Consumers have filed a total of 18 complaints related to Volvo STEERING.
Since purchasing in may 2019, my brake pads were replaced once and my rotors now three times. I have less than 20,000mi on my volvo. The reason is because of pulsations when i apply the brakes and it can be felt in the steering wheel, at times. My dealer has been stellar in addressing my concerns each time i have had to have it serviced. I have seen on various blogs and consumer sites that this is a rather common occurrence. I believe the rotors either are not equipped for this vehicle or the quality of the rotors are subpar. If a remedy or recall is not substantiated, the owners should be assured brakes and rotors will be covered by volvo, indefinitely.
Tl* the contact operates a 2019 volvo vnl 760. The contact stated that the u-bolts used to connect the front axles to the front leaf springs failed to hold tension causing the steering wheel orientation to change at times while driving over bumps in the roadway. The contact indicated that the steering wheel orientation would at times be as much as 30 to 45 degrees out of alignment. The truck was towed to pat salmon and sons trucking located at 1242 orgill ave, memphis, tn 38106, who tightened the u-bolts however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 450,000. ## vin passed ## volvo truck 2019 vnl760 ##
Front end, wheels begin to bounce and vibrate unexpectedly at various speeds above 45 mph. The bounce/vibration/wobble affects steering and can be felt in the accelerator pedal and steering wheel. Steering wheel vibrates side to side affecting handling. When braking during this event the steering becomes worse and steering wheel jerks left/right with harder force making handling and stopping difficult. Problems temporarily resolved when vehicle stops but can return within minutes. Problem not persistent but frequent especially at high speeds 60+ mph and the problem is unexpected. Problem occurs at about 1. 5 hours of driving, but can occur at longer intervals. Once the issue starts it generally continues until the vehicle has been parked for several hours
2019 complained to the dealer about uneven wearing of the front tires they checked alignment then same complaint in march 2020 no defects find then in july 02 2020 i was unable to drive because of vibration , after inspection they found plastic bushings for both kingpins worn out and replaced as whole sets. My complaint is about premature failure components at 300000 miles due to use of plastic bushings by manufacturer. Truck was used on highways not as a vocational truck
The controls on steering intermittently disabled. I take it to the dealer they updated the software and it was fixed for while, but it reappeared again! Many volvo owners has the similar issues most of them ended up replacing the control module part on the steering wheel. This is a dangerous symptom since most drivers like me rely heavily on these controls to select vehicle system options and cruise control. Also dealer asking me to change the break components very frequently sometimes just 20000 miles. I am ended paying hefty price of these parts to keep the breaks safe.
