, radio, any miles on odometer reading, safety features or autopilot, bright lights, or any heat or a/c. This issue (what tesla calls mcu going out is a known issue in the last couple months. From my understanding the mcu is over working & tesla now installs a new type of mcu due to the flaw.

THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO USE THE BACK-UP CAMERA, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT VIEWABLE AND OTHER FEATURES WERE NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TESLA OF HIGHLAND PARK LOCATED AT 1200 OLD SKOKIE VALLEY RD, HIGHLAND PARK, IL 60035, WHO INDICATED THAT THE MCU NEEDED TO BE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE MEDIA CONTROL UNIT (MCU) BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TESLA LOCATED AT 8500 TYCO RD, VIENNA, VA 2218, (703) 761-4679, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MCU FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR THE MCU REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,132.

THE CONTACT REFERENCED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE20010 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BACK OVER PREVENTION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,582.

Middle screen went out putting the car in? Limp mode? Happened in the middle of the night and we didn? T have headlights or turn signals! Happened while driving about two hours from home when we tried putting a route in the touch screen after setting the automatic update for 2 am the following morning. The car has 101k miles the warranty expired at 100k miles. We notified tesla of the problems we? Ve been having with our screen freezing and rear view camera randomly not working while it was under warranty but the techs said? Everything is fine and it must have been a fluke? Now that the car is out of warranty the now suddenly know the problem and a solution! This defect is scary and left us stranded and unable to navigate to a safe area off the highway in the middle of the night without headlights!!! Why would they jeopardize safety over money!

Main touch screen wont turn on... Mcu, or now both screens are turning off and on and off and on, blinkers wont work , speedo wont work, radio, ventilation, basically everything wont work while this is happening, ( but you can still drive. I have a video but not the correct file type
