2023 Toyota Camry
  • Date of Incident: Apr-13, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-14, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE and FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

With the car on, and wanting to take off, i pressed the accelerator pedal and there was a several second delayed reaction in throttle response/car movement. The car eventually started to move. This is the 3rd time i have went to push the gas pedal and the car did not immediately respond. There are no check engine or other warning lights on the dashboard. This is a huge safety issue as one time i went to pull out and the car acceleration did not respond almost causing an accident. I have not yet taken the car to the dealership but plan to soon. The last time i took the car to the dealer they said they would charge me, even if the vehicle is in warranty period, if they did not find anything therefore discouraging such items from being reported/further investigated. The first event was quite some time ago but the last 2 have happended in the last 30 days with the 3rd being 4. 13. 24.

2024 Toyota TUNDRA
  • Date of Incident: Apr-10, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-14, 2024
  • Failed components: POWER TRAIN and ENGINE

While attempting to cross an intersection after stopping at a stop sign i stepped on the accelerator to go and the toyota tundra hesitated momentarily. This hesitation or lag caused me to be in the intersection later than i wanted to be nearly resulting in me being broadsided by a truck. This is not an isolated incident for my vehicle. I posted my issue on a social media site for 2023/24 toyota tundra's and the responses confirm that this is an issue that toyota is aware but has done noting to remedy.

2021 Toyota Sienna
  • Date of Incident: Apr-14, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-14, 2024
  • Failed components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

This incident had happened twice in the last 30 days. I have been stopped, then starting to accelerate after a stop sign, i push on the accelerator and the vehicle slows down, as if it’s losing power for about 5 seconds. I do not release the accelerator and after the 5 seconds of what feels like no power, the van begins to accelerate like normal. This poses a severe safety risk while crossing intersections when you believe your vehicle should respond when pushing on the accelerator. I did not have any notifications pop up on my van, i was in an open intersection on both instances, with no one in front of me. Speed limit was about 5mph, coming off a complete stop. This is extremely dangerous, especially when your vehicle feels like it stalls without any reason. The gas pedal is completely non-responsive for 5 seconds.

2023 Toyota Highlander

I am on carplay maps following direction and suddenly a pop up come up on the screen advertising the toyota driver experience connect subscription or asking me to reset the toyota apps pin. In order to come back to the maps, i need to take my eyes off the road to click a couple of times to carplay. This is dangerous as it happens every 5 to 10 minutes.

2023 Toyota RAV4
  • Date of Incident: Apr-13, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-13, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE and STEERING

I was sitting in line at a drive-thru with my wiper blades on the intermittent setting when suddenly the engine shut off and i got an error message that said “engine shut off steering power low”. The check engine light, battery, and steering light all came on. I turned the car off and then on again. It rumbled and then shut off again with the same message. I had to shift to neutral and push into a parking spot.

2024 Toyota RAV4
  • Date of Incident: Apr-13, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-13, 2024
  • Failed components: SERVICE BRAKES and POWER TRAIN

I'm driving a rental toyota rav4. I stopped the car at a curb, pushed the button to turn off the engine, and got out. There was a beeping sound (accessory on beep). I ignored it, as i wanted to quickly check something outside. I started to walk away and someone yelled 'car rolling'. I ran back, couldn't block the heavy car, opened the door and jammed on the foot brakes. Then i noticed the car was still in drive. With no engine-transmission torque against the wheels. The car is proximity-keyed, but does not require the transmission to be in the park position, to turn the engine off. This has happened twice in my driveway as well. In retrospect i'm lucky not to have been struck or run over by the car or clipped by the door. -------- yes i 'should' have put it in park. But every regularly keyed vehicle i have driven won't let me remove the key until it is in park, and as i said this has happened when i was doing other things in the car in my driveway. Going proximity keyless has dropped the transmission interlock requirement. This is a recipe for disaster.

2020 Toyota Corolla

2023 Toyota RAV4
  • Date of Incident: Feb-29, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-13, 2024
  • Failed components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS and UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Pre collision malfunction, rsa malfunction, lta malfunction, headlight malfunction. These warnings keep coming up showing the vehicle is not safe. Parts were ordered in february but are on back order. Might get by june. Vehicle has also rebooted the screens, tried to lane change, and failed to start once. To me this is a programming problem. This has been an on going problem for months now. The dealership claims that it is a wonky camera causing the problem.

2014 Toyota Tacoma
  • Date of Incident: Mar-31, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-13, 2024
  • Failed components: POWER TRAIN

In the past two years my Tacoma has had to have the air switching valve replaced twice. Vehicle going into limp mode is not safe. Dealer tells me I need to drive it more than 5K miles a year. So I need to drive more to make an emission component work better? How does that even make sense.
