  • Failed components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Only one incident almost caused an accident (there are a total of 5 different incidents that have happened however). I was pulling out of a parking lot into traffic. The light was green in the direction i was trying to travel, and there was traffic coming but they were far enough away that i could have safely turned into the lane and moved with traffic if the car would have accelerated as was expected. Instead, the collision system deemed that there was an impending collision about to happen and would not allow me to accelerate. On coming traffic had to swerve to avoid hitting me, which thankfully there was no car in the second lane and they were safely able to avoid hitting me. The car was taken to the dealer and the form that is included was supplied to the dealer and subsequently to toyota engineers. After 4 weeks, the dealer returned the car because toyota engineers stated that the pcs system is acting as intended, and there is nothing wrong with the system

Hello i purchased this s car used on 03/19/24. I was told the brake and abs light would clear with new battery, which they installed on 03/19/24. It did clear for a couple of miles, brake light warning ⚠️ and abs came on, which causes car not to brake properly, i have not taken car back but believe it and s a defect of the manufacturer's that it has failed. Any help with this issue is appreciated. If you could tell me, what steps i can take to see if toyota has any extended warranty for this issue thank you for your thank you for your time

When starting the truck and warming up a minute or so and then putting in reverse to back out or forward to pull into a carport, idling in gear with your foot only on the brake, the engines surges/revs up with just the slight turn of the steering wheel causing an unintended speed increase. I believe that this could cause a minor accident. It does not appear to be caused by the engine having a fast idle when cold as the idle drops when you shift into a gear. What appears to be happening is the ecu over compensates for the slight strain caused by the power steering pump when you turn the wheel. My carport is narrow and does not align exactly with the driveway, you have to jog left a foot or two and then right to pull in or back out. At the second service visit on 12/12/23 the dealer then checked and observed this behavior and reported "this is normal operation and directly related to power steering pump activation when wheel is turned in any direction" the vehicle was purchased new last may and currently has 3,995 miles on it. I think it probably had this problem from new but i had mostly just pulled straight in and out of the driveway until the fall when it was mostly parked in the carport as it was not being driven as regularly. I don't think it does it as bad when fully warmed up which takes quite a while for this engine.

Driving along interstate 20 west in Alabama to Mississippi, the Highlander completely shut off - the dash & radio were blank. The steering wheel locked up. Luckily there was no vehicles behind or beside us when this happened. Within seconds, the truck came back on. 15 minutes prior, we were sitting in a parking lot to eat lunch & while in idle, the truck shuddered a few times, like the gas pedal was pressed.

When i was driving, i stopped at a light, and the engine turned off. Lights, alarms went on and my car would not start. The dashboard read that there was engine failure. The car didn’t respond to pressing the brake, or shifting gears. I had to turn the car off and restart it for it to start working again. Thankfully, i was not on a hill where the car would’ve started rolling forwards or backwards. This had previously happened at another stop light. When we brought the vehicle in for a recall related to the steering column, they mentioned our car is not affected. But there seems to be an issue, and i’m concerned that it will endanger me and my passengers.
