Consumers have filed a total of 70 complaints for XC60 models.
While i was driving in a busy multilane city traffic situation, the car's center console went completely blank and the turn signals, hazard lights, and volvo on call were not functioning properly. I am not sure what else was affected. This continued for a full 1-2 minutes, unlike times before when the system has done the same thing but quickly re-booted. The safety of others and myself was compromised, as i needed to change lanes to get onto the interstate. I could not tell if my signals were functioning because the signals were not making a clicking sound and the flashing signal indicator lights were completely nonfunctional. I tried the hazard lights as well, which did not function. I pressed the volvo on call button, but nothing happened. When i took the car to the dealership, the service manager stated that a "software update" was performed to fix the problem, and when i questioned how i was to know if this would be a problem in the future, i was told that i "wouldn't know unless there was a problem" and they claimed to know nothing about whether the incident would be reported to the nhtsa. I feel unsafe driving this car now, which is ironic considering that i bought a volvo for its purported safety.
I have owned this vehicle since july of 2020, and can? T get the service for the safety recall performed. The recall is for the front seat belts. I have contacted the dealership and volvo but haven? T received a response.
Adaptive bending lights go off intermittently and headlamp malfunction warning on dash.
I received a safety recall notice in august 2020 (for a recall issued in june 2020) and i contacted my volvo dealer (don beyer dulles, va), who said that the parts were not available. I received a second safety recall notice in december and i contacted my volvo dealer, who said that the parts were unavailable and were still not available as of january 28. The second recall notice said to call volvo customer care center if the recall is not corrected within a reasonable period of time. I contacted the volvo ccc and they told me to try another retailer. That's it - no other assistance. Seven months after the recall and still no timetable for repair.
Since purchasing in may 2019, my brake pads were replaced once and my rotors now three times. I have less than 20,000mi on my volvo. The reason is because of pulsations when i apply the brakes and it can be felt in the steering wheel, at times. My dealer has been stellar in addressing my concerns each time i have had to have it serviced. I have seen on various blogs and consumer sites that this is a rather common occurrence. I believe the rotors either are not equipped for this vehicle or the quality of the rotors are subpar. If a remedy or recall is not substantiated, the owners should be assured brakes and rotors will be covered by volvo, indefinitely.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 Volvo XC60. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V378000 (SEAT BELTS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. A letter was sent from volvo corp about a safety recall on seatbelts in august 2020 stating that parts would be available after nov 2020. I called the local dealer last week and apparently they do not have the parts to make the necessary repairs. I am very concerned for my safety while driving this vehicle. Currently, the drivers side seat belt is difficult to open with one click. It requires a few pushes to unlock the seat belt and this is our main concern. I called volvo corp this morning and they are unaware of any timeline of when the parts will be available. They have also made an error in stating the phone number for nhtsa in their letter to the public. The letter states 800-327-4236, which is incorrect.

The brake rotor has severe warping with less than 27k miles on the vehicle. The brake pads per the dealer are in good condition.
Pulling up to a traffic light at about two miles per hour, the engine cut out (as it normally does for start/stop). However, when engine cut, all power systems turned off. The screens went black and no buttons were responsive - the ignition button did not restart the car and the hazard lights would not activate. Power locks did not work. Three minutes later, the car screens turned back on and the engine restarted. I do not recall pushing the start button before it did this, so perhaps the button message was "queued" and waiting when power returned. The battery seems to have adequate voltage under load and the terminals are fastened tightly, so i do not believe this to be a battery-related issue.
Was driving on highway. I let go of the gas pedal but the car still uncontrollably accelerates! Gas pedal is stuck. Hitting the breaks slows the car a bit. This went on for about 10 seconds and finally and luckily the "r-design" gas pedal cover fell off and i was able to stop accelerating. Intended to drive at 65 mph but the car itself accelerated to up to 80 mph momentarily.
The windshield is leaking heavily from the top and condensation impairs visibility. This is effecting some of the safety and electrical systems, such as the passenger airbag and door controls.

The 12v accessory plugs (aka the cigarette lighter) keeps randomly blowing fuses. I have tried different 12v to usb plugs and other accessory plugs but doesn't help. Tends to blow on startup. Dealership said they have had many complaints about this and thought was resolved in 2015 my. Apparently not as even putting higher amperage fuse does not help. If something outside of the electrical circuit is causing this to blow, it could be a safety issue. This started a few years ago but after replacing 10 fuses, enough is enough.
REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. CURRENT VEHICLE STATUS IS 20K MILES, REAR PADS ARE <3MM AND ROTORS REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. PER THE DEALERSHIP THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE NEWER XC60, XC90 MODELS. THEY ARE UNDER THE IMPRESSION EITHER THE PADS ARE INFERIOR, OR VOLVO POTENTIALLY DESIGNED BRAKES THAT ARE TOO SMALL FOR THE VEHICLE SIZE, LEADING TO PREMATURE REPLACEMENT REQUIRED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 Volvo XC60. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE FRACTURED FOR THE SECOND TIME. The consumer purchased the vehicle december 21,2019 and it was totaled december 22,2019. The consumer had the feature on their e on my vehicle that caused the engine to shut off while stopped and start up again as they put their foot on the gas. The vehicle failed to restart when they hit the gas while stopped at a light on 27 south. The ending result was an accident for which their insurance company is being personally sued by the liable couple that hit their vehicle. They were unable to turn the car off and the steering column and brake pedal were locked when they attempted this. The vehicle turns on when the key is in the car and the brake is pushed while the ignitions button is turned. They attempted this move because it is also how the vehicle is turned off. This was unsuccessful. When the vehicle? S repair record was pulled it was noted that a sensor for that device had been repaired previously. The consumer stated that their concern is that the mileage for this vehicle was 26000 miles and it was a 2018. It could have potentially resulted in more serious injuries or death if the situation had been different. Thank you *ln *as
