The windshield cracked spontaneously one day while driving. No other cars were around. Took into the dealership and they told us it was a rock chip that had cracked the windshield but the crack started at the top of the window and went down. No impact point is visible. We have also has another subaru which did the same thing but while sitting in garage.

The windshield seems to be exceedingly weak. In the little over a year of owning the vehicle i have had 2 cracks in my windshield and 3 chips. These have occurred on a heavily trafficked highway that is clear of debris. I have owned older subarus before and have never had a windshield crack or chip.

I had my 2020 subaru crosstrek (brand new, off the truck) for less than a month when a crack appeared in the lower left passenger side of my windshield. I didn't have any history of something hitting the windshield, it just cracked.

There was a tiny rock chip that was about 7 inches from the bottom of the windshield in the center. I was at a complete stop and it cracked. About 14 inches from that chip across then down. It also spidered up about 7 inches. So now my whole windshield will need to be replaced. There is no way that little of a crack could spider crack like that. Mind you, i have an appointment tomorrow morning to get the chip filled. I was planning on taking care of it but now i will need a whole new one.

I PURCHASED MY 2017 Outback BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN 2017 AND IN THE THREE YEARS OF OWNING IT, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD 3 TIMES. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WHERE THE WINDSHIELD APPEARS TO CRACK FOR NO REASON OR BY THE SLIGHTEST TOUCH OF LOOSE GRAVEL. EACH TIME THE WINDSHIELD CRACKS I HAVE BEEN IN MOTION, ON A HIGHWAY GOING SPEEDS OF ABOUT 60MPH. THE CRACK WILL START SMALL AND THEN SPREAD VERY RAPIDLY WITHIN A MATTER OF MINUTES, THUS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE CRACK FILLED BEFORE IT SPREADS.

I was driving in a heavy rain storm, on the highway, and the right windshield wiper just stopped. A few minutes later, the left wiper stopped working. I was able to move to the side of the road, since i couldn't see to drive, and i could hear the motor working, but the wipers were not moving.

OUR 2018 Subaru Forester HAS BEEN SITTING IN OUR DRIVEWAY EVERY DAY SINCE MARCH 2020 WHEN THE COVID CRISIS KEPT US HOUSEBOUND. WE MAKE A FEW SHORT TRIPS AROUND TOWN PER WEEK. JUST TODAY (JULY 28, 2020) MY WIFE NOTICED A BIG CRACK IN THE LOWER WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THEN SHE NOTICED THE SAME TYPE OF CRACK IN THE MOONROOF GLASS. WE HAVE BARELY BEEN DRIVING THE CAR AND WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE NOTICED IF A PEBBLE OR OTHER DEBRIS HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND MOONROOF SO HARD THAT THE TWO CRACKS DEVELOPED. (ALSO THERE'S NO CHANCE THAT A TREE FELL ON IT AND WE SIMPLY FAILED TO NOTICE.) WE WERE ABOUT TO TAKE THE CAR ON A 9-HOUR ROAD TRIP IN TWO DAYS BUT ARE CONCERNED THAT FURTHER DAMAGE WILL OCCUR AND WE WILL BE STRANDED. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

The windshield spontaneously cracked while driving out of the driveway. There was no impact or trauma. The truck is brand new , 2 mos old with 2,600 miles on it. It has never been driven off road and the windshield was never impacted by any objects. I was driving ~ 1 mile per hour , turning to go out of my driveway.

Defective front windshields. The original had a legitimate crack from a rock hitting it. The first & second replacement windshields (subaru branded) both cracked starting from the drivers side about midway up. The first replacement cracked at slow speed after pulling away from the curb. The second cracked after parking and closing the drivers door. Both cracks immediately spread laterally across almost half of the windshield in the drivers line of sight. The original windshield was replaced on 4/3/2019 and the first replacement windshield was replaced on 11/4/2019. This second replacement windshield cracked on 7/24/2020. Neither of these last two cracked windshields was caused by rock or debris hitting them.

While driving on the highway (approx. 55mph) in pouring rain, wipers were on high-speed and stopped in the upright position abruptly. Thankfully was only one exit away from my home but had to drive without wipers. Very dangerous!
