Consumers have filed a total of 28 complaints for SQ5 models.
The original engine water pump failed at 18,313 miles on may 12, 2019. The replaced engine water pump has failed again at 24,700 miles on april 25. 2021. This is completely unacceptable and unsafe.
STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT IS A KNOWN DEFECT ON EVERY MLB-PLATFORM AUDI MODEL. MY SQ5, LIKE THOUSANDS OF OTHERS, HAS DEVELOPED A KNOWN DEFECT THAT CAUSES A SQUEAKING/CREAKING THAT CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL. IT CAN ALSO BE FAINTLY HEARD. INSTEAD OF INITIATING A RECALL TO FIX THE ISSUE, AUDI HAS RELEASED TONS OF TSBS THAT ONLY COVER IN-WARRANTY CARS, EVEN THOUGH MAY CARS DEVELOP THIS PROBLEM WITH AS LITTLE AS 20,000 MILES. AT 53,000 MILES, MY CAR HAS THIS ISSUE NOW AND I?LL BE FORCED TO PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR A REPAIR THAT EITHER INCLUDES REPLACING PARTS OF THE STEERING SHAFT OR DISASSEMBLING PART OF THE STEERING SHAFT AND LUBRICATING IT. IT IS A BIT SHOCKING THAT 10 YEARS LATER AUDI IS STILL NOT RECALLING THESE CARS TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE ONCE AND FOR ALL. AS THIS ISSUE PROGRESSES, THE STEERING CAN PROGRESSIVELY GET HARD AND HARDER FOR THE DRIVER TO TURN POTENTIALLY INCREASING CHANCES OF AN ACCIDENT.
THE STEERING SYSTEM FROZE DURING OPERATION. SENSORS INDICATED CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THERE WAS HEAVY RAIN STORM PRIOR TO THE FAILURE WHICH ALLOWED WATER INTO STEERING RACK MODULE. THIS IS A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH Audi SQ5 BASED ON MY RESEARCH AFTER INCIDENT. MY CONCERN THIS SYSTEM FAILURE COULD HAVE CAUSED A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT IF FAILURE OCCURRED DURING HIGH SPEEDS AND HIGH TRAFFIC. ALSO, THE CAR HAD ITS REGULAR MAINTENANCE A FEW WEEK PRIOR TO INCIDENT.
My car keeps saying please reduce oil level
While driving, the? Steering malfunction? Warning light came on. The warning said that it was ok to drive. On the same day, the steering wheel became askew and was no longer aligned. This made it very difficult to drive the car. The dealer replaced the entire steering column in july 2020. I picked up the vehicle on 7/23/20. On 9/5/20, the same? Steering malfunction? Warning light lit up. It is back with the dealer as if 9/8/20.
When using the lane-departure and? Steering correction? System this vehicle will attempt to suddenly, sharply, and dangerously change lanes. This morning (8/26/20), while traveling on a four lane divided highway with cruise control and lane departure active, the vehicle jerked left into a turn-only lane, overriding my manual steering of the car in the straight travel lane. Had another car been in the turning lane we would have nearly certainly collided, as my car was at least 30% into the lane before i could react and bring it back into the center lane.
Issues with auto breaking in reverse car will sometimes stop abruptly while backing up when no other vehicles or people are present.
Cars dash board go will go out while driving. Completely disabling all gauges until it resets. Bluegrass audi can? T seem to figure it. I asked several months ago to be contacted by audi but i was never contacted. Audi bluegrass has had the car2-3 times now with no solution. This also includes one time where they drove over 400 miles on it. Picture i included is a just a guess. This has happened 3 or 4 times.

