- back left axle went loose with the back left wheel while driving, causing the car to rotate 45 degrees, scratching the ground. Once the car drifted back horizontally, i used the brakes to stop the car. Multiple pictures show the defect. Back left lights where the axle went off and the wheel is not broken, showing no collision. Liquid escaped from the bottom. Available for inspection and photos as well. -had i not been able to use the brakes after the car rotated sideways, we would have crashed. This could have caused major injuries to us and/or others. -the police inspected the car and didn't qualify it as an accident since they said no damages, other objects, or vehicles were involved. The manufacturer's local shop made a 4 lines and inaccurate report to qualify it as an accident falsely. If there were an accident, lights would brake before the axle and there was no pothole -there were no warnings. It happened suddenly
Vehicle shakes at highway speed (62-75mph) and under heavy acceleration (highway on ramp) since 1st day of owning vehicle. Steering wheel vibrate and rear mirror shakes and is unusable. Took to dealer on 3rd day of owning car and they balanced tires and performed alignment with no improvement. Dealer stated it is a problem known to volvo with no corrective action and they were instructed by volvo to not fix anything.
Srs airbag light came on three times in a month but did not stay on. Took it to volvo dealership to see what the issue was. According to dealership- there was loose pin tension in the left front door harness. They checked for codes and received srs b11a081 left side pressure sensor message failures. Followed vida fault tracing and found the loose tension in srs pins in the driver door harness. They had to replace the srs terminal pins and splice wiring. The dealership did mention that this has happened with 3 or 4 different volvo models already this year. It sounds like it's a defect in the manufacturing of the srs system within the doors. However, volvo warranty will not cover this repair. My primary concern was that the airbag was deactivated this entire time, even when the light was off. Again, the warning only came on for three trips in an entire month. I had assumed it was a software glitch, since when my software needs updating electrical things start to happen (i. E. Spacial sensors going off when nothing is around me and i'm parked).
Since owning my Volvo XC60 I have had to change my brakes and rotors 3 times. I first purchased my car in January 2020 and the model is a 2019. The brake issues that have occurred have been the brake pedal shaking excessively as well as concern that the car would not brake due to the brakes wearing down very quickly. This has also affected the brake safety that Volvo pride themselves on. Additionally I was asked to pay $600 for a recall that the dealership told me needed to be done for my safety and admitted that Volvo should be picking up the tab for this.
I was driving my car and one day i got a warning to stop car immediately that there was no oil. I get regular oil changes and maintenance. I checked the oil and it was empty. There are no leaks, nothing burning out of the exhaust. I added oil and 2 weeks later same warning, i have to add oil 1-2 times a month. I took the car to volvo and they couldn’t find an issue. I took the car to family mechanic and he said there is a known issue w volvo cars pistons rings going bad and causing oil to burn. He said there is a class action law suit about this very thing. I took the car back to volvo dealer and they found the issue and want $8000 to correct it. Volvo knows about their faulty piston rings. They even acknowledged it at the dealer and told me to put something in my oil and keep adding oil monthly. They told me the car will be fine as along as i add oil. However i don’t feel i need to add oil to a car 1-2 times a month. I’ve also had error warnings that there is no coolant. Volvo also knows about this and refuses to correct or recall the car
The contact owns a 2016 volvo s60. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the srs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who repaired the vehicle under nhtsa campaign number: 20v378000 (seat belts) and 16v798000 (seat belts). The dealer also repaired an unstated electrical failure. The contact stated that the cells in the battery were faulty. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The contact stated that after several weeks, the srs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer who informed the contact that the vehicle had been in an accident previously and the wiring was faulty. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact of a fault with the rear of the battery. The auxiliary battery was draining, and the battery was leaking. The mechanic informed the contact that the pretensioner needed to be replaced; however, the mechanic was unable to obtain the parts from the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 27,859.
Our tires are continental 255/45r20. It blowouted today when we were on the freeway with the speed at 65 miles per hour. We pulled our car to the shoulder of freeway after the rear driver side tire was blowouted. The tire was completed damage with many explore holes. We can see the bulges too. Our car is only one year old. The tire on right front in the passenger side was blowouted in march this year and we had replaced it. We can prove this tire is a defect tire.
The contact owns a 2023 volvo c40. The contact spilled an unknown liquid inside the trunk and leaked onto the minor and major control units. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the upper and lower control units to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,304.
This is not a singular incident; it has been persistent for five or so years at this point. Quite frequently, when i am driving with the top down for at least 20 minutes, one of the doors unlatches (a couple of weeks ago, this actually occurred six times in one hour or so trip, though such frequency is unusual). For the first year or so this occurred, it was only the driver's door, but then it started happening with both doors (though still more frequently the driver's door). To be clear, it unlatches -- it never has swung open, even if pressure is applied to it. Still, this is jarring when it occurs (all the more so at highway speeds), and i am left to wonder if at some point it will "graduate" to full door opening. I am also especially concerned given that i have a child with a driving learner's permit. I mentioned this in passing to a volvo dealer service agent a couple of years ago, and he professed to be unaware of it and suggested i would need to bring it in for diagnosis etc. Which i have not done. However, having been on the nhtsa site today and seen other complaints about this with this year, make, and model, i felt i should add my experiences to the record. And of course, given those observations, i would like to get it addressed without my having to incur the cost of doing so.
The entire top edge of the windshield is no longer sealed to the car. Water gets in. If all of the windows are closed, the windshield briefly pops out a little bit as the door is closed.