The trunk lid has opened on its own while i was driving on the highway in the night time, some small cargo (made of plastic) fell out of the trunk and was destroyed by the traffic behind me and in adjacent lane while creating some minor road hazard. Instantly pulled over on a soft shoulder, put the hazard lights on and got out to check out what happened. The trunk was wide open but hazards were not visible as they are attached to the trunk lid which was open and facing upwards, effectively making the hazard lights invisible to the traffic in the night time behind me. Small reflectors on the bumper are so tiny that in the night time are practically useless and invisible to the cars behind you if they are cruising at highway speeds. A few cars behind me had to brake hard and change lanes. There are essentially two safety problems: 1) the trunk opened while driving (no sound or dashboard warnings) and 2) design flaw of the tailgate lights which are attached to the trunk lid instead of at least partially being attached to rear part of quarter panel. Since it was too dangerous to stay on the highway in the night, i pulled in to a nearest parking lot to report to audi roadside assistance. Imagine the situation when someone gets a flat in the night on the highway and needs to change the tire themselves, if the trunk is open while you get the spare and tools , they are in great danger. Discussed this with audi corporate and they sent me to a dealership for diagnostics but dealership could not replicate it. Seems like neither of them have a solution. Please investigate. Thank you.
TL THE CONTACT'S WIFE OWNS A 2017 Audi SQ5. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE STRUCK THE CONCRETE HOLDING THE STREET LIGHT IN FRONT OF THE PARKING SPACE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
On a suburban street that i regularly drive on with no car nearer than 100 yards in front of me and fortunately no car behind me the audi presense system actuated slamming on the brakes and flashing a red triangle in the driver information screen. If a car had been followed behind me i would've been rear-ended
I was stopped in a designated left turn lane waiting for oncoming traffic to clear. As the last car was passing me going the opposite direction i began to accelerate and make my left turn. The audi pre-sense slammed on the brakes. So now i? M in the lane of oncoming traffic with my car temporarily disabled. This is the fourth time this has happened. If i had had my dog in the back of the car, he would have been thrown into the windshield. I? Ve been driving for 50 years, my wife, for 48 and have never been in an accident. It is my opinion that this system is unsafe and there should be a way to have it permanently disabled.
I PURCHASED MY 2018 Audi SQ5 BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN APRIL 2018. I BELIEVE THE PIRELLI TIRES THAT WERE PUT ON THE CAR DURING PRODUCATION ARE DEFECTIVE. THE INSIDE OF THE TIRES CAME APART; THE NOISE CANCELLATION PADS CAME APART IN THE TIRE AND HAVE ROLLED UP. THEY WERE CAUSING THE WHOLE CAR TO SHAKE WHEN I WOULD GO OVER 50+ MPH. THESE WERE UNSAFE TIRES TO BE DRIVING ON. I AM REPORTING THIS TO YOU INCASE YOU HAVE NOT HEARD ABOUT THE DEFECT IN THESE TIRES YET. THEY ARE UNSAFE TIRES TO HAVE ON THE ROAD. THE DOT NUMBER ON THESE PZ4 TIRES: UN RM V376 4517. I HAD TO REPLACE THESE TIRES AT MY EXPENSE. I FEEL THESE TIRES ARE HORRIBLY UNSAFE AND NEED TO BE RECALLED. HTTPS://VIDMAILS.COM/V/WYATDA44DT
The audi sq 5 loses power steering if the rack/pinion power steering unit is exposed to water. This does not refer to flooding or submerged car audi considers weather an outside influence and does not honor the warranty the car retains full propulsion but is impossible to steer the electrical mechanism on the power steering is dangerously exposed , and apparently not weather proof i made a left hand turn in a heavy rain storm up the apron of a driveway to a parking lot. I drove the car 100-150 feet to a secure spot to wait out a heavy houston rainstorm. The dashboard indicator came on signalling loss of power steering as the car sat in the spot for over 1 minute i assume the water i pushed up in front of me as i went up the apron got under the car and into the mechanism the car was never stationary in any deep water, and never in water deeper than 3 inches this is a safety issue as the car maintained full proplusion
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 Audi SQ5. Audi's mmi has a parking aid which includes a 360 degree top view mode. Top view mode reverts to "graphic view" with each restart of the vehicle. Top view mode should keep the user's last setting which in my case is "camera view. " camera view is safer because the driver can actually see if there are any obstacles right up against the car (e. G. Children) which sensors could miss. To switch to camera view, the driver needs to take their eyes off the road and click through the mmi menus. If parking with traffic, this is a distraction and also not safe. This defect in the software isn't being addressed by audi in a timely fashion - it's been present for over a calendar year. New audi vehicles apparently include a later mmi version which does not have this bug but they have not distributed a fix to existing vehicles.
